Recently I was looking for info (in finnish) how to prevent car windows from fogging. I found a really weird website all about car windows, but it kept confusing car and house windows. It instructed to clean car windows by "opening the window and cleaning between the panels".

It was obviously ai-generated, but I couldn't figure out why. They weren't selling anything, there were no ads and no links to other websites or services.

Edit: I found the site again, I cannot spot anything nefarious, but proceed with caution: https://www.lasinvaihto.fi/

How do I do with a detached head?

"How to enter subspace" "How to bind subs"

Tiny nitpick, 23 qr-codes are needed as one can contain 2,953 bytes and c64 has 65,536 bytes of ram. 65536/2953=22.19

Can you get companies to install solar panels? Few of us can, but (almost) anyone can go vegan. And even if you can influence corporations to reduce emissions, you can still go vegan! It's not either/or

Have you tried it? At least for me, I often get better results compared to google. Also Kagi has a free trial of 100 searches.

Granted I'm a developer, so my job is basically just searching for information, so getting better results is really valuable for me.

That's good, stealing is wrong

That sounds horrible! How could a machine like that have been high-end in last 15 years? Unless it's a chromebook. Seriously, is that a typo that it has a 40 gb drive? If not, I'm amazed it can even boot to windows.

I'm so glad my current company is not like this; Couple months ago my coworked started to have issues with running out of ram (16 gb), and noticed that there was an amazing deal on some thinkpads: P14s gen 2, 32 gb ram, 4K, Ryzen 5 pro: 970€ without vat. And now almost everyone in the company has a new laptop! Granted the company is small, 13 employees, making thanigs like this easier.

Oh that makes so much sense. I was wondering why single-click would ever be default.

The posts are from march 2023, and there are no ads yet :/

How is that misleading, isn't it true?

Give kagi a try, if you haven't yet.

It is just easier, and having a simple ui of different podcasts and their episodes along with their progress is a nice QOL -feature. You can probably get the sam, result with a media-player and some tinkering, but is not as easy.

Granted, I see no reason to pay for a podcast app (other to support creators), as free open-source options such as AntennaPod exist.

Unfortunately you need to (at least in my experience) purge the feed couple times a year. Just use "not interested" with a heavy hand and a light heart. It tends to recommend new stuff after that.

Yeah, the secret is to debloat it all the way to 7. Going under that is not advisable expect under doctors supervision.

How about pixel?

Probably, since every other post is about search engines, and many of us have been cursing the ever-worsening search results from google, with no real alternative (that actually provides better results than google).

Now that there is finally an ad-free product that performs like Google did 5-10 years ago, of course, I want others to have the same experience and not get frustrated when they can't find the information they're seeking.

My partners phone is rooted, and all their banking apps work by using just Magisk to hide root status. They have been running Xiaomi eu for couple years now.

It is much easier, os long as that version is in main repo. If not, it can still be easy (run this one extra command), or you are gonna pull your hair out trying to figure out how to install some antique proprietary software on fedora, using an installing guide made for Ubuntu 16.04. :)

Fortunately VMs are fast to set-up.

I can get tinnitus if I have too much ear-wax and I have to remove it periodically, since it wont come out on its own.

Fortunately you can use magisk to hide the rooted status from most apps. At least in Finland, I have had no problems with Nordea or Danske Bank. I remember that some app was troublesome, but I think I figured that one out also eventually.

It's interesting to meet someone else who also struggles with an overuse of parentheses and ellipses (I didn't know what they were called, thanks for that!).

This is a complete shot in the dark, but do you also happen to be on the spectrum? (I have nothing to base this on expect my theory that overclarification could be more common among neurodivergent people)

Edit: ellipsis -> ellipses

I suggest going straight to https://kagi.com, or you can also use your current search engine to find it using query "kagi".

But to be serious, it's great. The search results themselves feel like how google used to feel years ago before the enshittification, and there are many useful features, like changing priority of different websites. I for example have removed all pinterest sites, reduced instagram and increased wikipedia weighting. They have a free 200 search trial, give it a go!

DELETED

That would make sence, also the domain is really good (lasinvaihto.fi, translates to windscreenreplacement.fi). Maybe they are planning to sell the domain?

I go through the alphabets and try to come up with a words that starts with each letter, that fits in a specific category. Atm I'm working on fruits, so Apple, Banana, Coconut etc.

Naah, we jboth ust want a eye comfort mode THAT ACTUALLY REMOVES ALL OF THE BLUE LIGHT! WHAT IS THE POINT OF "eye comfort" THAT MAKES THE SCREEN SLIGHTLY ORANGE TINTED ON A DEVICE THAT IS GENERALLY USED JUST BEFORE BED??! Just let me make my screen devoid of all blue colours if I so want, EVEN FUCKING WINDOWS CAN DO IT OUT OF THE BOX!

Rant over, sorry

Thanks, I was wondering whether this could be achieved using lenses

Another option is adding canned chickpeas, they work with almost any ramen

Give kagi a shot, it has worked great for me

Do you know whether salting the water heavily affects the water absorption rate of cut potatoes? It should reduce it on cell level, but I don't know if that is the case with starch

3 more...

Oh it hadn't occured to me that not only salt causes osmosis. Thank you for the explanation!

Seems like I'm going to boil the potatoes whole in the future, thanks again :)

With English, finding the motivation is easy, since pretty much all media, be it movies or games, is in English. I learned the basics in school, but most of my vocabulary is from games.

I have been thinking of learning fourth language, but it's hard to find a good enough reason for it. Maybe I should just change games to appropriate language? At least it would improve replayability, since 90% of the plot would be missed.

My partner sets two alarms, one an hour earlier when they take the adhd medicine and go back to sleep. It has sped up their bed -> outside time significantly.

Sounds like it's prime time for a SQL-injection

Yeah you can't really "infer" where a letter is, it just takes time to learn the loiations by heart. I think I have used this for 6 months or so, and I'm able to write 40wpm without looking at the keyboard. But damn was it slow in beginning

Here in Finland the standard seems to be 8-16, with 30 min lunch, for a total of 37,5h work per week

Oh shame. But thanks a lot, you have saved me a ton of headache

Isn't the osmosis minimized when the salt concentration of the water matches that of the potatoes, and thus it shouldn't affect the saltiness of the end product? Assuming that the water is thrown away of course.

No problem! Make sure to test the universal summarizer also, it has been extremely useful for skimming scientific papers and documentations (you can also select "discuss further" to ask specific questions about the material).

I also felt that the price is too much, until I started to actually think how much I use and rely on search engines in my life, and suddenly the cost doesn't seem all that high. Granted I'm fortunate enough to live in a high-income country.
