It's not simply a climate change. It's a coined term by the fossil fuel industry. Like BP introduced the individual carbon footprint, this one should also be ignored. It's a climate crisis.

Meat... :( We could all live without, but this damn learned behavior...

A court room with stale air and only him with his mask on. Surely, what could go wrong? I see no risks at all.

Just let him join remotely. What is the big deal here?

More VR games are welcome... however, limiting an already small market by platform exclusivity on Meta Quest really doesn't seem to be a great idea. I'm really sad about this.

Not if they continue with Enigma DRM.

Something like !upliftingnews@lemmy.world (is this the correct syntax?) ?

It historically stands for computer RPG. Because back in the days of the first role playing games transferred to computers calculating the dice roles, damages and other attributes. It was the distinction to tabletop games. Nowadays there are so many RPGs that I find the distinction lacking. The better term now would be classic RPG, because there are many computer action adventure RPGs, whereas the tabletop approach digitalised, like bg3, RPGs refer to the initial or, in better terms, classical RPGs.

In game science studies it is taught as classic RPG, in contrast to the more "modern" RPGs like Mass Effect or The Witcher.

It might not tick all your boxes but Chained Echos might be worth a try.

It's about the statistics from this post. And these only consider the steam players. :)

As we do not have a community on Lemmy that I know of, here a complete explanation of their service, their misdoings and more. This is pretty in-depth with references to other postings as well as articles and sources.

I don't know where you live, but if you have these thoughts, please look for the various general helplines telephone numbers, where you can talk with people trying to help and support you and giving you access to a better life. It might not be easy to see for you right now, but it is out there.

Only you can hear me, Summoner. Which masterpiece shall we play today?

Well, to be more precise, vegan stands for the lack of an animal's influence in a product. This distinction is important as mushrooms/fungi are not categorised as simple plants, vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and so on.

Anno 1800 is a really great game by Ubisoft.

I just learned you can create an account to track this! I am always a bit sad to see my progress being lost on cookie refreshes or whatever happens. Will change this as soon as possible. Thanks for highlighting that!

I will probably always recommend the Fairbuds for environmental friendly reasons. https://shop.fairphone.com/fairbuds

It takes quite a lot of time to repeat all the wrong doings of Epic and it's CEO Tim.

Thus, I can only relay to the collected information of bad old Reddit, if you want to (I'm intentionally not linking, you can search it up easily). r/fuckepic has a lot of collected information on their side page.

In short, biggest issue for me exclusivity contracts with games advertised on Steam, then as a bait and switch removed from the store page and their physical copies getting a sticker on top of the Steam logo, so a last minute deal, for Metro Exodus. And then they continued their exclusivity hunt for games, they didn't even helped to develop. Nothing against self-made or published games to be limited time exclusive in my perspective, but not second hand bought (out).

The other about their CEO, r/timcritizisestim He's... a douche. Using kids with the free games to bait them to his store, using them against Apple's store rules like a little army... he is a bad person with too much money and luck to have build the Epic engine with Fortnite...

I am missing an equivalent community to "fuck epic". With all the relevant information of why this service is still not a good idea to follow, even by grabbing their games "for free".

It depends on the content you want to talk about. A general warning won't help to avoid trigger, stress or anxiety. Better to write your text, read over it, put it in spoilers and prepend content notes (CN) about the included points. These can be various traumatizing aspects and you can be really detailed as people have various stress symptoms. Food, harrassment, bullying, sexism, death - everything you talk about you can warn your readers with content notes.

Must be due to the epic prison which they enforce as epic invested in its development (which is in their rights, but I really do not like due to how they achieved this in the long time since their exclusivity buyouts).

That's fair to be annoyed about. I can understand their approach and their tradeoff for a bit of better water-/rain protection and having less components inside. With an USB-C adapter I am using my analog ear buds, even though I switch more and more to bluetooth as I find them more comfortable.

Mediocre headphones, I would not say. They are definitely not top of the line technology wise, but I find them sufficient and sometimes even more than I expected fairly produced hardware to be.

I think a better term would be pay to progress. However, it still is quite close to being pay to win, just not competitively in the direct sense.

