https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.uk#Second-level_domains?wprov=sfla1

Until 10 June 2014 it was not possible to register a domain name directly under .uk (such as internet.uk); it was only possible as a third-level domain (such as internet.co.uk).

Perhaps these sites were registered before 2014...

Yep. It's quite literal, also from Wikipedia about Brooklyn heights:

Brooklyn Heights occupies a plateau on a high bluff that rises sharply from the river's edge and gradually recedes on the landward side.

Define acquainted. Is this a professional setting? Yes, I would expect to shake hands (I'm an American woman). Also, it varies by region/culture.

I've really fantasized about being able to view my stats after I die. I come back to word counts pretty often. Or how many "near misses" I've had, if any I suppose.

Quality. Thank you for posting.

Similarly when they walk in the house but don't shut the front door again, or open the fridge but never close it. I'm like waiting the whole scene to get back to that and missed the entire dialogue.

One reason people get radicalized online is that meme culture can quickly reduce issues to a punchline or a call to arms. And by circulating entirely online, with no checks on factuality or origin, memes and the joking around them can convey messages and provoke reactions with none of the back-and-forth that happens in person, let alone the learning acquired through research or deep study.

Something that is not talked about enough.

Care to elaborate "MFA via SMS only"? I'm not in tech and know MFA through text is widely used. Or do you mean alternatives like Microsoft Authenticator or YubiKey? Thanks!

There are some good suggestions, but I want to mention that you are being a bit hard on yourself. Pressure will not help creativity. Give yourself permission to relax. And realize that it gets harder as you get older, but don't punish yourself for time passing.

Echoing the others here, give yourself time to let your mind wander.

Ozempic is the big one, but there is Rybelsus, Trulicity, Wegovy, and others. They are for treating type 2 diabetes, but have been very popular for preventing type 2 diabetes, aka weight loss.

I was going to mention this. This squeaky metal door/gate noise is so overused in the XFiles that if I hear it in a movie today, I want to walk away. It's been 30 years! Get a new door sound.

Usually the community is built on a hill or a mountain. Often times the highest part of the town, geographically. The incline may be gradual or subtle, so you may not notice that it's taller than the rest of the area.

Similarly when streets (in the US) are named High St., it's literally the highest street in town.

I'm assuming you're American... If you have an SSN, you will get credit card offers. It's called prescreened offers. They get that information from credit bureaus, which already have your SSN. You can opt out if credit card offers and the bureaus selling your data for 10 years I think.

Keeping the rule of shorter first name with longer/complicated last name, I picked a few from my future pet possibility list. Pets names at our house generally have sci-fi origins.

Ditto. I'm the same as OP. Paid off student loans in 2019 and now I just have a mortgage. Let's forgive everyone's loans plz.

I have a moissonite ring, but it looks very much like a diamond. If you're looking for something different, I would check antique stores or estate sales to look for a second hand gem. You can always have it put in a new setting if the ring is too dated for your tastes.

US - new york, but not the city.

Hey! I won't be 37 for another two months!

There's so many acronyms here my head is spinning

TIL! thanks for the explanation.

No such thing

36 here, I obsessed over my albums throughout my teens and 20s, thinking that they would be an important artifact. I still have them, but haven't contributed to them with prints since maybe 2008. I keep saying I'm going to print pictures from my phone though...

dying and being reincarnated as an orangutan whose brain was surgically placed into their still living twin, only to find they are now pregnant by their ex lover's mother in law, who happens to be a powerful psychic and knows all the secrets that will turn life upside down for the handsome new guy in town who can't seem to ever keep a shirt on...

So where can I watch this?

I'm the apologetic drunk. I am SO sorry to everyone. Usually apologizing for being drunk or just my existence in general. Also, before I get to that point, I usually test to see if I feel (or don't feel?) my teeth.

I've been dreading it since 2020. I might turn my phone off the entire year.

Look, you're never going to change the 'lazy' person, that's just how they are. You're also not going to change how the 'hard worker' person feels about the lazy person. What you can do is change how you react to this situation. You'll need to set some boundaries. Tell hard worker "listen, lazy is my friend too and I really don't like it when you talk about this person behind their back. It puts me in an uncomfortable situation and I would appreciate it if you would keep that topic to yourself." Friendships evolve and this will either make it or break it. If it breaks, then hard worker was never that great of a friend to begin with. A friend respects boundaries.

Good luck, OP

Wow thanks! I play these on desktop all the time. I tried playing them from my phone browser and it wasn't the same. Didn't know there was an app! Thank you!

👀 Mind sharing that hazelnut cream puff recipe?

Also: my apple crisp is my favorite :)

I'm interested to know if the number of students taking the test has remained the same. If that number is dropping, it may skew the scores and tell a different tale.

Mediocre bassoonist here.

I really like folk instruments. I've been working on learning accordion, but I've put it down for a while. I'm going to make serious study a goal in 2024. Although I don't know what I'd do with it!

I'd like to learn to play to play the hurdy-gurdy or one it's relatives, the Balalaika , any fipple, or any of the hammered dulcimers.

In practicality, I should be a better keyboardist though

Thenks! I really don't want to be forced into an app, but it's good to know the reason why.

She's a real one.

Since the 80s? Old Spice had a pretty successful ad campaign in 2010, that's still present in pop culture today.

The Minecraft piece always reminded me of Eric Satie's Gymnopédie #1 https://youtu.be/TL0xzp4zzBE?si=-w9omSS-Xn_tnsZB

I'm certain you've heard it before. You may find the Wikipedia page on the compositions interesting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnop%C3%A9dies?wprov=sfla1

Anyway, I think the word you're looking for is melancholy.

I discovered frozen butterfingers this year... Game changer

Yes, I was thinking more like Dr. Manhattan. Have fun on Mars.

an old favorite for me is Prancer from 1989 with Sam Elliott. We taped it off the TV, so the old commercials and tracking lines and distorted audio all play into it. Man I miss that tape.
