Honestly, just less waste. Wasted time, wasted hardware, etc. We spend so much time building devices that are meant to break, and be unfixable,, and making software that fights the user instead of helping. All in the name of profits or something.

We could be making so many cool things, but instead we're going back and forth not making any progress.

I just told myself earlier today that I should learn how to actually use awk, rather that copying from the internet. Thanks for this!

This is one of those things that I'll save and then never use.

When I wake up while it's still dark in the morning, I can hear the sound of trains in the distance. Specifically no horns or anything, just the sound of the engines / metal on tracks.

Bonus points because it was lightly raining today.

I'm normally a lurker but I try to contribute stuff for the sake of the fediverse.

cmus is great, it checks all my boxes, and is much easier to work with than mpd imo. The only downside for me is that I can't see any of the cover art :(

We made a dispenser and bonk.

When I sort by All I see 90% of what I would be looking for on other sites, so it's a drop in replacement (at least for now). I spend less time overall on lemmy, but the time I do spend is less mindless scrolling, and more actually interesting posts.

This could be what you're looking for. Their main implementation is a gitea fork, but I've seen mentions of gitlab as well. Unfortunately I don't think github would ever consider being compatible, that would just lose them users.

Yeah. Termux is really useful to quickly ssh into something without having to go to my pc.

Celeste still has really nice lighting in places, imo, but you are right, it all just comes from good colour choice and artistic skill, not some premade graphics option that they flipped on.

I was originally using Jerboa, but scrolling was really laggy for some reason so I ended up switching to Liftoff and it's been much better.

Spend hours downloading / messing with proton / configuring, and then play for 15 minutes...

At this point I'm almost convinced I just like the setup process.

Otherwise probably quake.

I have the same issue. It's worse when the header is sliding in and out, but I have no idea what causes it. It's not unusable though, just a bit laggy.
