Which drives the partisanisation of the media. Bozo is right about one thing: the trust in media is at an all time low in the US and trust is build through accurate and unbiased reporting. Endorsing politicians is biased as hell.

The newspapers repudiation of a fascist in dangerous times would hit that much harder had they not endorsed other politicians in less dangerous times.

So now it's damned if they do, damned if they don't... swallow that pill they must at some point. But it would have been an easier pill to swallow after the rule of fascism in the US had been averted.

That's just farming, only on a reeeeeeaaaaly small scale.

This is great, he is politically slightly left leaning (for a democrat), but can absolutely score points with conservative, rural Americans as that's where he comes from and how he talks. He has a clean bill and is just overall a very charming person with great interview game. He's the one who first loudly expressed how "weird" the GOP and Trump are.

With him Minnesota Democrats were able to codify abortion rights into law, increase transgender rights protections, pass a marijuana legalization bill and install new gun safety laws.

“As governor, he’s embraced the idea that it’s really important to invest in people and infrastructure to grow the economy,” Blodgett said. “And to do it in a way that really helps people in the middle and down below. To me, it’s just a huge focus on economic issues that are kitchen table issues that people care about.”

Fun Fact:

A northern German youth-slang word for "Bro" is "Digga", which is a friendly way to say "Fatty", from "Dicker - dick" (lit.: Fatty, fat/thick), but with the implication of being very dear friends, "dicke Freunde" (lit.: thick friends) just has the meaning "close friends" with no implication of being fat and "dick miteinander sein" (lit.: being thick together) is also an expression of closeness, not of weight.

Interestingly, Digga is being used in exactly the same way as black people in the US use the soft n-word with each other. "Mein Digga!" (lit: my thicky) is 1:1 analogous to "My n-word!". It's common for tourists to do a double take when they hear some very German and very white youths yell at one another "Ey Digga!" and many German rappers definitely use it as a stand in for the soft n-word, but It's use and etymology is rooted in the old dock workers culture of Hamburg and has absolutely nothing to do with the n-word.

In our bed?!

FUCK NO!

Rorschach is a fascist, he only works in absolutes and while the Batman tries not to kill, Rorschach has no such regard for human life. He detests the junky as much as the murderer, for him there is only pureness and evil, every little bit of amoral behavior will be punished and at the same time he considers his own vigilantism as above the law.

He's a misogynist who thinks that the Comedian raping Silk Spectre was just a "moral lapse". He holds even for his time outdated socially conservative views and strongly opposes what we would call (gender and sexual) minority rights.

Rorschach is unbending and uncompromising, he is beholden only to his conservative rigid views of black and white morality with no room for shades of grey. That might not sound so bad at first, but if you think about it, that is definitely not someone who you want as a judge of people.

On top of that he's a far-right believer, he's not a government man in the same way the alt-right are not. His thinking is deeply conspiratorial and paranoid with a huge dollop of delusion. He's better described as an Ayn Rand paleolibertarian.

Thinking about it he definitely would fit right in with today's alt-right with the only difference that (if - and only if - he would not buy into their conspiracy theories - and he's very much likely to do so) he would detest Trump for his lying.

But Rorschach is definitely the kinda guy who'd shoot up a pizza place looking for tortured kids in the basement.

I love him as a character, he's one of the best written vigilante "heros" out there but what's so fascinating - to me at least - is that his principled moral conviction is contrasted by how immensely unlikeable this man is and how his moral uprightness relies on the moral compass of a deranged 11 year old with a gun.

The greatness of Rage Against the Machine is that their music is always relevant. The depressing thing about Rage Against the Machine is that their music remains relevant.

Mainly he's incredibly likeable... this election is going to be the likeable ticket vs the asshole ticket.

It wasn't that long ago when Republicans complained about participation trophies and how, at sporting events in schools, the ones who did not win still were acknowledged for their effort. They were complaining that it would make children weak, not want to compete, not give their best effort if they got recognition without being the top dog.

Now they demand their participation trophy and it better come with tendies!

I think he mostly doesn't want to get shot by angry Magats.

Republicans: Naziism was a left wing ideology! It means National Socialist Workers Party!!1!

Also Republicans: I'm a Nazi, all hail Trump!

My most hated meme people use right now is: "We've had the worst storms/rains/drought/fires of the century every year, that's just how it is."

Bitch if it's the worst of the century every year that means it's getting worse every year! There's no status quo in this!

You're pretty, but stinky.

You're not allowed to, but you definitely can.

I can barely take care of my self! Everything's fucked! Don't expect me to parent when I can't even adult.

Uhh, do Disney!

Is this what happens when Germany stays out of trouble for a couple of decades?

