Credit where it's due, Bluetooth headphones have come a long way. I like the ones I have now. That said, removing the jack and micro SD slots was extremely anti consumer and they should come back.

This is why I can't bring myself to buy into Gamepass. It may be a good deal now, but we see this happen with every steaming service. Lowball the price to bring people in, then keep bumping it up until it's not such a great deal anymore but people depend on it for their content. I'd much rather 'own' my games. At least as much as is possible nowadays.

The conversation around the two really wears me out. IMO, there's no need to be so restrictive. We can call them traditional roguelikes, platform roguelikes, whatever, and I think that's fine. If anything, I think we should have better terminology to differentiate games where the runs are isolated and those where there is meta progression. I don't think roguelite a good name for the latter.

It makes total sense. Just a bit of a bummer when looking at the reality of devs being awful/not caring about optimising their games. The Deck is just barely hanging on with this year's big titles.

Thankfully, there's plenty of older and/or more lightweight options out there.

It's rare for crap like this to hit a game I'm currently playing, but here we are. It is astounding to me that this company managed to absolutely bomb its reputation so quickly after building it back up over the last 10 or so years. I'm not even sure what any of this is supposed to accomplish, as people are reporting that mods still work if you have an OS that can even start the game.

Could it be Knowledge Adventure? I played some of the JumpStart games growing up.

It's amazing to me how short-sighted this decision is. Yeah sure keep wide access to CoD for 10 years to get the FTC off their back and then watch all that fall away immediately after. For us this is potentially decent gains in the short term but certainly contributes to this industry turning to crap long term.

While I'm not surprised and I'm not sure if the current proposals are any different, I hate how dishonest the framing around our aid so far has been. Even in non-right-wing news, it's regularly talked about as a dollar amount, implying that it is or will be a strain on our economy. In actuality, we are primarily supplying old equipment that, while better than what Russia has, is not the best we own and would use ourselves. All that to say, this is not some big drain on the country like some people would like us to believe.

IMO the industry overall is in a truly horrible place, but only the AAA and part of the AA space. Indies have been and continue to hold up the industry by themselves.

This strikes me as though the TOS existing is one of the (seemingly few) things out of their control when using the ip, but they went and made it as pro-consumer as they could.

I think if they were sincere in their 'protect the kids' narrative they would be pushing for an age-rating system instead of outright bans. To be clear, they still wouldn't use such a system in good faith, but it certainly wouldn't be as blatant.

Powerwash Simulator is perfect for this.

This one hurts deep. But to each their own ofc.

I don't understand why a company would even want to use the music if it means they can only sell the game for so long. Obviously, it's not the current reality, but I would outright refuse any deal that involves a limited amount of time to use material that goes into a video game, movie, any form of media except maybe live services that are constantly changing anyways (which is a separate issue).

At the very least, people should be made aware of a game's sale period, though I'm sure that's kept under NDA.

Don't blame you. I'm thinking that I will but that's only because a buddy of mine has already offered to buy my current one. I wouldn't consider it without selling the old.

Now I wonder how long it stays online before all the money the asked people to throw at it literally turns into nothing. Kinda surprised a mobile Mario Kart didn't have more legs on it.

So she doesn't want IVF to stop but does still think embryos are babies. To me this reads like someone who thinks literally all embryos retrieved during the IVF process must be used. For those who aren't aware, IVF can potentially end up with 8 or so viable embryos.

Slightly pains me to say that this is a good thing. As much as I hate what's happened to Blizzard but especially Crash and Spyro, monopolies are only going to end up making things so much worse.

For me lately it's Tales of Maj'Eyal, Halls of Torment, and especially right now Shapez and FTL (with the Multiverse mod).

Removes mask They were a glyphid all along!

I very highly disagree but to each their own, of course.

The fact that this went to court in the first place is just insane. This was an attempt at the removal of freedom for cruelty's sake.

BG3 with my wife. As great as it was I'm already enjoying this a lot more than DoS2, I just enjoy DnD mechanics more and those shields felt suffocating on build options. When she doesn't feel like gaming, I've also been working on Disco Elysium, which has also been great. I'm not really sure how I wound up in this double whammy of games about WORDS. MANY WORDS.

