Thanks for that replacement mini crossword recommendation, I’ve only done today’s but I really like it already!

It seems that Spotify doesn't accurately count plays for tracks under 30 seconds. I had a look through some of the albums I know of with short tracks and here's what I found:

In fact I found the MGMT album 11•11•11 has a 26 second long track with no reported plays.

So while it's probably true that people are listening to fewer full albums than they used to in the days of vinyl or CD, it seems more likely to do with Spotify only paying royalties on tracks over 30 seconds and the discussion surrounding that.

I’m glad this is being brought up. As the article mentions, one of the affected games was the Ghost Trick remaster which received a 5.6GB update with no explanation. It was only through data mining that people realised Denuvo was removed in favour of Enigma.

The worst part for me is that Enigma lives up to its name and people have been left guessing about where it’s coming from. Some people think it’s Capcom’s in-house DRM while others are linking it to some Russian company with the same name that Capcom may have partnered with.

As I understand, this DRM has already been cracked so it’s not even stopping people who want to pirate the game. On the other hand, I love Ghost Trick and I wanted to buy gift copies for some friends over Christmas but this move really put me off.

Sorry I’m a bit new to chess so I’m unfamiliar with the rules. Are we at risk of being captured by the knook here?

Pretty sure it’s a joke based on the way the headline was written which makes it ambiguous whether the 12 year old was in the forklift or whether the police chasing him were in the forklift.

Linking this here just because I only discovered that Nathan For You episode yesterday and would hate for anyone to miss out on the reference: Youtube / Piped.

Edit: fixed broken Piped link

Thanks for the heads-up! For anyone that’s confused like I was, turns out this is the same game as Bloodborne Kart, just changed enough for legal purposes. Considering it started out as an April Fool’s joke, it seems really high quality so far and I’m appreciating all the Bloodborne references!

The largest questionable stain (gh4, gh5) is actually revealed to be The Ooze from the 1995 Sega Megadrive / Genesis game of the same name

Great recommendation! I’ve been playing this a lot recently and it feels like the perfect kind of game for the Deck since it’s so easy to pick up and play in short sessions. It’s also got so much to offer that the gameplay doesn’t get repetitive quickly. A tip is that there are community layouts for the Steam Deck where some of the more annoying button mashing is mapped to macros on the back grips. Definitely a nice feature for sanity and button longevity reasons!

These summaries are usually decent from what I’ve seen but this one misses out some important information. The fourth and fifth paragraphs of the summary make no sense without the context that the athlete was disqualified for a false start and then still allowed to run.

Thanks a lot for sharing this! Decky plugins often break after a Steam OS update, which is understandable, but a bootloop is more trouble than I’m looking for right now…

Mlem on iOS seems to have that feature under Settings > Filters at least!

Could you accept a world where someone does it intentionally as a joke?

I have no idea what the context for the photo is but I assumed they wanted their printed paper signed

Not OP but it could be ProtonDB for Steam:

I personally haven’t used these myself but if you have Decky installed on your Steam Deck I can recommend the ProtonDB Badges plugin!

I think we’re looking at the same video then, the one with less than 10,000 views after 24 hours. Yeah that video isn’t a real trailer, it’s just using recycled clips from the first film and guessing what might happen in the second one

So I’ve done a small amount of testing this morning and had the same drop in battery over the same amount of time with it on vs with it off. I’d say you’re probably right that it’s only a few percent!

As I understand it, lemmit.online is an instance set up to mirror content from reddit. It automatically copies the titles and content from communities on reddit so you can view them on Lemmy.

What’s being linked to here is the Lemmy clone of /r/steamdeck

This seems really powerful; I’m curious, how helpful were its suggestions?

Agreed, I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed the soundtrack! I’ve had it on repeat on Spotify but I wish they had versions with the in-game sound effects too.

I’m surprised to see there’s so many fellow rhythm game fans here, I’m glad you enjoyed the recommendation! The only issue with the game as I said is that it’s not long at all so perhaps plan to bring a few more rhythm games too 😅 You might like Crypt of the Necrodancer if you haven’t already played it!

Totally understandable to be honest! As I’ve gotten older I’ve felt like I have less time to invest in games and before getting a Steam Deck I was barely playing anything.

Games on a trip with no internet sounds ideal though, I hope you have a good time!

I actually hadn’t seen that community, there was an older one than I’m a part of but it’s not as active so thanks for sharing! My wallet will also suffer in solidarity 😅

You’re right about the sequel being announced but do you have a link to the trailer? The only videos and articles I can find still seem to be speculative.

Am I blind or are none of these actually offered by Proton themselves?

Haha, I guess I'm glad to be an influence for better or worse! I would say Crypt of the Necrodancer is less of a traditional rhythm game and more of a game where you act on the beat but it offers a lot of gameplay if you're into that. I find it satisfying in a similar way at least! Do you have any rhythm games you can recommend?

I would love a new Rhythm Heaven game! I did see that this party rhythm game was announced for Switch recently but I’m not sure that it’s really what I’m looking for: https://youtu.be/-RhYKb0IzNs

Good question! I assume there’s some trade-off but I haven’t properly tested it yet since I was just excited to see it working properly. I can try running some experiments tomorrow.
