Not intuitive UI also big factor, why greeting message don't tell Use #Hello #Привет or other language for first message? People don't understand/know about search being specific to # add to that bombardment with tips... Fediverse is bad for newcomer.

Not for Lemmy precisely, but I said f it and never gone back(excluding random click). Trying to help AK community I was involved past few years. Moderating a bit on kbin AK magazine, but mostly either spend time on Discord where mix of reddit and non reddit sitting. Mastodon for more serious information and interaction with Lemmy, while Misskey for Arknights fanart/art with hopes that some federates to Kbin magazine(lately # not picking up sadly). Waiting for better mod tools, federation fixes.

Still think how to fill Kbin section and as I use Misskey also will be written about... But it's so much feature bloat that I would need wiki for wiki... Half joking.

Without complicating too much when people talk about federation/fediverse, here https://fedidb.org/ which lists services that uses same protocol aka fediverse. So if you don't find niche on your instance, it might be somewhere on other lemmy instance, kbin instance or somewhere on Microblogs/blogs in related #koalas #koala . If you find people with same interests you can create community yourself. It's wild,prototype,unexplored west here. GL.

The only real reddit drama that I personally was invested was r/animemes with Trap ban, so it's easy to ignore chat, follows, cryptocurency, Reddit becoming close sourced, Avatars (I set up one and change it 1 time when free was given and like ehh it's gamer thingy lookalike will use it).
I got my GPDR or how it called request, but didn't login till day 20 and you have 7 days to download and 30 to request link... well I requested link 3 times and still error.

@Drunemeton @DmMacniel Nope, as someone who upload gameplay videos can tell you, you need to verification yourself before they will allow to post links in description. So all links provided by Youtuber are because they are trustworthy or just gone through the verification process. I am lazy to do and my country is not supported for monetization so no deal for me to go through = no outside links in description. You can try it for yourself.

@Blaze @ALostInquirer Yeah documentation is reaaaaaallyyyy lacking. Mastodon you kinda understand if you look enough, but Misskey .... If you don't use feature you won't find any information unless someone wrote a guide which is problem in it self as guides most likely are notes so it won't be easy to find one. @zinklog "History loves repeat itself" With Covid , Wars and even daily life you see this so so many times. On big or little scales but this is a almost mantra to me " History is spiral it always comes back to point x" Sometimes it's scary because you know exactly what happened and what happening now can happen again...

Yeah, like many things were mitigated if you used reddit only on mobile with good app, I even don't remember when I sit behind PC to browse reddit. I do know about crypto vault on official reddit app, that later learned only on crypto subbredits only you can earn crypto.I showed some cat pics from subreddit on official app and scrolling from vid to vid...And there were weird jumps from cat doing funny things only to other subreddit. So ads redirect from one sub to other when watching full screen

@Meowmoth I would say feature bloat. If you need social network message service and want fast loads and less mobile traffic/device resources usage then Mastodon is a king with very tried and true nature. Firefish is fork of Misskey so I can tell a bit as Misskey user. If you want everything in one social service then Misskey/Firefish is the one. Build-in rss reader, memos, gallery, pages, channel for chat like experience, plugins, minigames, likes=emoji that convey message, so... Feature bloat.

Do you know how many use tweeter to mastodon conversion thingy to find old pals and use it as a message board instead you know.... SEARCHING VIA # ? so yeah it can be boring if people don't use # and only advanced users speak and search things. REally look at local feed and not only in eng! Translate it!

@HubertManne @zinklog And that it's fine, we all have a=our own Mantras that we listen too or Superstitions you can also say. What most important that you yourself mentioned, that people used to do something and now they are complacent. If you compare how Japan, Europe and USA handled Covid you can see that something you have to learn and repeat and some things you have to do even if your society is pushing against it. Yeah tell someone to wear a mask when they cough!
