This sounds a lot like a company I've worked at honestly.

Wait what happened?!

It's frustrating because there are a few people I like, like John Green, who are on threads but not the rest of the fediverse

What's wrong with it?

Wait, do people genuinely defend moves like this?

I think their donations are handled by OpenCollective inc. rather than the OCF but I might be wrong

Yeah that's really frustrating

Potentially privacy? Like only you can see your screen. But that's also a downside if you want to show someone something

I was very happy to find when I was getting involved in a project that it was mostly organised/discussed on their forum, it makes it so much nicer and more accessible

And with it's ability to just spit out garbage misinformation with unmatched speed.

What are the advantages of Zig? I've seen lots of people talking about it, but I'm not sure I understand what it supposedly does better.

It's not ready yet, but Wanderer looks like it may end up being a good Strava alternative

Police chief wants excuse to look at illegal material

I imagine it will, as that's sort of the point of the sovereign tech fund, it's meant to fund open source projects so that moves like this can happen.

I might be misremembering, but I think these are called hot corners and can be turned off either in the settings or in gnome tweaks

Can you explain what that means, I'm not sure I understand?

I don't mind them leaving it and running off when I'm in to collect it immediately, but I'd like them to at least ring the doorbell or knock on the door so I know to go grab it.

IIYAMA make DSDs that are 4K, although I know that's not a requirement for OP, so that should be able to replace a TV pretty well

That looks brilliant! Can't wait to follow its progress

Lots of people like to keep their 2FA separate from their password manager, so that there isn't a single point of failure

I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to confirm I have the same issue sometimes with my laptop running fedora.

Retractions are important in case issues with the method are found after publication. For example, if it turns out a piece of equipment was improperly calibrated and so the results can't be trusted, a retraction of any work based on those results would be expected.

This is it: https://github.com/Flomp/wanderer So far it's just a way to host your own trail maps, but hopefully it will expand to have more functionality like tracking your walks/runs.

What is shady about Ghostery?

The open book looks to be the sort of thing you're looking for, it's a very basic open source e reader

If wallabag isn't your jam, then omnivore also works well

Oh wow how have I not heard of this before?! It looks incredible

I'm on an Asus UX410U and he's been going well for 7 years. I'll probably need to replace it this year or next year as the screen is starting to go, but I feel 7 years is pretty good.

Ploopy have given trackball enthusiasts a lot more choice at least!

Is there something wrong with beehaw?

Ah that makes sense

Never heard of planet computers until you mentioned the Cosmo Communicator. Their products look really cool!

Yeah but because Wikipedia articles, to an extent, ephemeral it is good practise to use the sources at the bottom of the article as your source, rather than the Wikipedia article itself. It makes finding the origin of the information easier.

If it is something more permanent like a paper or a published article, then that doesn't suffer from the same issues

I use a Zenbook 14 (an old one though from 2017) and I've not had audio issues on fedora since I made the switch to Linux last year. One thing I do still have issues with is sometimes it fails to sleep/suspend correctly. This isn't a consistent issue though and it seems to be a gamble on if each update will fix it or make it worse. Still not been a big enough issue to make me stop using Linux.

But yeah to answer your question, I've had no audio issues on my Zenbook 14 (other than a slight popping type noise when audio starts playing when I use headphones)

BricsCAD is good, but it costs quite a lot. Otherwise the Ondsel fork of FreeCAD is pretty good.

Oooo I hadn't heard of Niagara launcher before. It looks really beautiful!

Breezy weather looks great, but it isn't available on the Play Store, which unfortunately limits it's adoption
