Man am I happy not to live in murica

I think it's better to phrase the crypto part differently. Because crypto is a great tool for privacy, while Brave's crypto crap is just annoying.

Some possible issues are:

It could be a honeypot. While this likely won't be the case, if you connect to a website and download directly from there, depending on your browser and os, general privavy and anonymity, they might be able to fingerprint you. Check against some other databases from sites that you visited today that have your real name and you're bust. Unlikely, but possible.

If the website gets shut down because of suspicion of malicious activity and they intentified visitors, again, through a fingerprint or similar, it's beasically the same as a honeypot.

So basically, the complexity of modern web browsing is the general issue. How do you circumvent this? Ideally you don't. Just use a torrent with a p2p VPN in a secure and anonymous manner and you don't even have to worry about your Javascript canvas.

Good bot

Libretube works off piped servers and has multiple instances listed ready for use. It includes Sponsorblock and has a beautiful UI. It's slightly buggy sometimes but if you can deal with that it's the best.

Might wanna fix that

I would, but sadly the security hardware just isn't there. Calyx works though!

Second this. And other instances would still be accessible. Even more so since lemmy.world (along with probably some others) is starting censorship, which wouldn't affect you, since you decide what you can see.

Well guess what. They say that cause they're damn right.

Hmmm yes. Though now that you speak of decentralization... Would be pretty epic if we had a Fediverse type platform but "posts" or in this case torrents would be saved across the network, kind of how digital currencies do. That way with enough participants worldwide, it would be quite hard to shut that platform down. Distopian still lmao

Yet you still mention mastodon, excluding every other part of the fediverse.

Cuz the cute fox rolled up in a ball around the world. Oh and also because I would like to fuck Google with a bat.

That argument is no argument since we humans, no matter how advanced our language is, still follow rules. Without rules in language, we would not understand what the other person were saying. Granted, we learn these rules through listening, repeating and using what sounds right. But the exact same thing is happening with LLMs. They learn from the data we feed them. It's not like we give them the rules to english and they can only understand english then. The first time they come into contact with the concept of grammar is when they get data, most often in english, that tells them about grammar. We all follow rules. That's exactly how we work. We're still a lot smarter than LLMs though, so it might seem as if they are vastly inferior. And while I do believe that most complex organisms do have "deeper thought" in that our thought has more layers and is generally fitter for the real world, there is no way I'm not gonna call a neural network that can answer me complex questions, which may have never been asked in the history of mankind, an AI. Because it is very much intelligent. It's just not alive. We humans tend to think of ourselves too favorably. "We" are just a neural network. Just a different kind. Just like a computer is similar to the human brain, but a wire is not. Where do you draw the line?

Arrr matey

No, I would argue incredibly helpful reply.

The issue is, that unlike movies, games and others, these plugins are no harder to pirate, but way harder to hide. It's not like a "Yeah, you could get in trouble.", but more like a "If anyone catches you, you are not going to financially recover.", which given the scope of clients (Fam, friends and yourself) and the fact, that these Websites are likely to be on the internet, is incredibly likely. Why not use a free and open source alternative?

Not to me it wasn't, my experience has been better wih lemmy. And it still is. I think you should just leave the opportunity open for them to actually search for the feediverse and not specifically Mastodon.

Well to truthfully answer your question, ignoring your apparent frustration, Linux is not an operating system for the faint hearted. It is often highly technical and community driven. As a result, it can also be quite hard or just frustrating to use (for some users).

Saving a file in GIMP is basically saving the workspace. Elements that you create inside of GIMP get saved as individually. Exporting the file will let you get an actual image file (like a png or jpg or bitmap what have you), as is it that way with most pieces of software on most operating systems. Export almost always means "Gimme the end result". Like in 3d modeling software, where at export you can choose if it's an stl or whatnot and when saving, you save the actual workspace.

As for your screen recording tool, I don't know as I don't use it. But it is likely that it has a config as almost everything does in Linux and that the imaging format can be changed there permanently. If it does not have such a config I'd ditch it for something else tbh.

Yes absolutely, it's still financially easier to go to a country that values citizens and has high population density.

Excuse me my dude

Alright.

HEYYY WAIT A MINUTE

Good call if true

Absolutely, although it seems outdated in the platform choice maybe?

Not that I know of

Yeah I absolutely get what you mean. But as I said. What I said is not my opinion, it's a possible explanation. I don't really give two craps about politics.

Yes absolutely, but the soon to be user reading this will just go to Mastodon and completely ignore everything else for at least the time they are not told of other platforms. Just leave the platforms out of context. Let them google fediverse and explore

Steada treated he gets tricked Steada kisses he gets kicked

I... know?

Where did I make assumptions about you?

Thanks

You're doing good work!

Oh mb I thought you used a direct download without a vpn

Ah, thank you.
