I only played the first hour or so of it as a kid myself. Might be a good opportunity to try it again with fresh eyes!

Accurate, but be careful because once you go 2+ hours outside of Portland, OR you will likely find yourself once again among cognitively challenged folks...

I doubt that will happen, but when I am reading Lemmy threads I usually develop quite a thirst. To combat that, I drink Brawndo the thirst mutilator. It's got electrolytes!

You can, and it's easier than you might think! Check out a platform like Oobabooga and find a nice 4-bit quantized LLM of a flavor you prefer. Check out TheBloke on hugging face, they quantized a ton of great LLMs.

Is there a website or resource that describes this in more detail? First I've ever heard of a cracked .IPA

So the thought is that, sure they may have happily voted for someone found guilty of sexual assault, but felony fraud is the step too far? I'll take it, but I'm constantly amazed at how this is still a competitive race.

Don't forget the "fix" Sony offered after they were initally caught was an even MORE invasive rootkit. 🫠

It could be that anyone with that level of liquid assets available knows that a "loan" will never be paid back - it was PROVEN that the Trump Org engaged in fraudulent activity, so the appeal is just to try to gain some time. Anyone who puts up cash pending the appeal will definitely lose it once the process confirms what the courts have already ruled.

Boeing seems to largely have gone downhill due to a merger which changed the company culture, and chasing profits via stock buy-backs instead of investing in the company operations. It's unclear but unlikely that Airbus is experiencing the same issues.

Joh Oliver did a great segment on it: Last Week Tonight - Boeing

Thank you for collecting all this information in one place, it is appreciated! Does a website or blog exist where this information is posted and updated? If not, there should be.

I spent more time at Reddit then I did in the K-12 education system. I have a lot of good memories and learned a lot from both, but I have no desire to return to either.

Do you have some reason why you think they will be bankrupt and/or split up?

I wouldn't hold my breath for a bankruptcy - Disney has Gross profits of ~30 Billion a year and net profits of ~2-5 Billion a year. Even if their lawyers become completely incompetent and allow them to be sued for max penalties every month of the year, it wouldn't even be a drop in the bucket.

Many people can be selfless and wonderful, true, but the people who are selfish and cruel often work hard to be in positions of power and authority regardless of the system.

Bethesda activy hindered this project by releasing a patch no one asked for like 3 days before the initial planned release date.

I respectfully disagree - it's very easy to contract comment threads you have no interest in (at least on my client if I long-press a comment, it hides the comment and all responses), but I sometimes enjoy reading through an actual discussion two or three people have in a comment chain. They may be few and far between, but that's the nature of an open forum.

ICQ... Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I used to use the crap out of that service, but I can't for the life of me recall what killed it anymore than I can recall migrating from AIM.

Getting to experience improved mental health thanks to having a private quiet place you can think and relax? What a weirdo... (That sounds amazing, I'll take two!)

In this context, I would love to see more audits!

LLMs can also be helpful when your actual feelings should NOT be conveyed. For example, I can have a genuine response to someone along the lines of, "You are dumb for so many reasons, here are just a few of them that show you are out of touch with what our product can do, and frankly with reality itself. {Enumerated list with copious amounts of cursing and belittling}" Ok LLM, rewrite that message using professional office language because I emotionally refuse to.

Mitigate inflation or protect banks from melting down from bond valuations... Looks like we'll be living with inflation a bit longer.

Beautiful take on the Arrogant Worms classic! <3

Well that is concerning...

It always comes down to the money. Reddit uses aren't the customers, they're the product!

I very much enjoyed this game! It's not long, but great for a weekend adventure.

Wow, that video. [Almost dies] "Lol, I'm the main character of my narrative so I'm not going to ever get seriously hurt!"

I agree with everything you've said and reading this comment filled me with joy, but I'm still hungry...

Look at me - I'm the farmer Maggot now!

The ad they put together was fantastic!

The truth is SO MUCH WORSE than that. (Last Week Tonight segment on it) TL:DW - all of the initial payments only go to the insane interest they are already planning to charge you, then when you've paid back the amount of the original loan (all as interest, so not even denting the principal yet), then they jack up the cost even more. Scum.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Meta bought Oculus in 2014 and the Rift S didn't come out until 2019, so you already have a Meta product. I understand if it's more of a branding concern, and I love my Rift S as well, but it's still a Meta headset.

For sure, Ross' Game Dungeon is amazing and one of my favorite things to watch!

Ross Scott posts his content on Accursed Farms for anyone interested!

It's no surprise that anyone with enough intelligence to have the clearance to handle this case wouldn't want anything to do with it. The writing is on the wall (and in the ballroom, in the bathroom, in the poolhouse...)

While that experience likely sucked, imagine how much worse it would have been if your body didn't have a head-start on making antibodies.

Targets: the Dirty Dozen

Yup! Nepotism = getting a job because of who you are related to. Networking = Getting a job because people who know your work give you an advantage.

You can disagree without being rude you absolute muppet.

It sounds like lunch may be paid, but the time isn't mandated. Waiting for a new lot to roll in? Scarf down a sandwich in 7 minutes, get paid for it, and get yer arse back on the line, peasant. You can eat your chips while bolting together widgets. (I have no idea, just a guess.)

Exactly! If you only want to use a Large Language Model (LLM) to run your own local chatbot, then using a quantized version will dramatically improve speed and performance. It also allows consumer hardware to run larger models which would otherwise be prohibitively resource intensive.

Merry solstice!
