But the big question is, did google provide good answers for the third tab?

To add: we are not paying (for) anything, we are not the product, all the costs are covered by volunteers. So if a server is a bit wonky or slow, remember that you're not entitled to anything.
And as you said, the software needed to go from 20 to 100 in a blink of an eye. Where they thought they would have time to handle everything gently and in due course needed to be done much faster.
Furthermore, most developers also run an instance (which suddenly needs to be scaled and troubleshot), need to answer questions, moderate, handle PR's on github and solve bugs. All while also having a family and other acticities to attend to.

You've never watched a romatic movie or chickflick have you?

This is something that happens in every war, but it's difficult in this particular one since there is a very slim chance other countries will come to the rescue. So it's all up to the Ukrainians themselves to cope with this thread/war.

I've been on the verge of cancelling my subscription for multiple times now. But everytime I try an alternative it's missing something (for instance capture one mobile does not do masks/layers...), and so I keep shipping shitloads of money to a company which has dickass privacy rules and extorts you out of money.

This isn't a too shabby of an idea. It probably won't be used but a mix of stores and homes in one building sounds great.

On macOS you need to do that quite a couple of times. Changing settings, installing stuff to run in the background, install stuff to open open login, etc. So it is there. Furthermore a lot of programs and guides for linux are written to make it easy so they use sudo but you don't always have to run it as root. But not doing so usually requires more steps. So linux is more restricting but to circumvent that, people use sudo a bit too much.

Leaning on Google’s expertise in privacy and security

Lol. Google's expertise on privacy. Yeah, they probably know really well how to circumnavigate all those pesky privacy rules.

It always goes like this. Starting out a baddy, but after half an hour and a couple of evil decisions later I creep towards the good side.

Reddit must be laughing hard. They wanted to kill off all 3rd party apps but are now going to make a nice buck while still achieving allmost the same. Well played... well played...

I'm curious what it is and what it's supposed to do. Especially the orange juicer at the end of the chain...

I think I remember that it was explained as follows: the link next to the title shows where the thread (or link or image) is hosted. Since kbin.social has a copy of the thread on it's servers, it shows it is from there (clicking on the title will get you there). If you post a link from, say cnn.com, the text will say "cnn.com" as that is where the title-click will get you and where the text is hosted.

I don't think this is a shitpost, it's actually quite good. It makes you think.

You little shit...

Does your girlfriend use your devices or accounts? Seems very strange to me that they would do that. Or they want to fuck you over even more by making it less easy to deny that you didn't create that account since the password is linked to you/your girlfriend. But then again, LE would need to be made aware of the password before that makes sense.

@sirboozebum I really hope for the people in all those places that went to shit when the factories got closed, that this will bring income and luck to them.

That would be a really great read about the behind the scenes. Looking forward to read it, whenever you have the time (and motivation) to write about it.

Very nicely done. Although you would probably disagree.

I too miss reddit sometimes. Mostly because it had such a large userbase that there was always something interesting to find/read. If you had the right subreddits it was a very nice and friendly place. I like the fediverse (I'm on mbin) but there are still some hurdles to take. Such as finding nice magazines not on your home server. There are some lists and stuff, but I just want to search in the search bar of the site and find them. Also, there is still a 20 year gap of information. If you have a question it is most likely already asked at reddit. So searching on DuckDuckGo or Reddit will almost certainly give you an answer. Searching on the fediverse won't give you the same hitrate. Especially for more non-mainstream subjects. For instance: I have a specific kind of motorcycle, the magazine on the fediverse is dead. Not one post, no activity (so that's my fault as well). On reddit, there a couple of thousand threads. I just recently decided I wanted to interact more on the fediverse (hence this reply) to put in my effort to keep the fediverse alive, active and growing. I just need to find some subjects to start a relevant and interesting new thread.

I don't think lemmy/mbin/etc. will be as popular since it's too much trouble for the non-techies. I do think mastodon/misskey/etc. is quite active and interesting. It's better then twitter. And since I follow the right people I really like pixelfed instead of instagram. I think those are better, but it is an adjustment. Since you have to put in the work to find the right people to follow. And while I dislike the instagram algorithm, it did offer some very good, high quality photography. But I think it's going the facebook way. Facebook in it's early days was a great way to see what your friends and family where up to. Now it's just old memes, stupid jokes, fake news and advertisements. Instagram is becoming that as well.

