People need to stop using Twitter. It's like trying to using AOL or whatever now. It's basically a dead product.

SpaceX, from a financial standpoint, is just an elaborate Ponzi scheme for Musk, who treats all of his companies as his private fiefdom and personal piggy bank. In reality, none of them are genuinely profitable, and depend on government subsidies and capital investments to survive. The goal is to just build a barely viable business and then scam people with bullshit promises. Any real cash flow is immediately converted into cash for his personal use. Though from time to time, he uses that cash prop up another of his ventures. Very likely, all of this will come crashing down at some point, and it will be revealed that his companies are nothing like what they seem.

Eventually, we will need a fediverse version of StackOverflow, Quora, etc.

This is the same conversation we had throughout the entire rumorwave about this project: Who is going to buy this and which developers will actually anything worthwhile with the new hardware? Because all signs points to an expensive console (at least $600) with the only upgrades being a slight graphical bump and higher resolution. There are no new gameplay features.

I think people would be much more happy with a smaller, more power efficient version of the PS5 instead.

Reddit has never been a business capable of generating significant profit. It only exists because it was less monetized than the alternatives. By abandoning this philosophy, Reddit is guaranteed to be the next Digg.

It's also why there's no way Google can sustain these numbers. They pay workers like a random startup, just without any possibility of striking it rich on stock options. They are likely to be hemorrhaging talent at all engineering positions.

Except I can totally see them committing securities fraud in order to pump up the numbers. It seems very much like something they would do.

That's the problem with decades of "fuck the poor" policies. Eventually, people will suddenly realize that they aren't in fact, "temporary embarrassed millionaires." They will find out that the policies they've been conned into supporting are specifically targeted at hurting them, and will drive them to utter destitution if not to the grave. The only good news is that these far right policies will do so much damage and cause so much pain that it will inevitably create the circumstances for its collapse.

It's no longer a good place for news, discussion, or even real opinions. It's just an echo chamber of hate and closed-mindedness, and increasingly just bots talking to each other.

The poster of this article is almost certainly some kind of troll. If not a Russian agent, a fascism sympathizer. If you look at his posting history, it is almost entirely about attacking the Democratic party and Biden. Even when he is "pro-progressivism" it is usually in the form of a concern troll.

As a result, everyone should ignore return2ozma. And it's probably time to block him entirely. Also, report him for being a troll, since he breaks the rules on a regular basis.

Blizzard has nothing to show.

In short, the death of Moore's Law is about the end of economic scaling of transistors. Packing more transistors on a chip does not save you money like it use to. This contradicts the point of Moore's Law.

Racism morons, not just morons.

They are neoliberal news sites. By normal definitions of the word, they are right-wing organizations.

Google will have to resort to human curation of search results at some point.

Tesla is nothing more than an elaborate stock pumping exercise built on a business of selling crappy cars to techbros. It’s valuation is propped up by lies, hype and virtual signaling. It also can’t survive without copious amounts of government subsidies and low interest loans, since the car business is so capital intensive. At some point, all of these problems will come to a head. It’s a matter of when, not if, that Tesla collapses in some form. Though it may be bought out before formally filing for bankruptcy.

The "midas touch" is basically just securities fraud. Something he can't get away with forever.

There’s a lot of tankies on Lemmy/Fediverse. They present a misleading picture of what people really think.

The problem is his dishonesty. It's likely watching Foxnews or Newsmax. Sure, you can do it, but unless you're intentionally about seeing the "other side" then it's a waste of time. You're just exposing yourself to right-wing and fascist propaganda.

There's zero chance that that poll was conducted properly. It claims that Trump is getting more Black support than any Republican since Eisenhower this year. That even includes Trump himself from both 4 and 8 years ago!

Honestly, Microsoft bought them because they thought it can magically catapult them to #1 in the gaming industry. And they have, in a sense. The advantage of having so much money that you can buy your way into the industry. But the problem is that Microsoft has no idea what to do next.

Yes. And it will be replaced by $80-100 games.

Cheating of this sort is almost always about someone who is already very good at the game. But it's simply not enough. They want to be the greatest, or do the impossible. They want to be legends instead of just being really good. And usually the only way to do that is to cheat.

Saying "both sides are equally bad" is a common tactic for those who want the bad side to win.

Everyone on the left that is reasonably informed is aware of the danger. Trump could plunge the US into a fascist dictatorship. As a result, we are all vigilant on trying to avoid it. But guys like return2ozma are trying to muddy the waters as much as possible.

So be careful with this line of thinking. Same goes for mods who tolerate him. History of such characters tells us that sooner or later, return2ozma will say something outrageous, like making statements blatantly in favor of overt fascism or whatever. Eventually, the mods will have to respond or face a crisis.

Then it would be another Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, etc.

Graphics are no longer a major selling point in most cases. Most people would be fine with a good game that works and isn't saddle with microtransactions, even if it means it will look somewhat worse.

Best Buy is going to be the next Circuit City. The only question is when.

The demo is focused on being anti-fascist. Biden just happens to be the main line of defense, if not the only one. Hence the sensitivity to those that only seem to attack Biden.

Anyways, if these people aren't going to be banned, then I will say this: Everyone should block every users that seems like a troll on this topic. And the same goes for any communities that seem "off" on this issue. And for problematic instances, demand your local instance defederate them entirely. Hopefully, decentralized social media will be able to avoid the disasters that happened in centralized social media.

I honestly think people left of center have lost their minds with this stuff.

You wonder how real some of these people are. They make a few topics the main reason to oppose Biden, but excuse them for any other politician, especially ones that will make it even worse. They always come off as non-American agitators. Many of which seem to be just Russian actors on top of that.

The company is pretty much a big scam. There’s a reason why Moskovitz calls it the next Enron. Musk would turn it into a crypto company if he thought it would pump up the stock more. As a result, the actual business side of Tesla doesn’t really need to work.

There are very few real communists left. On here, it’s going to be pretty much all tankies.

Polling has become a mess, mainly because we can no longer rely on landlines for generating unbiased samples. Most attempts at fixing this issue, such as online polling, have their own massive biases. So it's incredibly difficult to figure out what's real and what's not. And no, doing a hundred bad polls or increasing the sample size won't fix it. Bias in the data can only be fixed by figuring out a way of creating truly fair samples.

There are limits to that type of thinking. As someone that is very familiar with what happened at Reddit, Twitter, even Digg before them, you are absolutely playing with fire here.

Google is basically ran like Boeing. Their goal is to maximum the stock price regardless of long-term consequences.

Kbin/Mbin is like a hybrid of Reddit and Twitter. You can have both a content aggregation and a microblog system at the same time.

CNN has formally switched to being right-wing.

Very cherry-picked voting data. Rural Texas and New York after a huge scandal are very underwhelming examples.
