I am not a fan of at best non-descriptive, at worst clickbait titles with one-sentence post bodies.

This is the new "Is $DATETIME_NOW.year the Year of the linux desktop?".

How is this relevant to Linux? FF release notes get posted here, as FF is the de facto standard browser on Linux distros. Vivaldi isn't.

I do not want to judge on Vivaldi, I am merely questioning its relevancy to the community here.

I am aware of that possibility, but a truly FOSS MOBA would be amazing. Custom balancing on different servers, different queues, etc.

I am sceptical. The paradox of 'DoNotTrack' is, that this setting is used to track you; it gets ignored and, as most users do not have it enabled, makes you more unique.

Someone said, that this new setting is legally enforcable in California. We shall see how it applies to the rest of the world.

GPT-4, prompt: "List 10 words that start and end with the same letter but are not palindromes."

Even without the palindrome condition, it got some of these and a few palindromes.

FYI Kagi has an integrated Blocker/Upranker/Downranker similar to this. Under their stats page you can see, which domains have been blockes/raised/... the most.

The most hated one by far: Pinterest and all locale-specific sub-domains.

To be fair, at this point it is LaTeX or raw txt.

Valid question. Im short: They will stop working.

You are getting downvoted for the question because most people here think that you shouldn't use them. And they might be right.

I know that MIT is no Copyleft license, but is that really a problem?

Cool idea! THis should be more broadly discussed. After some discussion here, where could we share it with the F-Droid community? Is there a forum or such?

My five cents: The problem I see is account stuff. You can use F-Droid without an account, and do not want to require an account for ratings. Yet, having no accounts, it is incredibly easy to manipulate votings.

I would probably prefer a "Git Issue"-like thread for every app, where you have to register. This allows for

  • Deeper conversation, more insightful reviews, instead of "3 starts, UI ugly" (let's face it, this is not the reason why we use F-Droid)
  • Pointing out code lines in the source code. This could help with bug fixes, malicious stuff, etc.

What about OpenBoard? It is maintained and a great keyboard

NVM, it is not maintained, but there is a very active fork: https://github.com/Helium314/openboard

Great read, thanks for sharing this!

Well, I do realize it every day 😶

I agree. If it were a bit more compact, I'd like it more.

Unrelated to the entire discussion on cars: This is important! What you just did is so so important. I WANT to believe that EVs are great, and they probably are, but the study seems somewhat lackluster. An someone needa to point it out, regardless of their own opinion.

While it can be somewhat cynical to play out environmental vs social issues, I agree with the scepticism here.

Obviously that wasn't my point. I just stumbled over the wording.

But Android has far more users than FF.

I do understand your scepticism towards companies; the reason for my question was that I got the impression from your first comment that you don't like/install MIT code and was just confused as to why someone might dislike that.

Are you shocked about the play or her response? Tbh I think it is a great opportunity to discuss Climate Change, demographic change, human rights,... at school.

But be warned, this doesn’t work for everything: it seems that spending wildly on a wedding ceremony or engagement ring doesn’t have a “sunk cost” effect – it fails to increase the likelihood of staying married.

Unironically thank you for licensing your comments! :)

Thank you for the reply! I did not want to be mean, rather explain why many people would downvote this post. Welcome to Lemmy!

No, but some.

Indeed. Oftentimes they kinda resolve their cognitive dissonance by saying 'Ah, you got a fiance, you have to say that wink'. As if there is no other logical explanation.

I'll say what Linus would say: You shouldn't trust me, even if I say that I'm THE LORD HIMSELF LINUS TORVALDS.

(Just letting you two know that this is exactly the kind of mindset I was looking for on Lemmy. Unfortunately, people bring their Reddit habits with them here.)

No matter how you extract the code, this will be hacky. The problem with this approach is that you are entirely dependent on the YouTube backend. They will not notify you when they change their code/API. They will not comment their code.

In the past, this has led to a considerable development investment of projects like NewPipe where they have to fix somethong every few months as there is a backend change.

I am still thinking about your problem, but I am unsure whether the approach of extracting from JS works (mid term).

Why not do the steps you outlined above as a macro on your keyboard? This eliminates the need for JS. To extract the video URL, you could use some RegEx automatically or Ctrl+F. Just some thoughts. I am still invested into this weird request :)

Also exposure to the country. Just driving through it (or sitting in an all-exclusive resort for that matter) is not what I consider travelling/exploring.

a) Your license footer is really cool! I will start including it as well.

b) Aren't quotes a bit problematic, as you include them in your work? This one is probably fine, as you (quite artistically) paraphrased it but direct quotes would be a problem, right?

Wait, does FF on Android only support Manifest v3 extensions?

"only has permissions for necessary domains"
