Since you mentioned high cpu temps, do you have a water cooler? It’s possible that the pump is running at a reduced speed or not at all. If it was functioning fine on windows that leads me to believe that it’s not hardware related like some are suggesting.

I hate to break it to you but it’s not just the budget dells that have build quality issues. I just received a $5k precision that was delivered with fucked up bios settings, non working thunderbolt ports and a trackpad stuck in the down position. I love the laptop but god damn that was frustrating.
The amount of loading screens and forced cutscenes was just painful. I was so thankful for the gamepass trial because I would have been so upset if I bought this game.
The game had a requirement to link your PlayStation Network account to your steam account but it has been disabled due to server issues. Now Sony wants the dev to enforce that and people feel like they have been bait and switched. Another issue is that many people who have already bought the game live in areas of the world where Playstation Network is unsupported so they couldn’t link an account if they wanted to.

Don’t open ports on your router to expose services to the open internet.
Use a vpn when torrenting and make sure your torrent client is set to only use the vpn’s network adapter. This way, if your vpn drops out the torrent client can’t reach the internet.
I keep everything local and use Tailscale to access things while I’m away from home.

My brother and I started playing Grounded together as a way to just chill and catch up throughout the week. We were shocked with how much content was actually in the game. It’s like Valheim mixed with Honey I Shrunk The Kids, 4 player online coop, base building, survival. It has a storyline so there’s always a sense of direction and it syncs the world with everyone regardless of who plays so it’s easy to just come and go. I could definitely see a group of 10 year olds getting sucked into this.
I’ll never understand how they managed to fuck up Halo so bad.
I can’t help with the Linux specific part but you can check logical increments to get a feel for your budget and adjust from there.
Nobara was my first attempt at leaving windows for good and it was great until it wasn’t. I went a few months without ever booting windows but started having issues when I bought a new gpu. I went from Nvidia to AMD and everything I read online said you just install the AMD gpu, nothing else needed to be done. Every game I tried to play and would crash within 20 minutes every single time. I eventually got so frustrated that I just booted windows, ran DDU, downloaded adrenaline and I was up and running. After I got settled in, I nuked nobara and installed bazzite and haven’t had a single issue since.
I’ve been avoiding AAA games after being burned a few too many times and it’s really opened my eyes to some great indie games. The Steam deck has been great for that also. I think it was Skill Up who said something along the lines of the issue with live service games is that they require so much of your time that you literally do not have the spare time to maintain multiple games. That means that the vast majority of them are going to be DOA.

There is no substitute for Revit on Linux. Autodesk won’t even bring it to MacOS, which is what many architects prefer. People have been asking them for years to develop for other operating systems and they don’t give a shit. The person you responded to wasn’t blaming anyone for autodesk not supporting Linux. They were answering the question of why they still use it. I use Revit every day for work and I would wipe windows from my work pc in a second if there were an alternative. I’m working on a $300m project right now where it specifically states in the contract that we must use Revit so until autodesk decides to support it or goes fully browser based, we are screwed.

What’s wrong with snaps? I’m giving Linux another go so I’m still learning. I’m trying Ubuntu on an ancient iMac right now but I also have Pop!_OS in a vm on my windows pc to play with. I haven’t installed anything on pop but I noticed Ubuntu had snaps.
Plexamp is literally the only thing keeping me with Plex. I probably have less than 2500 songs and it still blows Spotify out of the water for generating playlists. I absolutely love the random album radio and being able to shuffle music by the decade. I find that I actually explore my music more vs just selecting what I want to hear in the moment.
Cooler control is great if you need to control the pump and fans of a CPU cooler. I’m not sure if it can do case fans like fan control but I just set them in the bios anyways.
I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t vouch for it but I’ve read good things about a software called Explorer Patcher that can fix a lot of the W11 garbage.
My pc only has 1 nvme slot so I used an $18 sabrent pcie to nvme adapter to add another nvme and keep my Linux and windows separated. Just wanted to put this out there in case you want an easier way to switch between OSs.

I went through Ubuntu, PopOS, and Nobara before I landed on Bazzite and so far it’s been the one that just works for me. I love all the built in tools like cooler control and the fact that I can just roll it back on boot if I mess something up. The only thing I’m missing so far is that I was using the Barrier app to control my work pc during the day but it doesn’t work on Wayland. I also just made the switch to an AMD gpu and I really like the adrenaline software on windows.
Same. It’s simple and straightforward and I think it only asked me if I wanted to pay for their extra service 1 time. I’m not sure if it’s income based but it didn’t cost us anything to do a federal return.

So, what about stuff like frame generation, anti lag, boost, etc? Is there no way to use these on Linux? It’s not a dealbreaker to me but it was cool to play with.
I didn’t realize that so I just went to check on mine and the integration is errored out lol. A quick look on the forums shows that multiple people are having the same issue. When mine was working, I only had a few options like start and go home so it wasn’t that helpful anyways. The roomba app did update with room mapping abilities but I was never able to get that information into home assistant so my only option was a full clean. Maybe it’s changed since mine stopped working but I can’t wait to get something that’s better supported and put this one upstairs where it only has a few rooms to clean.
I use Linux for everything else. The question was “Why do you still use windows?” The answer is because autodesk has no support for Linux. I never blamed Linux for this and your entire post feels like you are responding to a made up position.
