I get the bad mods argument but tarring a whole community based on this isn't cool.

Don't get me wrong, .world has some really big ass hats and questionable moderation, but it doesn't mean all their users are bad.

By that logic, you're dragging down lemmy.ca. Though I don't really take that line of logic, cause I ain't a dick.

If everyone you look at is trash, either they are, or you are. You'd need some self-awareness and comprehension of the history of Lemmy (including the fact that Lemmy.ml was the main instance before the influx, and after, Lemmy.world had major reliability issues for a while). Many people ended up on ml and don't really suffer the red scares.

The amount of "I got banned off ml for saying x. Didn't realise it was as bad as Reddit which I also got banned off multiple times". I mean if folks are getting banned of a right wing cess pool and a left wing instance, is the issue the instances, or them.

We can debate this all day long but we all know torque is cheap.

Labour were like 1% point better than 2019. The only difference was the collapse of SNP, and the collapse of the Tory nationalist vote that ran to Reform.

Labour just walked the ball into the open net.

Maybe, but Intel operates there so the labour pool is probably quite skilled already. Perhaps good supply chains too.

I've felt this for a while.

When dirty tricks are at play, it's best to resist.

Don't get me wrong, they've made some bad decisions, but the world is a darker place without them.

My take wasnt that this is bad news. My take is moving from 1 poison to another is not a good thing. There are studies either way, and it's worth considering where the scientists funding came from. Industry do invest in research for a reason which can result in more studies.

The following summarises some of the risks. While my accuracy wasn't great, the conclusion that aspartame is safe is highly questionable. If you're promoting it like it's a great thing, it's a very bizarre take to have.

https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/news/behind-the-headlines/are-artificial-sweeteners-safe

Sugar is rubbish, but doesn't make artificial sweeteners good. Best things to drink are water, with maybe occasional fruit juice/smoothie. Not artificial rubbish.

Oh and the World Health Organisation considers aspartame a possible carcinogen. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/aspartame-risks

Football season is good and I've always preferred grass to astroturf. Industry are always gonna push the "there is no proof" until the deaths/illness become hard to ignore and the profit already made.

Or finding much of it poor quality.

You grew up on reddit?

Oh gosh. Forgot all about that shit. No thanks.

Do AMD not realise that Linux/Privacy nerds stuck with them regardless for years. Would they have survived without that loyalty?

Corbyn, and no. He got 40% in 2017. Keir only 34% here. When the right wing turned on him, including Streeting and his Progress chums on countless occasions there isn't a lot you can do.

The right of the Labour party won't tolerate a left wing party, but the left wing are much more professional, despite treatment of Abbot, Corbyn and others joining strikes.

For many years AMD was uncompetitive compared to Intel / Nvidia. Intel had 80% of the market at one point. It probably would have died off if it wasn't for folk that wanted Linux compatibility. Many run FOSS because of privacy. Linux is a key part of that.

Selling jpegs as addons is good for gamers?

All they're doing with DLC is milking existing code.

Very much so, and apologies if my last sentence was a bit heavy. I'm a bit too used to reddit and the astroturfing that goes on there.

I agree with most of what you said here but do take exception to point about the risk not being extensive compared to other things we are exposed to. I think we should not accept hazardous materials because we are subject to them elsewhere. I'm not a hairdresser, but risks to their health should be eradicated. Harmful particulate should be eradicated, and aspartame too. Let's take bullets out of the chambers handed to us in this corporate run game of life Russian Roulette.

Or-der.... Or-derrrrr?

It isn't rocket science. You recruit from the market or train your own.

It's painful they do not get this.

I'm assuming because they don't have those AI engineers. I don't agree with this or AI, but diversification isn't something that can be ignored.

They need to focus on browser and bet on things that could succeed in the future. Winding down those bets that failed (like 3d visual worlds) is sensible.

Of the 60 they are laying off, how many of those work on Firefox?

But they are forks and they rely on Firefox development. Using them is fine, but with Mozilla funding and keeping up with browser development, they'd be poor

Its a bit like Brave taking Chromium, changing a few lines and saying "we built a browser".

Not sure it's centre left.

They campaigned on being hard on immigration and not increasing taxes to increase spending.

Keir has been quite deceptive and dropped all the policies he claimed in the leadership. He could be more right wing than Blair. So probably center right. The right wing of the party took over. Funded by business.

The other one is dead. Up to you.

Very true. Just not to the ultra nationalists and racists that ran to reform.

I'm confused. I remember when they shitcanned Xbox One version in favour Bedrock which was a buggy mess. Strategically they wanted everyone to play together which made sense and Bedrock progressed. This feels a bit like a betrayal. I guess values go out of the window when there is enough money on the table.

They can also use Yahoo or Bing as default for money.

The other option is diversify your revenue. Which is likely where the ad stuff comes in. If they can do that in a privacy respecting way with a facility to opt out, I have no objections. The loss of the biggest open source chromium alternative is massive and unthinkable.

For all the flaws of Mozilla, no one has forked, done better and put it out of business. It's easier to run it behind a keyboard with zero responsibility.

True, but it probably won't work. Unless the browser pulls them in as plugins and becomes modular. Most are trying to give a rich web experience out of the box and I'm not sure users will accept different programs for different things.

I really like Gemini as an idea and hope it finds it's groove for many, but lots of mainstream users may not like it and the ad industry that people are using to fund there sites certainly won't.

Men. Original skate was so boring. I gave up after a few hours.

And increased amount of aspartame and asulfate k, that can have an even worse effect on blood sugar than sugar can. Industry still making a killing.

Remind me when they tried to cut CO2 by pushing folk to diesel...

But yeah, only Coca-Cola is really drinkable now as most moved to artificial sweeteners which IMHO taste like chemicals.
