Whereas most races are content to evolve slowly and carefully over thousands of generations, discarding a prehensile toe here, nervously hazarding another nostril there, the Haggunenons would have done for Charles Darwin what a squadron of Arcturan Stunt Apples would have done for Sir Isaac Newton.

This is big news! We've got a lemmy community specifically about Digital Bioacoustics (technology and animal communication) for anyone interested.

(Which way should I be sharing community links on here?)

I don't think there is a scientific concensus on this. We are constantly finding previously unknown similarities between the minds of other animals and humans. I've put together a small lemmy community on animal communication and digital bioacoustics, it is somewhat related to this stuff.

Are these all pronounced exactly the same way?

I didn't want to read this article, and couldn't find a video about this article about a video from the media about how the media is spending too much time covering trump, but here is the original video that is about how the media is spending too much time covering trump that this article is about.

Edit: for clarity sake, that link is just to the Jon Stuart video that this article is talking about.

I'm pretty sure that in Israel, joining the military is not a choice.

Nope. You lose the account. You lose your community. Can't wait until someone comes up with a solution to this. Not sure if it is technically possibly with lemmy to switch over to a system that allows for this or not.

Last I checked, there is nothing like !digitalbioacoustics@lemmy.world on reddit, I briefly ran an animal communication sub there, but abandoned it when I switched over a few months ago. There's lots of exciting stuff happening at the intersection of AI and animal communication!

Edit: https://lemmy.world/c/digitalbioacoustics - I'm not sure which type of link works the best for people

Yeah, exploitation like this is a big concern in the digital bioacoustics community with groups like Earth Species Project.

So far as I know they are great, I mean it is a concern of theirs. They do some cool stuff, they have a fairly active discord with quite a bit in it.

Is this what it looked like to your eyes, or is this the result of a night setting on your phone?

I clicked this link in the Jerboa app and it opened into my browser where I wasn't signed in. Is it not possible yet to have lemmy links automatically open into the Jerboa app or is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?

I loved Nova, but a couple of years ago, I found AIO, and it just blew nova out of the water for me. I look around to see if anything better comes along, but so far, I've not seen anything that gets close to AIO for me. It is so customizable, everything on one vertical scrollable screen, email, notifications, calendar, apps, weather. I absolutely love it!

Can you please tell me what problem you had with snaps?

Mixtral is an amazing one that isn't super slow or require incredible hardware foe a decent speed.

In general this guy has really good videos/tutorials for the latest tools.

Here is an elephant translator:

I dont think its great or anything, a bit of a gimmick. Really, the most decoded animal language is probably prairie dogs, but I've not heard of anyone trying to make a translator for it.

Cold Shower.

Maybe a cold shower that has to be as long as the time it takes you to get into the shower from your bed. If it takes a minute to get into the shower, then you owe a minute of the coldest water.

I understand the reasoning behind us not all just joining the biggest one, but can you explain why we should join the ones that align with our values/content we want to see? If anyone on any instance can see everything that is on all instances(I think I'm understanding this correctly), then why does it matter what other content is on the instance that we choose?

Also, if the instance I am on shuts down then do I loose all of my comment/post history? Is there anything that I, as a user or community mod, can do to prepare for this happening so I can keep my own data and put it onto a new instance?

Thankyou! I can also confirm that both work for me in voyager as well.

Alright, thank you. Good to know!

Thanks! I really appreciate you saying that.

Any episode of any of these that especially stick out to you?

Yep, weird login problems with jerboa and connect

Amazing! Thanks so much for this, I really appreciate you taking the time to share this with me.

I don't see this, is it in an app or on a website?

Interesting, thanks.

TIL, thanks a bunch

This is especially wonderful if you have multiple Lenny accounts, all your inboxes in one place!

Juggle. You must have 3 similar ball shaped items around the house. There's lots of tutorials online. You get your blood feeling, body moving. Such a nice rush when you finally get that new pattern or trick you were working on.

Darknet Diaries is fantastic!

Just downloaded them, thanks for the recommendations!

Oh yes, hardcore history is so good.

Are there any episodes of these in particular that stick out to you?

Awesome, I'm sold! Downloading them now. Thanks so much for taking the time to write this. Looking forward to listening!

That's a fantastic point, I missed that. Thanks so much!
