Been rocking a oneplus 8 for the last two and half years, replaced the back glass a couple times and the battery once. I definitely don't baby my phone, it's a tool meant to be used, but overall am pretty good at not dropping things so I can reckon I'll keep going with it until it gets too slow or something breaks.
When choosing a new phone, I usually go for something new that's one level below the latest flagship, and check to see if LineageOS is being developed for it, as then I know it's likely to receive software updates for long after I've moved on to the next.
Thing is, I like, many people here, am a techie, and I'm not afraid to install custom ROMs and open up my phone for repair. The majority of people don't want that, so I'm really looking forward to the upcoming EU regulation on user replaceable batteries! Then it's possible for everyone to keep their phone for longer.
I've been watching and waiting for Paralives to come out for a long time at this point. I really like the art style and having something built not by EA seems like my kind of thing.
For now, guess the sims is all we have!
Honestly though, I hate it but I do kind of get it. If this game gets overrun by hackers in its prime, the game dies and I'd really like to see this survive long term as this is the kind of pricing model I'd like to support. Can't have everything perfect.
But it will only make sense if FACEIT achieves that goal. Time will tell, and I'll keep my windows dual boot for gaming for now.
Yeah so they're one unit, you turn it on and then choose to oven, microwave, grill or a combination of all 3. I've found combo low wattage microwave with oven to be great at quickly heating frozen food for example.
I think the major difference is that it's rarer to have a combination stove and oven. The stove is usually separate and built into the counter top, similar to how a sink is installed. I have normal drawers beneath my induction stove, but it's also common to have the oven as a separate appliance below the stove. My combi oven is above the inbuilt fridge instead. Just whatever the designers of my rental place thought works well, the main point is that they don't have to be together.
I'm in the same camp here, generally avoided FPS because my reaction time is similar to a snail. The medic role is super important because you don't heal automatically, and only a medic can heal you. I've had plenty of situations where I'm a medic prone on the ground with bullets flying overhead, reviving and healing a whole squad downed by a well placed enemy grenade. Been an absolute blast, pun intended.
Ah that one's called Life By You I believe. I watched the trailer for that one and I don't know... It feels kinda soulless. Like someone just said "make the sims but with better graphics" and now they're falling into uncanny valley with dead looking facial expressions.
I personally don't think it'll do so well as games like the sims really sit well with casual gamers with low end machines or Nintendo switch etc.
I get you on the NVIDIA side of things, but as another commenter mentioned, it's an NVIDIA problem, not a Linux one, and I really don't see it being solved. I finally gave in and replaced a perfectly functional 3070Ti with a 7900XT and damn, wish I'd done this a long time ago! Just works straight out of the box with wayland.
True that, I think it's more a case of that I've been renting in brand new apartments most recently, and a combimagnetron is the standard for all new construction in cities these days.
Although it's true that my Oma has them separate. But even then, the microwave is built into the cupboards, it's not a "loose" appliance on the counter top. That seems to be more of a thing in US/UK from what I see
What's always fun is that new Dutch apartments come with an entirely equipped kitchen, dishwasher and all, but then they come without a floor (bare concrete), and the walls are bare plaster.
Then as a renter I get to pay for all of it, and at the end of my lease I'm looking forward to playing the bluffing game with the next tenant. I'll try to sell my floor to them, while they try to get it for free under the assumption I don't want to spend time ripping it up if they don't pay.
They will lose.
Interesting point on the microwave ovens. I live in the Netherlands and every apartment I've lived in comes with a standard combination oven and microwave, i.e oven sized microwave. Is that something standard in the US and not standard where you are?
HDR and wide color gamut! While the displays are still only really available in the mid to high end (I don't count HDR400), it's no longer just pro gear and I upgraded to a new display recently that I'd love to take advantage of it with. I've been using the new, still in testing Variable Refresh Rate on GNOME and this would be the final piece of the puzzle for making me ditch windows 100% when it comes to gaming, as Proton has basically solved every other issue for me - I'm primarily a singleplayer gamer.
