I’d hate to see the community I helped build be destroyed. However, I will love watching the folks that made it great join the federation! Here’s to us!

It’s instetesting for the subject of Piracy in particular. Participating in obtaining digital goods has most often been a "take it or leave it" standard. You’ve always had to “go where the action is” if not desperately trying to get invited ( Demonoid era).

They will come to their senses when they need there warez as they always do.

My god I wish. But I will say, congrats to Mlem and to Memmy, for pushing out two apollo-esque apps in the spirit of it all

You did the work, this deserves to be higher in the comments

Is June 30th specifically the best time to do this… so they know why? Or should I just do it now?

  1. I am more active here than I was on Reddit (=me).

I might buy pro on all 3: Mlem Memmy and Artemis, just to help skyrocket them on the App Store. Fuck spez

That is a lot of fun right there :)

Remember before 9/11 when you could meet your loved ones at the gate. Remember when TSA hardly existed.

Watch out for Bananakin Skywalker!

I suspected that “Support Lemmy” only supported the project. Judging by another comment, That seems like the best place to put a dollar at this point in time. That way, platform itself can improve and become more robust for all the instances. But it’s good to know that if a smaller instance is doing something I find particularly valuable, I should consider also donating support if it’s an option.

Lastly, I hope admins and members incurring the costs will talk to their communities when they need support. Although most discussions make it seem like those individuals are more than willing to host their servers as their contribution in support of decentralized social networks. I just want to consider all ways community members like myself can support projects like this, so they never feel they need to surrender to outside influences for financial gain. It may not be possible to predict or stop the future, if that were to happen. But if supporting the fediverse from the inside out has clear pathways now, It will be easier.

They certainly will be screwed somehow, at some point. If they give this little warning. I doubt Reddit will disclose changes quick enough for there not to be an eventual case of a huge bill randomly, and many “oh shit” moments for the developer

At this point, I am just telling redditors to come here. Reddit is a famous place to complain so they can stay there and do that, or come to fedi verse to get excited about regrouping

I’d go a step further and say, they only need to convince the pension investing zombies it’s the next hot offering “once in a life time” “ground floor” growth stock. Wall Street will dump this on retail’s head and buy the bag back out at the bid for Pennie’s before they sail it up the mast again on inflated earnings. Rinse and repeat until the name is utterly broken.

Can you multiple account like you can with Lemmy? I’m going back and forth, and I like both so far. I like the dark purple theme in Lemmy

Thanks for the hard work!!

I would most likely do it like the host of your instance too. My experience in nonprofit over the last 15 years is that if you give people a clear path to give to something that provides value for them and a community, you just need a clear path to support. The costs you’ll incur doing something you believe in are accepted, and money received is just a bonus. But without an option no one can help, and they rarely ask “how can I pay for what your giving away” like I did in this post.

I’m not a bot, I used to post on Reddit only occasionally, (I was more of a lurker) and I only accessed it through the Apollo app. I strongly believe in the concept of decentralized platforms, and Apollo made Reddit more user-friendly by streamlining the tools, and reducing the number of ads. I recently joined Lemmy a few days ago and I already feel a surge of energy from enthusiastic migrant users like myself. If I thought my increased involvement here would contribute to meaningful discussions within the community, I will try to be more engaged. I hope that the influx of reddit users, including myself, can provide the boost that Lemmy needed without overwhelming the ‘instances’ themselves.
