Maybe I shouldn't be judging, I'll admit also addicted to platforms like Reddit/Lemmy, but at least I fact check stuff and use critical thinking. I don't browse a platform filled with racist comments and go "hmm I love spending time reading stuff on this platform".

But seriously tho, I have nowhere to run to. Nowhere that isn't literally worse than the US. No place thats better than the US would accept US refugees because we are still technically a democracy, and the border agents at whatever country you apply for asylum would tell you to go back to the US and move to a Blue state. "Moving out of the country" is what people commonly say but its not a realistic solution.

My sympathy for Ukraine says they should.

My survival instincts as an American would say they shouldn't because then Russia get big mad and nuke us. I don't enjoy radiation, so my survival brain is saying they shouldn't.

But my suicidal brain after seeing the result of the US presidential election says: Fuck it, let them do whatever, hell we can even gift some to them. Climate is fucked anyways. Lets pretend this is a sandbox game and see what happens. What's the worst that can happen, die? Hehe I've been dying inside and November 5 just cut off my life support.

But the point remains, the military would never obey such orders. Biden would have to quickly fire the chain of commands until he finds such commander, find a unit in the military willing to perform such illegal act, carry out the act, then get senate to confirm new justices. Oh btw Democrats still believe in the rule of law, senate Democrats would never approve this, even if he orders 50 of the most conservative members killed (50 is quorum btw) there wouldn't be 25 democrats willing to confirm them. What would happen is republican house would impeach biden along with like 90% of democrats voting in favor, then the senate would probably like 40/50 dems voting to convict. Democrats would lose the electoral college like all the swing states against whatever republican is running, even if he tries to get the entire republican ticket killed, since non voting republicans would be raging against democrats. The Democratic party would have to disband and form another party to try to rebrand.

I mean Biden is not a dictator, he can only do what average Democratic politicians in congress would deem acceptable. I mean at this point its just political fan-fiction. This is civil war territory and any speculation would sound surreal and ridiculus.

I managed to learn english when I arrived in the US around age 8-10, now in early 20s, I aint gonna be able to learn 4 languages, I barely passed spanish class.

My parents get fed propaganda from Wechat (yes that Chinese app) saying democrats are letting too much illegal immigrants in, taking up too much resources.

We are legal immigrants, but shes doesn't see "illegal immigrant" is a dogwhistle about all immigrants that they dont like like black or brown people, or anyone they deem inferior.

Doesnt help the fact that Eric Adams and NYC democrats are building homeless shelters near Chinese American population.

My parents told me some of our relatives in NYC voted Trump, Asian Americans voting trump.

They say some Asian American co-workers at their workplace are supporting Trump.

My parent say "Its fine, we survived one term under trump"

Everyone who's a US Citizen in our household voted Kamala Harris. We tried. Our state PA still went red.

My US Citizen mom once said, "maybe we shouldn't vote for democrats, look at what they did in NYC (refering to homeless shelters)", and I reminded her about the Chinese Exclusion Act. So she vote Harris because I told her to. Like she didnt have a mind of her own. If her children turned out to be conservatives, she'd vote trump. Some people just dont care about politics. Similarly, some people have apolitical children but political parents, those children then vote for who their parents vote for.

We need to fix this voter apathy. Democracy is just broken.

Honestly I'd feel safer if we reduce the power of the federal government and put the power to the states. Sorry left-leaning people in red states, can't let states like yours drag the country down with you.

Technically they said Presidents and Former Presidents cannot be prosecuted for it, not give them the authority to. You still have to find a "yes-man" to obey those orders. Biden can try, tell the military to kill SCOTUS members for treason, they say "Sorry Mr. President No-can-do". Biden might be immune for trying to do it.

I hate this reality, but remember that in 1950, Black Americans were literally being lynched. I don't think a trump presidency is worse than that or even nearly as bad, at least not this soon. If dems dont win the midterms and get a 2028 trifecta we might have a problem.

Remember, the US has federalism. Power is shared between the states and the federal government. The federal government dont have the manpower to literally put people in concentration camps, not yet.

If you live in a red state or red city, move, now. Move to a Blue State and Blue City.

Federalism is our last defence against fascism. Democracy might be dying, but it aint dead yet. The Climate however, thats another story :(

Only thing an average person can do is try to get people to vote, midterms, presidential, local. Every election Primary or General. Low turnout in Primary could lead to disasterous candidates.
