Thanks to this post, I changed my search engine in Vivaldi to DuckDuckGo, and Edge uses Bing already, and I changed Mull's engine to Ecosia. Phew! Now I feel better.

Google when did you get so crummy?

I'm using Voyager, but giving Boost some attention. We will see which I like better... I didn't like Sync or Jerboa much.

I started Lemmy with Jerboa, switched to Sync, tried Eternity (Infinity), un-installed immediately, and am now very happy using Voyager.

So for me personally, Boost is a little late.

Because Linux is Niche. It doesn't as far as I know come pre installed at the store when you buy a computer. Etc. That's why people still use Windows.

I personally don't find anything wrong with Windows. I use it for work and home and it's fine.

I agree. Long ago, mobile Hotspot just came with my plans. Now it's extra, which is stupid. Just another way for them to make $$

I worked at AT&T when iphones first were a thing. Everything was proprietary (still is) with them, and employees weren't allowed to own phones for the first few years on employee accounts for some unknown reason. When I became a case manager for the executive response team, I finally got to have an iPhone. And... It was boring. I couldn't customize it (granted this was the iPhone 3G in 2008) and it just really didn't excite me. Then I got an Android phone on a whim, and fell in love. All the options!! The things you can do or choose not to do! Amazing! And still to this day whenever I play with an iPhone... It bores me to death.

Yup, I'm on it right now, works great!

Just realized I'd made an unintentional pun there 😁

My gf wanted one because the flips fold down small, but if you ever go on eBay, you'll see the screens are pretty shitty still. Maybe we'll get her one in a few years from now when they've had time to really, truly iron out all the kinks.

I have Sync and Jerboa, and I must say, Sync is polished and smooth and makes it more simple to use. I haven't tried the Infinity for Lemmy but I might test that one out, too.

When I worked at one of the US's major wireless carriers as a manager, I snagged an HTC phone when it was one of the first Android phones. It was small but very cool. I'd been using an iPhone 3G at the time and as soon as I played around with the Android, I knew I had to have it, and never looked back! That was 2009 I think.

Iook I'm not a tech person, I always thought 1 gig was 1024 megabytes?

What is a GiB? I've seen it but always wondered.

Those were so awesome! How come they don't make hyoercolor shirts anymore?? I'd buy them.

Customization. That's my #1 reason I love Android.

Oh for Pete's sakes. Art is art.

Like me! My very first cellphone was a Sony Ericcson. It was a GSM bar phone, in 2004. Got it free with the AT&T employee plan. It saved me once. I was in a car wreck on the freeway and my gf was using AOL (ha) on the only phone line at my house so I used my tiny Sony Ericsson to contact a co worker friend on msn messenger (this is seriously making me sound old) and told her to IM my gf to get off the computer/phone so I could call about my car accident and get help. It wasn't a smartphone, either, but it did the trick there.

Then I got one of those Sony Walkman phones a year later, it was excellent for music.

They're usually just called parties now

I liked Spark, and right now I use E-mail by Edison. Clunky name, but good solid email app. Nice UI, multiple accounts.

You're lucky then. I'm at 75% full on internal storage (128g) and 86% full on SD card (64g) on my Motorola phone.

A lot of that is apps, yes but the majority is music and photos.

None of them look suspicious.. I just never watch YouTube. Unless it's on my TV, I should say. Or unless I'm trying to fix the toilet, in which case I like the tutorials on how to fix things like that... I just can't be bothered. I'd rather read the info. Call me a crazy GenX-er...

I have a Motorola, and I like it a lot.

I'm in the US and my thought is that it's easier to use sms because not everyone uses Signal, not everyone uses Telegram, and those types. If they did... One person would prefer Snapchat, the other would prefer Signal.. Too many choices. With SMS, it's just your phone number, and everyone has a phone number.

Otherwise you gotta get usernames for different people for different apps.. It's too complicated.

I'm using Motorola One 5G. I'm pretty happy with it.. It's great for a midrange. Worst quality it has is that due to having it 76% full, it's a little laggy and slow when switching apps. I had a lot of phones previously, the best one was an LG G3 in 2015. I usually upgrade every 3 or 4 years. I have a android tablet but I don't use it much. I don't have any apple products. I hate apple.

14?! Damn, I still have Android 11, on this only 3-year-old phone. Slow down, Android.

I, too, am using the Motorola One 5G, and really aside from updates, I have no complaints, except the phone trips out once in a while or has weird screen glitches on occasion. Great phone though. Hoping to upgrade to one of the Edge series soon.

How are you liking Beeper? I'm on the wait list.

That's so strange! Here in the US lots of people still use sms, and it's free/included unlimited in all the plans. I have heard previously other countries like in Asia and stuff, don't really use sms either though, so that's interesting to me...

Wow it's your first time using Midjourney? That's pretty good!

Beautiful. 👏

That's one of the reasons why I love Midjourney lol... Sometimes it's nothing near what you wanted but it turns out great anyway!

I use @phonescoop.com or gsmarena to compare specs and read reviews.

Yuck why do people continue to buy Apple products?

I don't watch YouTube videos or click on those type of links, so I don't know what you posted, but no Windows doesn't bother me. It's just normal to use it.

And cool if Linux is installed now on laptops at Best Buy, didn't know that. But not many still, I'm sure.

I hate Gboard. So I use SwiftKey which is the best one.

I don't even understand what Android Auto is.

The family car is a 99 Toyota rav 4. We stick a cassette in the player with a cord attached, and plug that in to the phone for music lol

You could hold an icon contest.