As a German: You'll be welcomed and appreciated, just know that we too are fighting a political right shift and that the neonazi AfD might emerge as one of, if not the strongest party next election cycle. Especially if Trump wins this will float nationalist and fascists in Europe on the rising brown tide. It's extremely unlikely they'll end up in government though.

Generally immigrants from the US are quite happy over here and report high satisfaction with their move if they have a) children or b) health issues that cost an arm and a leg in the US and also bring a patience for German bureaucracy and good language skills.

Since you have German citizenship you are free to also consider the Netherlands (easier finding a job with only English, way higher cost of housing) or other EU countries, since you can settle in any one thanks to freedom of movement (Spain might be easier on your wife, since she'll speak the language).

Yes, they can't spray you with the stink, but it's still coming from them. I love skunks, their intelligence, their playfulness, their sociability, but nevertheless would not like to own one or ever come anything close to a wild one because I react strongly to smells.

Maybe it's the claws strong enough to rip concrete apart. That hey are known to have killed jaguars with.

I loved playing Ghost of Tsushima (gotta play it again when I get home) and I really enjoy everything Erika Ishii does, this is amazing!

It'sa me! Mussolini!

"Boys will be boys" Oh yes, what deep insight, nicely expresses the lack of parenting that let little Billy here become a FUCKING BULLY that regularly kicks, punches and intimidates other children. Even worse when adults agree that "shitty and violent" is just how boys are, you know boys will be boys.

Well done being a role model guys, not only does that excuse the bully, it openly communicates to the victim that 1) he's allowed to be like that, 2) they should be bullies too and 3) nobody has any intention of actually helping them and changing the situation.

And then you make them shake hands afterwards and both have to apologize, the bully and his victim.

GRRRRRRRRR makes me so angry! Complete abdication of your responsibility to actually parent your little monster.

If you think Joe is a piece of shit, then yes!

The violent madman with a gun pointed at your head is about to become president and blow your brains out if people don't rally behind whoever runs against him.

Those are your current options, deal with it.

PLEASE! I beg you! Take every perceivable action to change what options you have in the future. Change the options you can choose from. Go be active in local politics, go do something, anything, to achieve better representation, maybe try to change the way your voting system works.

But in the meantime, ensure that voting will still be an option in the future and don't have your (and every vulnerable minorities) brains blown out.

And know that you are not alone, there are other people trying to expand your options, but they need help and time and they are generally convinced that the struggle for something better than shit will be lost or set back by DECADES if you allow the madman to blow your brains out.

just to show you how absurd and off of what was actually said your argument is, let's do to your argument what you did to theirs:

"So you think our representatives should not be representative of the population? Only rich, white, people should be politicians? You think there are no people of colour with political skills equal or better than those already in power? You think there isn't a single second or third generation immigrant who could do a better job than Andi Scheuer or Armin Laschet?"

DW is pretty good. They get called left leaning by Americans, but that's just because leftist policies have a well known reality bias.

Anti-theist here, religion in all it's forms is a blight on humanity, but let's not muddle the waters with misused vocabulary.

The difference between a cult and a religion is not the number of believers, it's how much they enforce groupthink, how hard it is to leave and if they are based around a charismatic leader who profits directly from the imposed sameness and thought control. Generally cults:

  • Rush you into joining and discourage or disallow questions.
  • Followers are encouraged to worship a specific group leader.
  • Leaders dictate in great detail all aspects of followers’ lives.
  • Followers are personally monitored to ensure they’re following guidelines.
  • Methods of control are used to keep members close.

That's how, for example the catholic church isn't a cult but scientology is. The sharp surveilance and strong measures in place to prevent deviancy make all the difference. It's easy to leave catholicism, but leaving scientology can even be dangerous.

Just reading this makes me SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW!!!

Man, I hate this "ThE jEwS" crap... Zionist Israel is not "the Jews" and equating them is actually quite antisemitic.

Woah there, somebody want's to piss off the entire australian continent.

Yes @Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works, please do share recommendations

Aaaaaaand that's the chorus and melody of "Smokin' Joe Rudeboy" stuck in my head again.

Sigh

Fastest land animal is the cheetah, which is at home in Africa.

The jaguar is a South American mammal, just like the giant anteater. And dude...

Between 2010 and 2012, two hunters were killed by giant anteaters in Brazil

Those huge claws are incredibly sharp and attached to arms... again, strong enough to tear concrete apart. Carl has a good video on it.

I can, I did, it fucked me up mentally. I'm 41 now and still suffer some of the consequences of the abuse by my peers and one especially vicious teacher.

Completely off-topic:

Did not anticipate how hard "We're going on an adventure" would hit me with feelings of horror after reading "Children of Ruin". Good work Tchaikovsky. Holy shit that mix of possession and zombie-horror with perfectly natural explanations in a hard scifi scenario really did a job on me, even years after finishing the book.
