Actually no. How the fuck do you piss not into the toilet while sitting? That’s the big advantage of sitting down, that and the extra comfort, you don’t have to aim.
The only times this has ever happened was when I was completely hammered and didn’t sit down properly.
Honestly I don’t even see how this is physically possible. Unless you literally do not have a dick there should always be enough - let’s say range - available to bring the urine exit point below the toilet bowl edge.
I feel weird writing this down.
My biggest gripe is that the all feed is not actually the all feed from across the fediverse, but a feed from all instances your instance is federated with. I understand why that is the case, but the fediverse really lacks a way to explore beyond your walled garden and its natural bias. Essentially this acts a mandatory content filter that I have not set up or opted in to, which I personally object to. I have the tools to show and hide what content I want to see, I don’t need it pre selected for me. Or at least give the the additional option to see a feed of all instances and communities across Lemmy / the fediverse I have not personally blocked or filtered out.
As a bald and bearded dude I hate that this guy ruined the aesthetic. At least I have lighter hair color so it’s not completely terrible. Is this what men felt when Hitler took the stache and made it his brand icon?
It is mostly serious. There is plenty of scientific evidence on how car centric infrastructure, city planning and policies have destroyed walkable cities and require an in proportion extreme amount of space and accommodations. Cars as a means of transportation are wholly inefficient, you could put several dozen daily commuters into a single bus, multiple times that in a single subway train.
The only space where cars are not short term replaceable to great improvement of the general habitability of the area is in rural regions where distances are huge, people are spread out widely and communal infrastructure is simply too inflexible to accommodate the needs of the citizens.
You will need to make a new one.
Personally I recently did the same because lemmy.world didn’t commit to defederating meta and I didn’t want to stay there, but I am not very happy on .ml either, I get an insane amount of tankie crap on the all feed now and apparently no more nsfw posts.
I’m an anti capitalist myself but I strongly oppose the idea that someone preselects what communities are visible to me, on .world it felt much more organic and well rounded.
Ultimately I will just have to make my own instance i suppose.
Boomers say that because historically, with increasing age people usually also managed to have some things they might want to conserve, like a home and some financial assets to cover their retirement. I’m in my mid thirties and the only feasible way for me to ever own a home is inheriting one. My retirement plan is to die in the revolution. I have nothing to be conservative about
So, according to his wiki link he seems to have a very reasonable position for someone who has that particular religious belief. Supposedly he has explicitly expressed his support for the right have abortions when the American Supreme Court repelled the law that guaranteed it. He also supposedly is a democrat voter, in support of the separation of church and state, and ashamed of current republicans.
For someone who is against abortion he seems to hold the most reasonable and supportive position possible.
You just described the demographics of the average early tech adopter.
Old enough to understand the importance of privacy and to care about the federation aspect of the fediverse, tech savvy and nerdy enough to not be discouraged by an unfamiliar interface and still developing environment. And apparently we like Linux too.
I don’t think I have ever given a shit about the bubble color, and I’m an iPhone user for well over a decade now. I don’t know anyone who actually uses messages for their main communication, they use other apps for that.
As a former "text book" leftist I am inclined to agree that good will alone is not enough for humanity in its current state to operate a society on, and that many current day leftists are wearing the same rose tinted goggles for the USSR and China that the right wears for the 50s.
We need both incentives as well as strict limits to remain within healthy behavior at large, otherwise we end up with apathetic full time unemployed people on the lower end as well as cancerous outgrowths like individuals possessing billions, living like feudal lords of medieval times.
Incentives tied to employment in the current form are not practical any more though. With continuing industrialization, automation, and the emergence of artificial intelligence on the horizon the economies of the world simply don’t need those people as workers any more. This leads to the UBI as the next logical conclusion to provide the consumer base our economies depend on with disposable income to participate as well as a means of securing their essential needs. This then means the incentive must be different, personal ideas are to tie the UBI to the individual being at least x hours per month engaged in some kind of productive and/or creative outlet, be it education, community work, pursuing interests, or some other form of value provided to society based on the individual‘s interests and abilities.
Basically the Star Trek federation philosophy of personal improvement (enhanced with some basic incentive to participate), mixed with the communist idea of assigning professions based on ability, except with the individual freedom to choose instead. Do something worthwhile, and if it’s just pursuing a hobby, and thats good enough.
I think the 196 community is the originator, though I already didn’t know what they were about when on reddit, I mostly find their posts confusing. From what I understand the (only) rule is that the post title must contain the word rule.
Based on the assignment the kid could have gone even more racist with blackface and a hard R. So I guess this is the "good" ending?
You don’t need "an opinion" on that, it’s a simple fact for decades now. The polish people are largely devout christians, voting religious right wingers and populists into office. They in turn weaken the polish democracy to further secure their power.
If the tech were to be made widely available I would welcome it very much. There are plenty of spaces where people really shouldn’t be filming, mainly the gym, that would benefit from a passive and mandatory camera deactivation for all smartphones.
On the other hand, giving this to the government or law enforcement obviously is a massive breach of civil rights and the citizen's ability to exercise control over their public servants.
