They don’t pay taxes to the city of Rome either, despite using our services and infrastructures: they use Rome’s sewage system but don’t pay for it, they use Rome’s garbage collection system but don’t pay for it - we are talking about private homes, not just churches. They don’t pay for the police service, streets maintenance and so on. The Vatican is s literal parasite of the city of Rome and the Italian nation as a whole. They are not an independent state, they depend on us for everything, hence they should pay taxes for the social services they use.

Mussolini invented fascism, not Italy . Lots of Italians fell for it and supported it, the rest of the population - the vast majority - had to endure it and were straight up forced to live by its rules through persecution, imprisonment, violence, oppression, physical torture, displacement and homicide. Google the crimes of the Camicie Nere. Millions of Italians were killed because they wouldn’t accept the dictatorship. Look up the Partigiani fighters, they are the true heroes of the anti-fascist fight. Google the Fosse Ardeatine Massacre as one of many examples. Americans fancy themselves the saviours but they stepped in very very late when all the hard work had been done already by the Partigiani. Italy is historically a socialist country, so to say “Italy invented fascism” is just wrong.

Religion: condemning love between adults and approving of marriage between adults and minors.

That’s not necessary, Americans unnecessarily carrying guns everywhere happens all the time

Or don’t carry guns wherever you go like a fanatical vigilante?! You Americans created a problem that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world.

You can take action without revealing your sources. Journalists and police officers do it every day. Politicians and businesses do it all the time. Yet the all powerful Catholic Church did nothing.

Religion poisons everything.

I’m from Italy and several of my friends are teachers: parents nowadays are so abusive towards teachers, they will blame the teachers for their lazy child’s low grades. It’s the teacher’s fault if the child fails tests, or if is unruly and gets reprimanded. Parents never blame their lazy, videogames-playing, social media-browsing kid for failing tests, nor they take responsibility for not ensuring they do their homework. They wait for the teachers outside the school to attack them, they criticise them with the other parents, they complain with the principal, they even move kids to other schools (where the cycle starts over)… everything but owing that their child just doesn’t study enough. Fanatical parents are a real issue

Because 1) orangutans are only one of the hundreds of thousands species affected by deforestation, and 2) catching, transporting and confining animals in zoos is hardly an improvement to their life: apes are social animals who live in large groups in large habitats, they suffer in zoos. 3) this is the commodification of sentient beings, ironically the very species they pretend to wanting to help. Greenwashing at its finest.

The Christian west is already extremely hateful on its own. There’s no hate like Christian love

Fascism is not exclusively about racism. It’s a government style were the first victims are the citizens themselves. Racism is a component of it.

If the only reason you don’t harm others is so that you’ll get a place in paradise, you are not a moral or ethical person, you are a an egotistical hypocrite and a fake “good person”. Non-religious people who don’t harm others simply because they respect them and just don’t want to harm them, are the truly moral ones.

They already get so much financial support from governments, and they pollute so much. Time for reforms.

I don’t understand, what’s the problem with the number 64 now?

That’s exactly the same in Italy, freedom of religion is constitutionally protected. So either there’s something the article is not reporting, ie they are forbidding praying on the pavements of the street blocking the pedestrian circulation (which I promise you does happen), or the ban will simply be vetoed by the court.

Yes!

It’s not about skin colour, it’s about a way of life that is considered too radically different from their own: racists assume that muslims don’t want to integrate in Italian society, don’t follow the rules, abuse women with their hijabs and restrictions of movement (muslim women can’t drive nor go anywhere without a male relative). The native Muslim community is so minuscule in Italy that most Muslims are immigrants and speak other languages Italians don’t understand and makes them suspicious. They are concerned they could hide weapons under their tunics and hijabs. They don’t like that they cover their face and can’t be identified. It’s the lifestyle that they are bothered with, the skin colour is irrelevant. Italians were equally racist against Albanians in the 90ies because they were migrating in Italy by the thousands per day and were committing a lot of crimes, and Albanians are caucasians.

What does that even mean…

Giovanni Gentile and Benito Mussolini invented fascism. Indeed, it’s history. Whathttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_fascism

it took a country to back it

So you don’t understand how dictatorship works, ok.

There is no such thing as humane slaughter. The whole process is inherently violent.

Well f*ck you. Why should others pay for your selfishness.

Nor Quatar nor the USA are extremely poor countries though

How can you comment and criticise an article that you haven’t read thoroughly?