Oh my god! I adored Jade Cocoon! I need another dark, exciting, hopeful, sad story driven monster merging game like Jade Cocoon! Alone the catching mechanic with the various music being played to calm the souls of the beasts ... Oh man, I already forgot I need a game like this, now I feel lost again. Unsure of how to fill this void.

This game however seems to use merging more like the fusion games of Yu-Gi-Oh or Persona. In Jade Cocoon I enjoyed the transferring of body parts, shape and colour of each creature. It made it more personal.

Yes, Sona. :)

If you might also care about the socioeconomic manufacturing process and fair payment for these necessary resources, I can recommend the Fairbuds in-ears or Fairbuds XL for over ear.

Both have noise cancelling as an option and an equalizer via app.

Who needs a map?

Better than individual experiences I like to present some reviews, but there doesn't seem to be that many technical reviews in english, at least I did not find them. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/apr/11/fairphone-fairbuds-review-ethically-made-earbuds-with-replaceable-batteries

However, for in-ears, I find them comfortable, but I am more an over ears person. ANC is alright, I'd say. A bit annoying if I am using it on the train and keep hitting the wall or head rest. But either I adapt to these sounds or the hardware takes a bit more time to filter these vibrations out.

For the tradeoff of better sustainability and exchangability if something breaks or the batteries need replacing, I find the price fair.

Jade Cocoon - Story of the Tamamayu

My first jrpg ever on the ps1, monster tamer and merger, with magic spells and elements, various npcs and a really intriguing story and landscapes. I absolutely fell in love with this game and I am still waiting on a spiritual or direct successor like Digimon World got one.

I did so for greenhouse gases reasons. First I stopped with beef, never enjoyed lamb (poor young thing), and several others. Pork pretty much, too, but sometimes I still eat it, same with chicken. Not at home, there are amazing alternatives for sausage and 'meat'. But when eating at restaurants, I have issues eating vegan or vegetarian due to some intolerances. And eggs are still a problem for me. But I buy from a source where male hatchlings are not getting shredded.

Whenever I read this title, I wish for a spiritual successor with modernized graphics and animations as well as the same story depth. It was a damn near perfect game and I adored the merging process of monsters for their spells and optics. More of that, please! I loved the various weapon effects, the taming melodies... such a beautiful game.

I agree. Global warming is one aspect of many of our current climate crisis. And it will become worse when politics won't restrict the reign of fossil fuel industries.

I am so hyped for this title. I really dig its style and theme. Sadly it also has those pre order exclusive rewards, but meh, I can ignore it. 2024.10.11, I'll be ready!

So far I exchanged minced meat by bought alternatives of peas and wheat. With differing textures and formes and I really enjoy them in my meals. I still need to learn to process and cook more with tofu. What I learned already some months ago, you need to press tofu with some weight for half an hour, potentially freeze it to further reduce their water by open pores, and then cook it in some sauce so that it can absorb the taste. Made sense afterwards, but always wondered how they got their taste. Good advice!

I did to some degree. I have some issues with certain fruits and vegetables due to their fructose and alditole composition. So it's not so easy for me, yet, but I made lasagna with alternative minced meat and oat milk, chili 'con' carne with the same minced meat, once with wheat basis, more times with peas. Sushi without fish or meat. But originally and natural vegetarian meals, I guess not really. At least I can't remember right now.

Great advice overall! Thank you! Hopefully others can make some small changes, too. :) Step by step. But completely stopping on recreating meals is really tough, at least for me.

NieR: Automata is pure love, joy, and sadness, mixed with action and philosophically induced emptyness.

And this quote is just the perfect example of how strong it starts.

I seem to have issues trying to convey my intention when I am highlighting why these industries use the term climate change now. I try it once more.

'Climate is changing. It is something that has always happened. It's natural. Climate change is completely normal.' That is the implied meaning, especially by fossil fuel industries, which more than often try to shift the blame away from them by either making it a personal issue (carbon footprint) or describing it as a natural occurance. Intentionally ignoring their influence by burning resources and releasing damaging gases, raising temperatures, melting ice, damaging the saline conveyor belt.

I could recommend you beyerdynamics MMX 300, however the price might be the turning point for you. But getting them in a good B-sale is totally worth it in my opinion.

Edit: You can combine them with an Equalizer Software by downloading the wave file for the MMX 300 and applying it. I forget the name though. Something Something APO? They have a GitHub page if I am not mistaken.
