It's almost like he hears about how bad the build quality of Tesla cars have become, so he thinks the solution is more accurrate, more expensive parts. Kind of like he has absolutely no clue what he's doing, and doesn't want to listen to smarter people telling him what they need.

This is the problem with the shareholder mentality that's ruining a lot of products and services. They don't give a damn about the longevity of the company. They only care about money now; and as soon as things go sour, they'll sell their shares and move on to the next company.

Looks like reddit is now using the same approach as I'm using for my toddler: Sit on the potty? Get a sticker. Do a chore? Get a sticker. Spending countless nights keeping spam bots at bay? Believe it or not, sticker.

Home internet data caps WERE a thing of the past when Obama appointed Tom Wheeler as FCC chairman, who then pushed rulings to classify ISPs as a public utility and started enforcing net neutrality. Companies that didn't play ball started getting fined until they fell in line. Being a former executive for a major ISP, he was very familiar with the anti-competitive practices and underhanded tricks those companies had been using for years; and he used those practices against them to finally make some pro-consumer progress for internet access in the US.

Then, Trump came in and put Ajit Pai in charge of the FCC (no joke, my phone kept auto correcting his name to Shit Pie). Anyways, Shit Pie tore down those rulings and undid all those years of progress as part of the Trump administration's anti-Obama initiative. Even though it was proven time and again that what he did was directly against public opinion, and that ISPs were flooding the public commentary with bot posts(some even made by dead people); Shit Pie continued to meme about himself and drink from an obnoxiously large Reese's coffee mug while doing so. At this point, every provider of internet services has added back data caps in the US, and they have continued to increase their prices to maintain that 99.9% profit margin. They've also locked down more areas to prevent municipal broadband services from forming, and they're even pushing for legislation to prevent them from ever happening.

The current administration has done absolutely nothing. In fact, they've been so unremarkable, I have no idea who is in charge of the FCC, and I don't feel like looking it up.

That just means you can't use autoland in low visibility conditions. Modern IRUs (inertial reference unit) are highly accurate laser gyros that can use GPS for correction, but will throw out the data if it doesn't make sense. Navigation won't be affected much, and autoland (if used) will still rely on VHF guidance.

Considering I don't see a lift kit, expanded exhaust, and giant low-profile tires; this just looks like a regular pickup truck to me. The luster on the paint is even a little faded, so it's getting old. Driver is just an asshole here. Probably a shitty driver, since the rear bumper is hanging at an angle.

Saw the show. Calliou is a whiney little bitch, and he's a bad influence on children. The parents tolerate his behavior and let him get away with it, which teaches children to do the same.

There. I said it.

You're getting older. When you reach your 30's, you'll feel tired the next day because you had a couple of beers. You'll feel like crap for a couple of days if you get drunk.

It's also very easy to run an AI image generation tool locally using open source models.

YouTube compresses the video as soon as it's uploaded, so it's unlikely you can obtain any sort of lossless download. You may be able to get a .wav or similar download of a video's audio track, but there will still be compression losses from the YouTube side.

This is the kind of thinking that leads to tomatoes ending up in fruit salad.

Payday 2 was good for a while, but then it got buried under a mountain of DLC and people slowly stopped playing because of the aggressive monetization. They came out swinging with the same tactics in Payday 3 with only minor content improvements, so people weren't as motivated to buy the same game again.

Cities: Skylines 2 appears to be going the same route.

Just unplug them? Most appliances still draw some electricity (i.e. phantom load) when turned off.

Too many AI language models are just word salad. It will spit out very long responses that add nothing of substance. Sometimes it's kind of like a high schooler desperately trying to reach the paragraph requirement on an essay.

The issue with those items is that they are not in the list of approved materials for Boeing's manuals. It might be normal to see these sort of practices in a line maintenance environment where it's hard to get the proper tooling; but the manufacturer should be abiding by it's own regulated publications. It's just more symptoms of their cost cutting and schedule rushing measures that are leading to their quality issues.

My company has been spending a lot of time and money doing warranty repairs on brand new airplanes that we received from Boeing over the past couple of years. It's very concerning when a customer has to fix things that should have never left the factory floor.

Systems like this are why I really appreciate the "Hold for me" feature on my phone. You just have to be quick when an actual human picks up, or they'll put you back on hold.

