He actually responded to this on Twitter.

Two clear quotes from the tweet.

Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes.

So, Google is clearly paying lots of money directly to maintain their lead in the search engine market.

Bad look for Apple as well. They say they take privacy seriously, but are selling their user's data to Google, one of the last companies you would want getting your information if you were concerned about privacy.

Though Stardew Valley did not invent the farming genre...

Seems to say the exact opposite from what you are claiming?

Decentralization is expensive too judging by some of the sentiment I've seen around running Mastodon and Lemmy/Kbin instances.

He is making something else, Haunted Chocolatier.

It looks like he's effectively using Stardew Valley as a testing ground for features to see how they might work in that game.

So, not a direct sequel, but not a completely unrelated game either.

The cozy-game genre specifically is a relatively recent category, even if there are plenty of older games that could fit into it.

It definitely isn't a term you would have seen back when Stardew Valley was released.

And then it says the reason that Hades 2 has resource gathering is because stardew valley influenced it…

That's not how you should read this section of the article.

Though Stardew Valley did not invent the farming genre – and obviously took a lot of inspiration from Harvest Moon – it certainly triggered the avalanche of similar farming games that followed. On top of that, numerous games have farming and other life sim elements in them now, regardless of genre.

"On top of that" phrasing implies they are making a separate point.

Honestly, I don't think it's a big deal. But it's just stupid as a developer to act like this.

I often ask about risk vs reward in these situations. What were they going to gain by acting like this and what were they going to risk by acting like this?

That's why my favorite book is Moby Dick. No froo-froo symbolism, just a good, simple tale about a man who hates an animal.

I don't know, how will I know if my opinions on a game are valid and objectively correct if I don't have player numbers to back them up?

No reason the tax had to scale exactly to match the damage though. At least make it painful enough so people consider whether a larger vehicle is worth it.

The only thing the charity has done with the money donated has been to pay for it's own expenses. The rest has just been sitting in an account somewhere. No grants or anything have been made with the money so far.

At least that what the charity's filings claim.

Nah, I enjoyed Baldur's Gate 3, Elden Ring, Tears of the Kingdom, and yes even Starfield enough to not give them up just because rage-bait Youtubers told me to.

Just like I'll eventually probably pickup Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Spiderman 1 and 2 at some point along with many other AAA games that I think I'll have fun playing in the near future.

Can't believe this actually happened.

A link to a Youtube Short that is an image of a date for when they announce another date.

Sorry, I'm downvoting this.

Games you liked winning awards is something to celebrate. Games you don't like winning awards is proof that awards are a joke and should be ignored. Just how things work.

The show is actually pretty good, so it's a bit of a bummer when they create a throwaway game like this. I just hope neither of my kids notice it exists.

I dont include bg3, elden ring and totk in the AAA category. AAA no longer means high quality and fun, it means made by huge companies with more money than balls. CoD is a AAA game. And its shit. For example.

This line of reasoning is nonsensical.

Director AI’s have existed over a decade, and have already been used to solve problems exactly like these.

My knowledge of Director AI's is that they control the individual matches, but this is about the campaign as a whole.

This person isn't calling down a dropship on individual players, he's controlling how the campaign progresses at a higher level.

What's crazy to me is that the game looks as good as it does on a surface level. It doesn't immediately stand out as a "This is a garbage game that is going to lead to a studio closure", at least until you see the person actually play the game.

Is this type of comment helpful for you? Are people supposed to follow-up with some comment about PC players are sheep and will be buy the game for consoles and then buy it PC when it releases there?

This platform war nonsense is tiring.

You'll probably be waiting a while.

I'm surprised that people are surprised that a country would favor it's own businesses versus foreign ones.

I'm also unsure of which countries act differently from this.

It's tuned for a specific hardware platform right now. Choosing specific hardware platforms for support is just an extensions of that.

However the "PC" platform is basically an amalgamation of any possible hardware combination that currently exists, and is a whole different target for a project like this.

I haven't used Godot before so I can't provide too much in the way of context from a user.