You can put it in a work profile and trust that Android is protective enough to keep your data safe and access limited. Otherwise buy a second phone just to put WeChat on it. Don't know how WeChat works, but if it's like Whatsapp then you don't need to bother with a secondary number.

I don't get why they say that? Sure, maybe the attackers don't know that I'm on Ubuntu 21.2 but if they come across https://paperless.myproxy.com and the Paperless-NGX website opens, I'm pretty sure they know they just visited a Paperless install and can try the exploits they know. Yes, the last part was a bit snarky, but I am truly curious how it can help? Since I've looked at proxies multiple times to use it for my selfhosted stuff but I never saw really practical examples of what to do and how to set it up to add an safety/security layer so I always fall back to my VPN and leave it at that.

Damn, that's some graphic shit. I could feel the spray hitting my ankles while reading it. Got to scrub extra hard under the shower tonight.

Holy crap, that's bad. They certainly need to make it one behemoth app for all these permissions to be legit. But otherwise, why do they think people want to use Threads so bad that they agree to use all this. (apparently already 10 million people, if these numbers are legit and not bloated due to link with instagram).

So better?

@stappern How did it ruin the commute? Have some weird embarassing images of what happened now.

I use AnySoftKeyboard. Multi language (as far as I know) customizable, recommended by privacy people, has a lot of the non-alphabetical characters under long-press on the main keyboard (or you swipe or press the button to reveal them)

What's the "deepness" in this picture? It's literally social media appearing as a drug.

Oh and to answer OP: fentanyl

I'm sorry man. You're the best. Don't give up.

What a shock, BaaS is not interesting anymore.

I do believe she feels raped, and I do feel the sexsomnia excuse is BS especially since other experts say that sexomnia exists only in papers used to defend rapists. There should've been a fair trial to determine if the rape indeed occured according to the rules of law (that does not mean she cannot feel violated if that's ruled out though). But to say that you just blindly need to believe her, or the accused is a but too much for my taste.

I will probably not be liked for this opinion but I hope we don't fall into the trap of always believing one or the other side without critical thinking. The victim deserves to be believed so that there will be an investigation and a court ruling and the accused deserves to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise. The judicialsystem is not flawless (see this example) and the negatives from those flaws have impact on both the accused and the victim. Only not always in the same amount or in the same time.

The search for communities is a bit of a pain, but !newcommunities has new communities (so not a lot of content yet) and https://browse.feddit.de/ has also a nice overview. You can also scroll through all the new posts and look for communities you like. There are also communities on kbin. Usually when you follow a couple of communities, you stumble upon others.

The same as how I would pronounce "giraffe" but without the "ira" and "e".

I think black people are people, and friendly as well.

I see a lot of people have big meta thoughts and feelings. But mine is relatively small. I find that I live in a different reality since a lot of co-experienced events are remembered differently by the others. Let's say a work meeting, when I think that it was a nice calm and friendly meetig others are heated and steaming by all the insults. The same with emails and other communications Also with a sportmatches. For instance when I really enjoyed a match and thought both teams did a nice job of performing, the media paints a vastly different picture where one team was really awful and performed well belowed standards.

So my perception of reality seems really of from the rest of the population.

They want to be a mod and be important. All the gamer buddies have a discourd channel, so it's cool to have one. I know, I've been that way.

I hope /r/FemaleDatingStrategy will not find it's way to the Fediverse (or the male equivalent of it).
And for behaviour, I hope people will be more open and have a more open mindset and can understand people live differently in other parts of the world.

Who hasn't done that?

It can go all kind of ways. But no matter whether they are blocked or not, they will build their own platform and add 'value' to it. And with 'value' I mean something most people like to use and what makes people feel like they need to be on that platform.

Maybe it will federate with the rest, maybe they're just looking at how they can couple facebook, instagram and whatsapp together through federation. And maybe all three will enter fediverse and you can federate with them. Of course while missing some 'key' features of those platforms. Or they just want to scrape the platform and build on that. Who knows what META will do and how they will do it. They want to be relevant and make money by selling data.

Okay, treating this seriously. No: triple triple = 333 333 333. Triple triple triple = 333 333 333 333 333 333 333 333 333.

You have to skip the bigger communities and just sort 'new' on your subscribed view. That way you'll only see content about other topics. It helps me to stay away from the reddit and twitter storm. But people are happy and proud of themselves that they left, so they need to vent.
