General takeaway is: letting your kids be enamored by mr beast is teaching them to get clout. Teaches them that to do nice things, they must be recording themselves doing it. Its different if youre an adult that can think for themself

“If i cant record myself helping this person out then ill wait till i can find a camera.” Theres a good chance thats the type of thing your kids are gonna unconsciously think about.

Doesnt surprise me, the developers of lemmy (which are owners of .ml) have an agenda. They are into censoring on ukraine news, and other stuff. I dont get why people are choosing lemmy over kbin when they are equally bad looking

Anyone mind summarizing what this is about?

I dont feel like falling for clickbait

To be fair, if it wasnt for the blackout it wouldnt have given me the motivation to finally move on to kbin. Im sure this will push others to do the same. If all it takes is to slowly dwindle the reddit user by doing the same thing then im all for it.

Of course, i do see why there shouod be more creative protests to switch things up and see what else works.

Nah admins/owners of instances are gonna get paid to stay

Just like twitter except what you see on your feed is reliant on what #’s or people you follow. So you essentially have more control over what you see and you wont get any posts from some rando like twitter does

Thats a horrible name lol
Pubbers or Pubes sound better

As a regular user who doesnt like social media, this is something that all regular users should be aware of. You can easily get your info taken and processed in a way that becomes consistent with a shadow profile of you made by facebook or other companies in order to track you. There would be no difference in using kbin and using facebook if your info is open to everyone for companies to scrape and parse.

This will likely lead me to stop using kbin and wait for something more private oriented to come up

You think too highly of him if you really think this guy is running a ploy to convert conservatives to caring about climate.

Actually bolstering the protesters resolve by not getting only getting her support but by bringing her followers on board?

You know very well what he means lol

Having meta into the fediverse is the easy way out. Meta is going to grow like a cancer in the fediverse, enticing weak minded instance owners with a large pool of users to sign a contract to allow meta to implement their ads or their i fluence somehow in order to make their profits.

I dont see why youd want anything like that to take part when its going to be the same bullshit

Unfortunately, the fact that lemmy isnt in the pact to not federate with meta means history will repeat itself

Even then, i doubt theres enough strong willed people to actually resist big payouts in exchange for access to the federation. Its truly pathetic how people are easily convinced

Too late lol

Has to be portal

Not very surprising to see that the popular instances with a good chuck of users have not signed this pact.

I already see where this is ending up.

Sounds like youre spewing a lot of bullshit or intentionally misguiding. Read the thread below you and youll see.

Authentic risk or gtfo

It seens like theres no feature for that yet, unfortunately. Given that the dev is currently on the stage where hes improving the front end (website that we the consumers see) id expect that in a couple of months

Shouldn't make assumptions to absolve anyone of tax evasion. Its very common with rich people. Why make excuses for this guy? Just cause it would prove the right wingers right?

I personally think right wingers are pretty stupid but if the truth is in the right wings favor then we just gotta suck it up and accept

“He just had a bad day”

Thats sad lol

Its a huge downgrade from reddit in terms of visual quality. But im soeaking on mobile safari so i guess that will explain alot but anyways heres what i see.

The posts that have pictures dont really show that well until you click on it. You need to scroll down a whole thread to comment on a post. Creating a post/thread is confusing, its hard to navigate “magazines” (idk why theyd call it that), theres a lot of problems with it.

Lemmy looked pretty bad on mobile safari, far worse than kbin

Thats narrow minded, it can be both

Lol funny you say that because i too figured this will be good for cutting back on phone consumption.

Mordhau is definitely one of few casual games medieval fighting game where you can mindlessly kill other players and laugh your ass off. But at the same time its the type of game you can get really good at too. So it has a very in depth combat experience

Instancers sound better and accurate

Your viewing it narrow mindedly..

Imagine youre someone that follows someone you respect. You are someone who actively supports and donates to good causes

Something happens on the otherside of the continent and you have no clue.

When your respected individual supports the cause on the otherside of the continent and begins to spread awareness, you become aware and then you do your part in donating or spreading awareness which further validates the cause

This is just one way to look at it too.. just stop with the blind hate. Do you even have good examples about why aoc is just doing this for pr?

Thats a comically poor argument

Pretty embarrassing to be an adult and not have a basic understanding that everything is not black or white.

Just cause someone is a politician doesnt automatically make them unethical or corrupt. You literally need to be a politician to participate in the political system.. i shouldnt have to be telling you people this lol..

Regarding what you said about censorship, censorship on reddit doesnt equate the censorship on a federated network. Sure you can get banned from an instance but lets say theres an instance (will be more likely) that allows total free speech?

With reddit, youll be banned no matter which subreddit you go. The fediverse cant ban you. Thats the biggest difference

Bullshit part is that OP is just gonna cherry pick arguments and not bother understanding this one.

Says “no fee, no tracking, no hidden agenda”

Yet somehow they are offering this for free? How exactly are they keeping themselves supported?

That is (jelly)fishy..