To reiterate what others have said, this has reached a point of needing professional help. Violence will not put a stop to violence, it will only make him more fearful and escelate the issue. There are so many factors that could go into this that people online can't account for.

That being said, I really wish you and your beagle buddy all the best. It's definitely a tough situation to be in.

EDIT: To try and provide something practical in the meantime, it may be good to remove his access to these random objects as best you can. If he's grabbing at anything and everything then naturally you can't completely prevent, but if you can block access to tables and counters and keep other areas cleared off that could stave off the symptoms somewhat until you can get help treating the main cause. Especially if he's chewing them up, we don't want him to get hurt that way.

Factorio is indeed a great choice. Whenever you're ready for more Monster Hunter, Risse+Sunbreak is also amazing (playing it now myself). ARPGs like Grim dawn and Chronicon also give plenty of playtime if they're your style.

It should transfer but is not extended.

Beyond that and the usual external hardware checks, a factory reset is probably a good idea.

Humble Choice isn't unknown, or at least hasn't been for a long time. I'm subscribed but they also give the option to skip as many months as you want, which I unfortunately take advantage of like 75% of the time.

Wait, really? I keep hearing that the whole thing was a disappointment. Hopefully people stick it out long enough to actually force some change, then.

I'll add Chronicon to the list! Its approach to endgame is quite similar to D3, but more entertaining imo. It was also made by a solo dev, which is very impressive.

As time goes on I lean more and more into PC gaming with emulation for older systems. Resistant to hardware and disks/cartridges failing and there are fewer concerns with online functionality going away completely. There's a lot to like about the Switch but with it being literally their only console that still has any online features, I have serious concerns about longevity.

Can't go wrong with Stardew Valley for something chill and Terraria is among the best games ever made.

A big one I haven't seen mentioned here yet is Plate Up. The best way I know to describe it is roguelike Overcooked with more agency and a slower curve into the stressful moments. We much prefer it as a result. It's been getting free content at a pretty solid pace, too.

No wrong choice here. Hardware improvements in all arease but (mostly) performance, or a bunch of games.

I'd pick the OLED myself but my game library is also plenty big.

Sony buying everything is just as much a problem as MS doing it. I think the main difference is that they've stayed under the radar by doing smaller purchases, but I want someone to push the brakes on them equally as much.

Nothing against you specifically! It would be more accurate to say that the people who will die on the hill of roguelike being something very specific wear me out. I certainly didn't intent to make a dig at you, so sorry about that!

Generally agree here. Makes me feel not so crazy having seen almost everyone gush about it but I'm also not sure how to fully articulate my issues with it. To me, I think the biggest thing is that it feels like the game knows the diving mechanics don't have that much going for them and so is constantly throwing distractions at me. Stardew Valley works because your quest goals are things you probably wanna do anyways to develop your farm. Meanwhile, I feel like stopping to fish in Diver Dave actively detracts from my ability to complete the constant stream of quests.

One on Firefox that's super helpful for work is Simple Tab Groups. It lets me keep plenty of tabs open without it turning into a disorganized mess. Better than Chrome's built-in tab organization, imo.

Steam's verification badges are a good starting point for a game's playability. For more information, or to confirm if a game can actually be played when Steam says otherwise, give ProtonDB a look.

Valve has done well at making the Steam Deck a 'play things out of the box' experience but there may be occasions where you'll need to do a bit of tinkering. If that happens there's thankfully a lot of good community resources out there to help you work through it.

I use it for work, my personal desktop, and naturally my Steam Deck. It's far from being the majority but it is becoming increasingly common thanks to Valve.

Have you played since the 2nd patch in the last few days? From what I've heard it's a reasonable improvement but I haven't booted it up yet.

There is certainly a degree of popularity to streaming, with the convenience and less upfront cost. Part of it is also the fact that we increasingly don't have other options if we want to own media. Like you mentioned, Nintendo is the perfect example with their subscription service being the only way to play those games on modern hardware. If Microsoft does indeed keep this as a separate option, then that's totally fair game. I'm just unfortunately not optimistic about what the service will become in the future.

Adoption always comes with a certain level of trauma that not all people are prepared to help the child work through. There are also a lot of unknowns that come with it that can be challenging, both medically and behaviorally, that are lessened by having a biological child.

Naturally, it's also much more straightforward to have your own kid if there aren't fertility issues.
