Reddit has always had changes that made people want to leave. Removing CSS was the first that comes to mind. Now that lemmy exists it could be seen as a new platform to jump to every time reddit does something dumb or anti user. I have high hopes for lemmy
I think many of them have a crippling addiction to reddit. Might be scary to think It could go away indefinitely. Not saying they are justified. Most angry/dumb comments on the internet are from 14 year olds, or people who desperately need to touch grass
Slippery slope aside, I think reducing unnecessary consumerism would be beneficial for our most vuneral populations. There would be a lower barrier of entry into the economy and more resources would be available at a lower cost for people who cannot afford them
Even if there is a "biological advantage", sports have had "biological advantages" all the time. Some people are taller than others, or have longer legs than others. All of the reactionary people don't care about fairness in sports because sports have never been fair.
I am an engineer who works on turbofan engines, and the term ingestion is what whe use for all foreign objects entering the engine. That includes ice and birds too. Still an absolute tragedy.
A lot of this just feels like CEO talk. Obviously they do not want to back down but if enough big subs stay off then they might have to change course. I'm worried about the people who are addicted to reddit.
