And suddenly everyone was born on Jan 1st, 2000

I would like triggered and ptsd back please. Both words have lost their meaning and as a person suffering from cptsd it's infuriating.

So the one remaining way to search the internet that would give me the results I needed is disappearing? Time to head back to the library I guess

That's exactly what it feels like. It's so refreshing and I like the fact I can scroll for about 30 mins, exhaust my feed and step away. I don't get sucked in for most of the day like Reddit.

It's very much a nerd/geek environment at the moment. There isn't much for normies to look at..yet.

Most alcoholics use alcohol to run from difficult, unprocessed emotions. I was one of them.

I was in my early 20s when BG1, BG2, NWN, and Icewind Dale came out. The hype was real, and it was a spectacular time in gaming.

Good luck getting a boomer to setup their own domain. Hell, I'm GenX and I wouldn't know how to.

I left because of how they treated third party apps devs, Reddit mods, and users. Total disregard and disrespect. Which left me feeling the same.

The only reason I found out about Lemmy was through Reddit.

If there's one thing I've learned is that you need money to make money.

I went with Aussie.zone and have been very happy with it so far.

Same. Investigated why there was a blackout, found out Reddit was screwing over RIF in a big way and felt disgusted enough to look for Reddit alternatives. Here we are!

I have been trying to work on my attention span ever since quitting Reddit. There's this great book I'm reading, it has everything in it that I love, I would have been pulled in if this was 20 years ago (yeah, I'm old). But I find I can only handle about 5 minutes or so before I feel that urge for "fresh" information. It sucks!

It's the whole ritual that makes it so special. How about a tea ceremony?

Cooking is one of my favourite hobbies. I can get lost in creating a new dish and playing around with all the ingredients. I sometimes feel like a painter when creating food. It's super relaxing for me.

A toxic relationship where I kept begging for just one more hit. So glad I've found Lemmy.

Exactly! I have a 15 year old Reddit account. Lemmy feels like old Reddit when it was new and fresh. I ain't going anywhere!!

Caves of lore; a pixel (up to 6) party turn based RPG created by a single very active developer. Has shades of Jeff Vogel in it for me. Great little game that not many have heard of.

It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. I just can't look away!

It is if you live in Tasmania

That is just mind blowing!

There is a super active niche subreddit that I miss terribly. There is a Lemmy alternative with 3 subscribers only and a post every 5 days or so. I would love to see it active but me posting there feels the same as just screaming into the void. I know that to grow it I need to be active on it but if I'm the only one there then what is the point? I also don't want to go to the subreddit and say "hey, check out Lemmy" cause it feels I'll be sending them to a graveyard for that particular topic.

It feels fresh, new, and exciting. Like I've discovered a new far-away magical land full of wonders, waiting to be explored.

These days I often just skip the first 2 pages and go straight to page 3 for my search results to be able to find anything slightly resembling what I searched for.

Tickled blew me away!

Interesting. I've never had any Covid symptoms and am from Europe originally.

It made for fascinating reading

I'll keep Gmail for any shit I might want to sign up for and use ProtonMail as my serious email account.

I wonder why it seems to be a different experience for everyone. Must be instance related, no? I mostly saw Linux, memes, technology and politics before blocking them.

For sure. Gen X here. I was in IT during the wild west days (90s) and it was glorious!

Slashdot is still active? Talk about a blast from the past!

I only use Facebook for local community info as I can't get that anywhere else. My fake profile works wonderful for that.

I used my real first name (15 year old account) so I'll be glad to finally use a fictional name

Not a song but I bought the Dawson's Creek Soundtrack CD only for the Shimmer song by Shawn Mullins.

That's how it starts!

I didn't think it would be able to hold my attention; black and white, several decades old, and filmed in a single room..no thanks.

But then I started watching and got sucked in. Before I knew it I was hanging on every word and was completely mesmerised. It's an incredible movie.

I got so hooked on the taste of fresh lemon that I planted 2 lemon trees in my yard. Bring it on!!

Pork floss. It's crazy delicious