Overall though, the notes are pretty massive and encompass a large number of changes, most which are going to be meaningless to you if you not are a game developer or a Godot developer.

Some specific things that standout for a more general audience would be adding support for FSR 2.2, support ('experimental' aka not necessarily production ready) for project exports targeting Android and iOS (which were broken when they switched from Mono to the standard .NET library for C# support).

So, in order to maybe not want to play future GTA titles in some theoretical future, you shouldn't play current GTA titles in order to discourage Rockstar from releasing these theoretical games?

The logic doesn't add up here, haha.

Doesn't look like that is true though, looks like he purchases the ticket at 8pm.

He also just happened to manually pick those numbers as well.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/02/19/powerball-sued-for-not-paying-out-jackpot/72658413007/

And the Powerball number was blank on the numbers posted early.

First off the idea that "other people share this opinion" is some form of validation of said opinion is...less than persuasive. "The earth is flat and you can find lots of people online saying the same thing" is an example of why you can't just rest on other people agreeing with you as being the primary support of your positions. And it's one of the first things brought up in the video so clearly this person feels it's important to bring up.

Secondly the idea that older games respected your time or weren't grindy is ridiculous. From core MMO designs, to JRPGs there are plenty of examples of old games that waste your time in some way or another.

It also sounds like he is saying that all games need to be simple games like Tetris. No story/cutscenes and no complicated game design that someone had to spend time learning. That's certainly an opinion, but I don't agree that game developers should only make games that target one specific person's taste.

The numbers were posted on that website the day before the drawing.

The guy clearly saw those, bought a ticket with those numbers for the next drawing and now is hoping he can get a payout from a lawsuit settlement.

Without journalism (or just a third-party in general) providing perspectives and communication in some way, you are relying primarily on the information coming directly from the companies themselves.

In this case we see that Sony was willing to fabricate quotes about an interview.

It’s unfortunately a case of developers being required to stay “on mute” because of their inherent power - much like being rich, male, and white.

How does the quote go? "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

Ridiculous comparisons aside, primary issue is that there are basically no upsides and a lot of potential downsides to a developer actively like an ass in customer facing channels.

And feeding the cycle of "clapbacks" isn't going to do the community any favors.

That is all that has ever existed in the genre and is all anyone wants from it.

I don't remember you appointing you as the sole representative for all gamers.

Personally, I think games can be written about beyond "game good" and "game bad". Or maybe it comes down to whether you find gaming something important, or just a silly way to waste time.

I would argue it is silly, regardless of the explanation. Every culture has silly things, but that doesn't make them somehow not silly.

I'm definitely pumped for this. I never had time to get into a Rise despite playing a ton of Monster Hunter World. Will be interesting to see what, if any, changes are made to the formula.

To echo what have seen other say, I'm excited about this DLC in theory because I really enjoyed Elden Ring on my first play through and some quick NG+ runs for endings. I actually got all the achievements, which is rare for me.

But after all that, I've struggled to play since. I'll play for a few hours on a character, then take weeks or months before I want to play again. And I'm worried I'll have the same reaction with the DLC.

There is so much open space in the game that it somehow is overwhelming once you have a rough idea that most of the content isn't that important, but some of it is crucial to specific builds you may want to run. It's almost like you spend most of your effort avoiding content because of how time-consuming just playing the game "normally" can be.

The name is old, but there are distinct distributions. Debian vs Arch.

However, there is still no release date or even release window for Star Citizen 1.0. CIG will share the roadmap later this year.

12 years in and the update is that a later update will announce when they may, or may not, release the game.

This is, and always has been, the issue regarding this game. Even putting aside the budget they've burned through to date (which is impressively massive), the fact that they are still unsure of when they think the game is done is mind-boggling.

Years ago, I thought I was being relatively pessimistic that the game may take until 2023-2024 to release. And here we are in 2024 with the "release date will be announced later" updates still coming.

I've never had those free text numbers work for me when used this way. For any services.
