I remember reading that when national parks tried to make a 'bear-proof' trashcan, they found that there was a larger overlap between the smartest bear and the stupidest human to make a viable product.

I feel like it's a similar situation here. The smartest kid and the stupidest adult are far more similar than we'd like to admit.

She was dropping her son off as school. Her son was still in the car. She drove into the bus lane accidentally. The officer's response was that he was "scared she was going to run someone over" .. while her son who goes to the school is in the car. You could verify that in a 5 second radio call to the front office.

We need to re-think policing in general if cops are allowed to enforce their worst fears instead of seeing what's actually happening.

What? The guy who fired people who slept in their offices at Twitter fired more people who were sacrificing their personal lives for one of his companies?

Ya don't say.

It was already illegal - It was human trafficking.

It'd be nice to have people enforce the laws we already have first instead of this security theatre.

It's frustrating to no end that fingerprints and face ID are treated like passwords when they should be treated like usernames.

Because those two metrics are meaningless for the average person.

Inflation is trending down... After it skyrocketed and is still way above affordable ranges.

Employment rates are high... But those jobs don't pay living wages.

Go check how much savings the average American has, check what an average doctor's visit costs, and then maybe you'll understand the gloom.

... What? The final straw was .. not having 100% up-to-date information on the gender expression of every child in the state?

The fuck?

That's not doing facial recognition though, that's a reverse image lookup. It's a lot easier to find an exact match for a photo.

I used to be an incel, but probably not in the way you'd think. I mean it in the original use of the term, that is, I was a queer kid in a small town and there was not a single person in town I was attracted to who was also attracted to me.

I moved to a big city, and things got a bit better but I still had issues in meeting new people with meaningful connections. I expected to just stumble upon the perfect partner that loved me exactly as I was, even though I hated myself.

It wasn't until someone basically slapped me in the face with the question, "Well, would you want to date YOU?" that it started to make sense. I was spending so much time looking for "the perfect partner" that I forgot to work on myself to become the perfect partner FOR that perfect partner. Once I stopped "looking" for them and instead started working on making myself a better person that things started falling into place.

The only person you have to live with your entire life is yourself, so make sure you love yourself first and people will be attracted to that. No one wants to be with someone who hates themselves and everyone around them.

I have been staunchly anti-gun personally, but it feels like it's time to arm myself. The threats are becoming credible.

At least 3 sources confirmed this "Private conversation".

Seems not-so-private then? How do we keep getting news reports of these "private conversations" every week?

It's sad that she's likely repressing a LOT of gender dysphoria, but just doubles down on the bigotry and hate. Fuck JK Umbridge.

All direct quotes:

I believe I could have been persuaded to turn myself into the son my father had openly said he’d have preferred.

As I didn’t have a realistic possibility of becoming a man back in the 1980s, it had to be books and music that got me through.

I remember how mentally sexless I felt in youth.

Fortunately for me, I found my own sense of otherness, and my ambivalence about being a woman...

It's so frustrating that she's 100% in the wrong, but this is still going to legitimize her complaints about Hunter Biden. I can already see the responses complaining that her son got arrested, therefore so should Hunter.

I hate it here.

Yeeter/yoinker

IMO, this makes it look even worse.

Churches "sponsor" people in other countries all the time. They could do the same for two people in the nearest city, they don't have to force people to relocate.

There is actually an easy fix - build houses and give them to people. I remember when "Habitat for Humanity" was so much more prominent in churches.

"If you're comparing two words and won't say one of the words.. That's the worse word!"

I'd be fucking erratic and noncompliant too with my FACE IN A FIRE ANT HILL

Yep! "What do you call someome who believes in a literal Satan?" .. "Christian."

No, I haven't been, and that's why I said personally. The reason why I never wanted a gun in my house is because of looking at the statistics of who is by far the most likely to get shot by that gun. [Either me or my spouse.]

I am all for responsible gun ownership and made the personal choice not to get one because the threat of my government has not been a credible threat. That is changing, which is why I am trying to decide to make the personal choice to get one. The increased risk to both myself and my spouse is nearing the tipping point where NOT having one is a greater risk from my government.

And I'm sure this in no way will invade people's privacy.

"Why is my neighbor receiving ads for anger management? Hmmm..."

This was the same reaction I had when the Covid vaccines were rolling out. "They haven't been proven to be 100% safe and effective!" OK. Sure, but you know what is guaranteed to be bad for you? Covid. There are two choices here, and there's a clear mitigation of harm with one option over the other.

It's shocking that we'd rather see children die of treatable vitamin deficiencies than the off-chance that the food 'might be unsafe'.

UV light is both: A. Damaging to eyesight. B. Invisible.

You won't know how much damage you're doing to yourself until the damage has been done. This is how you give mass amounts of people eye trauma, and potentially blindness.
