I wholeheartedly believe that all forma of unsolicited or public advertising should be completely banned. Nothing good comes from it, it is only a nuisance to everyone.

Fuck, this is seriously bad news

*"The group used “sophisticated computer scripts” and software to scour piracy services"*

They used the basic tools that most(?) pirates use today like sonarr and radar??

I don't mind people pirating...i do mind people pirating and profiting from redistribution.

They're poor...fuck 'em, who needs them!?

They are 100% not patching old chips intentionally by not allocating resources to it. It's a conscious choice made by the company, it is very much "on purpose".

I think 3.5" are usually priced better per tb than 2.5" drives and performance is usually better too. So unless you feel like burning money for an inferior solution, are have some space constraints that doesn't allow 3.5" drives, I wouldn't go with 2.5" drives. They're more energy efficient though, but you'd need a fuckton of drives for that to make a worthwhile difference in your power bill.

Oh I don't care that the IP owner don't get money.

IDK, I just don't like the ethics of pirating media for profit, the entire idea is that it should be accessible to everyone, not just those with money. Cover your operational cost? Sure....Making millions in subscriptions? That is an asshole move IMO. If you're paying, you might as well pay the people who are making the media in the first place instead of some rando that had nothing to do with it.

I am confused then what is Congress' problem here?

The data is also available to DJI, and through them the CCP.

For now, the concrete supercapacitor can store a little under 300 watt-hours per cubic metre

OK then, so this is incredibly far from being near any real world application

They just need a way to let users grant that store the necessary permissions to install and manage apps, which currently requires root

No it doesn't? I'm using fdroid to install and manage apps just fine on an Android device without root access.

They absolutely did. I used to pirate all my media 20 years ago, but then streaming became so convenient and relatively cheap that I just didn't bother with it anymore.

Now, they've pretty much pushed me back out to sea with their ever increasing prices and decreasing content that's worth watching. I'm not paying $15-20 per service, when they insist on fragmenting it to hell so I'd need 3-4 subscriptions to watch the things I want.

That website asks you to consent to sharing your data with 848 partners, so here's the article text:

Carissa Véliz is an expert in ethics applied to technology. The Spanish-Mexican philosopher, who does not provide a date or place of birth to protect her privacy

Oh the irony...

Elon ripped out the LiDAR

No he didn't...He never even installed it in the first place.

Stop using your ISPs router and they're not going to have much control over it.

Nono, it will always only be used to catch criminals, that won't change...it's what makes someone a criminal that changes.

But then again, we also have pretty much every EU group pushing for super invasive chat control. It's ridiculous how schizophrenic they are on the subject of digital privacy.

Gee officer, we dun' kno' nothin' 'bout no hacking stuff sir...

I wonder why they didn't apply any of their lesson's learned from the 13 models to the 16...it's not like they're starting from scratch with no knowledge, several of the issues mentioned should not exist on a concept that has had multiple iterations already.

Windows will continue as always. The "normies" as you call them don't give a shit about this. They want things they use on a day-to-day basis to work with no interference from them, they really don't care how.

What a fucking ridiculous workaround that's completely unavailable to the regular consumer...fuck Samsung (and the industry in general) for this approach.

When has anyone ever cared about (total) range of a PHEV/ICE? It'll be a 5min stop for another 600 miles on pretty much every PHEV/ICE out there anyway. It's a pointless metric for that type of vehicle.

I tried blocking anything Amazon in my adguard home instance...holy shit that broke a lot of sites, I had to unblock it to have functional internet.

Never by the first model og anything really, everything is rushed to market and nothing is done properly the first time.

keep your main phone in a secret/secure pocket.

Terrible idea, it will be found with absolute certainty if you're arrested.

you "have to" bring it to Tesla for repairs and service

That's some big ass quotation marks, because it's not true at all. I've only had mine fixed by Tesla when it was a warranty issue. The service I've had done (brakes, general checkup and AC) have been done by a local shop without any issues. Had a fender bender that was fixed by a local shop too without any issues.

I think the persistent borderline spam-posting about this, coupled with exclusively linking to your own site, is triggering a negative response from some/many people.

You offer nothing about this tech or topic, only links taking people away from Lemmy and on to your site. If you want to spread the word, you should actually write something in your Lemmy posts explaining what it is, why to use it etc. to get people interested, and then they can take a deep dive on your site if they want. Currently your posts are too low effort with just links and not a single word attached.

We had a coworker that got fired a while back, man that was a relief for the entire department. That person was absolutely toxic to work with, or even near.

Then you have to install other software I have no knowledge of to make a bootable drive

Eh, this is the same for windows as well, you always need some sort of installation medium to boot and install from regardless of OS.

I think the popularity of tamagotchis in the 90's disproves that statement.

MicroUSB is absolutely one of the worst connectors ever designed, perhaps only surpassed by the SCART connector.

No they are just choosing not to roll out the fix to a known issue, which is screwing customers over on purpose (to increase profits). It's not a matter of goodwill, they sold a product that then turned out to have a massive security flaw, and now they don't want to fix even though they absolutely could.

Unless it's "load this file on a USB stick and plug in in your TV"-easy, it's still out if reach to most consumers.

But my point is, it shouldn't be necessary to do these things in the first place. Fucking drop the "smart" element from them completely, they always suck ass anyway and are laggy as hell to navigate.