We may have the same employer.
In addition to switching companies, my employer is also bragging about a new health plan with $0 monthly cost to the employee, while being completely silent on that new plan covering absolutely nothing aside from virtual appointments through an app sponsored by the insurance company.

Before this update, an ARC 770 was comparable to a 3060 RTX. This latest update may put them in the current generation bracket at half the price.

The game barely runs in pancake mode and their response to that was "get a better computer". I'd hate to see what they would expect to even try to run Starfield in VR.

Also, their VR versions are, frankly, not very good. You absolutely have to tweak and mod them to get them to run well and be enjoyable.

I just leave it on maximum. Too many spoofed local numbers. If it's someone important a d they're not in my contacts, they'll either make it through the screener or leave a message.

Exactly. I went in blind. No trailers, no interviews, no hype. All I knew was it was a Bethesda space game. It started off slow, but after about 12 hrs (half of which was me goofing off and gun running for money), I'm starting to really like the game.

Seeing a trashcan explode into a tesseract-can is pretty funny, albeit a bit concerning about what other props have multiple copies embedded in them. I do hope Bethesda seriously re-evaluates their stance and does some optimization and scrubbing. The game runs ok on my system, but my card should not be screaming as hard as it is.

I fix giant metal birds that light themselves on fire and scream really loud to fly across the sky. The kingdom heavily regulates who fixes them, how they fix them, and who flies them to make sure everyone is safe.

Yes. Most of commercial navigation systems rely on the IRUs as a primary source of position data, and they'll usually have 3 of them. VHF is used by the crew to confirm that the aircraft is on track by referencing VOR stations, though these are slowly being phased out due to GPS.

That being said, a single traditional IRU can have up to 2km of drift over a 2 hr flight (at which point it's removed from service and replaced). When used in combination with two other IRUs, the error is dramatically reduced. Traditional IRUs are gyroscopically mechanical in nature and do not talk to GPS.

Now, that being said, the new standard is called an ADIRU (ADvanced IRU), which ties in with GPS and features laser gyros. They're extremely accurate and have essentially zero drift, plus multiple redundant components within each unit.

I sat through a grand jury earlier this year for a small county. The amount of fentanyl people are smuggling through this country is insane. It's dirt cheap, and it's everywhere at this point. A lot of mules are carrying it in roughly 1 kilo or more, and the chemical testing on the evidence reports is showing it's just stright-up fentanyl.

I'd like to recommend Derail Valley for the trains section. I've been playing it for two weeks now, and I'm hooked. It's very well done.

Also, just commenting that Transport Fever 2 is very good. It's like a modernized version of OpenTTD.

Considering YouTube and Twitch can't show greater than 60 fps, there's really not much point to going higher unless you're trying to get higher quality slow-mo footage.

If you're still thermal throttling, you may want to consider 30 fps.

I've been loving BattleBit Remastered lately. It's cheap, fun as hell, and the very small dev team has been very active and responsive. I bought 3 more copies to give to friends so we could squad up.

First, they have to align on the ground. You initialize them with your current known position (usually by GPS or your known airport/gate spot). Then, you wait for them to synchronize with the Earth's rotation. If you're far north, like in Alaska, this could take half an hour. If you're close to the equator, it could take 5 minutes. Once they're ready, from that point, any movement you make, it will know where you are and where you've been.

If you spin up a gyro and begin moving around, it will maintain it's starting position. You can use this deflection to calculate direction. If you know how fast you are going and for how long, you'll have your position.

Mechanical gyros drift. It's the nature of a world with friction. Newer IRUs use laser gyros, so the only real drift they have comes from extremely minute rounding errors.

Considering that writer is pumping out multiple articles a day, they most likely are to some extent.

If it's a smaller plane (such as a CRJ / ERJ) with only one IRU, it will not be able to determine if GPS is valid or not, so the drift correction gets spoiled.

Large commercial aircraft are using 3 IRUs, with newer aircraft using ADIRUs. If GPS does not agree with the three IRUs, the GPS data is thrown out. If the GPS is within tolerance, correction is applied. You could build up very small errors over a long distance, but you should still be pretty close to the airfield when you get there.

Copies of the Premium edition were included with a lot of graphics card sales, and there's been a lot of upgrading going in with some card prices coming down. It could be a significant factor.
