Based off the headline alone, I thought we were talking about an offensive military strike.

Daaaaaaaaaaaad!!!

It uses AI to rearrange and resize content when you are printing from the internet. The example is pretty compelling, but doesn't make up for everything else HP does.

A new CNN/SSRS poll shows that Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who is the Republican nominee in the Tar Heel State's 2024 race for the governorship, is now 17 points behind Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein with just five weeks to go before Election Day. The poll is notably the first survey of North Carolina voters since the news broke of an account believed to be Robinson making numerous racist, anti-Semitic, pro-slavery and even pro-Hitler posts on an adult website's message board.

Honestly, I prefer the last one. I'm not entirely sure why this is getting such significant hype around it. It is by no means a bad game, and it is very well made, but it just didn't feel as fun as the last one to me. IMO, the best thing about this one is the physics. They regularly add a ton of small things that you can knock around, and I had more fun playing with that than anything else in the game.

when I was growing up

This is really the key. We're all stupid and unaware of how things work and the particular goings-ons when we're kids. There were plenty of shitty people running the tech giant companies back then, but we just didn't realize the extent of what was happening.

Edit: The evolution of social media also adds a lot to this. We are both more connected to each other and society, and therefore more aware of BS think it's pulled by corporations. Then, of course, you have folks like Elon Musk who seem to make a point of making sure everyone knows how big of a piece of shit they are, and how proud of it they are.

Because people didn't dress up as mermaids and go to cons and express how deep down inside they truly are a mermaid, and have a high likelihood of fucking someone else who also felt the same way.

I love the black man in the background of the thumbnail. "Is this motherfucker serious??"

I am fully on the Sync train. It does get a lot of hate here because it's not FOSS, but it was the best app around for Reddit, and the dev converted it for Lemmy. It's so far above and beyond everything else that I'm happy to pay for it. There's a free version with ads, and there's the expensive paid upgrade ($20). The dev regularly disappears for months, but when he surfaces, he'll roll out a massive amount of bug fixes and features.

Yes

Belief is a choice, not fact. It's fair to hate a person for choosing bigotry.

My understanding is that the permits essentially allow you to disrupt things like traffic by having sections of the city cordoned off for gathering/marching. Take this with a grain of salt, as I've never had to actually deal with the permitting myself.

The filing centred around the 30% cut that the platform holder takes, with the developer arguing that Valve used "dominance to take an extraordinarily high cut from nearly every sale that passes through its store" and that it has used its position to "exploit publishers and consumers."

Isn't 30% standard in every store? Also, Valve certainly has dominance, but it's hardly a monopoly. There are more options than any other OS.

Lemmy is the only thing close to social media that I have. Very possible, and I honestly love it.

His stunt was lauded online as "top tier trolling," given that some right-wing political leaders and other transphobic figures behind attacks on LGBTQ+ people and rights have boycotted Bud Light this year because of its paid partnership with trans social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

For decades

I chuckled and continued scrolling, then had to scroll back up to verify if this was The Onion or not.

Ask them what they like, and then ask questions about that topic. Children are the easiest people to make friends with. They will be excited that you asked them anything about themselves, and if you continue to ask questions about what they like, they're going to adore you immediately.

Recently had a movie night where we watched Oscar. Only one person (the person that wanted to watch it) had seen it before, but it was their birthday, so we all sat down to watch. It is a fantastic comedy of errors movie with Sylvester Stallone. None of us could believe that we had never even heard of it before, because we all loved it so much, and laughed so frequently. Fantastic movie night movie. I can't recommend it enough.

Voyager has been working great and the developer is very active.

This is my biggest problem with Sync. The dev regularly disappears for extended periods of time. It's one of the reasons I have avoided dropping the money to get rid of the ads and pick up the lifetime ultra. If they were more communicative about what's going on in the dev cycle, I think more people would be okay with it, but disappearing for months makes people frustrated and they come off rather entitled, which I'm certain frustrates the dev, and makes them not want to work on Sync, continuing the cycle.

I've been happy with my Brother printer. If you don't need an inkjet printer, I highly recommend just getting a toner printer. The toner is significantly cheaper, for a significantly greater volume (at least it was the last time I had to buy some, which was ages ago).

This is why it's so, so, so important for us to vote this November in the US! I'm proud of you, France!

You're over analyzing it. These medications are prescribed all the time, especially for surgeries. They're only concerned if you start filling multiple prescriptions for the same narcotics at different pharmacies. They aren't going to care if you return the pills back. It's just going to go into a pile with expired medications to get destroyed. I doubt they would make any record of it. You don't have to take any painkillers if you don't feel they are warranted. I didn't take mine when I had my surgery. Once you have completed recovery, if you want to get rid of the medications, any pharmacy will carry the materials you need to destroy the medication safely. I don't remember what it's called offhand, but you can go to any pharmacy and ask for some packets of the stuff that destroys medications, and they'll just give them to you.

This is the WORLD NEWS community! Why is this here?

Life pro tip: If a community would ban you for using the word Nazi (assuming you're not being an asshole), make them ban you.

Arcane on Netflix. It is perfection to me. Fantastic characters, writing, and phenomenal art. For anyone who has not seen it yet that is curious to check it out after seeing this comment, I just ask that you watch three episodes before deciding if it's your jam or not.

You forgot to move the decimal over when converting it to a percent. It's 0.58%. I agree it's still not much, but it's one day. That stacks up fast.

Please don't post specific personal identifying information about yourself like this on the internet. This is something where a poll survey would give you much easier to digest results without jeopardizing personal information.

Pretty sure they're joking.

Moved several states away. Hired a company to load the truck I rented, and the same company to unload at my destination. A few days before moving day they called and said they couldn't commit to the reservation and cancelled on me, leaving me to scramble to find a new company to load up. Lucky I do and get to my destination without issue. They show up to unload and are not dressed properly at all. One of the two guys clearly doesn't want to be there and it's doing the absolute bare minimum each trip he makes. The other guy slips on the truck ramp and hurts himself. Decides the weather was too dangerous to continue (it had sprinkled a little bit like 30 minutes ago) and cancelled the rest of the move with literally all of my furniture still in the truck. I had to call around frantically on a Sunday morning to see if there was any other company that could come out immediately and finish moving. Thankfully I was able to find one and gave each of them a big tip for saving my ass.

Very smart of Microsoft to put a woman of color in that seat. Here's hoping that she can turn things around in the culture there.
