Anyway, I've been here a month and, to make sure I fit in, I've installed Linux and joined the communist party.

Technology is absolutely necessary in a modern classroom. Smartphones are not. Children (<18y.o.) cannot handle the attention grabbing aspects of smart phone use. Or should that be that if a child has to chose between paying attention in a classroom and paying attention to a device, the device always wins.

It's so out of character to see a Reddit mod power tripping and handing out huge punishments for something that's cringe at best. They're normally much more mature and even-handed than that.
My Amazon use has declined greatly since 2018ish. I now only go there if I know exactly what I want and need it relatively quickly. Also it's usually £5 or so more expensive because they know people will pay it for the convenience.
