Ask me about kumquats.

If my 3D printer has a problem, it's not working properly.

When my 2D printer throws a fit, it's because it's doing its job of being a vicious piece of shit perfectly.

Important difference.

Stallman is like the friend you'll never introduce to your family.

How can it be that people don't realize how badly faked this is and what position it is trying to sneak through?

"Ugh, why doesn't this look more complicated?"

Edit: This was in response to someone commenting "Why does it look like toddler UI?". The comment seems to be deleted now.

I fairly often drive 50,000m/h, except on the autobahn. There I usually go about 120,000,000mm/h.

And if I stack 1000 1cm³ blocks of water, the resulting 10m high column has a volume of 1l, weighs 1kg and exerts 100kPa of pressure on its base. And to heat it by 1°C requires 1kcal, while 1N would accelerate it by 1m/s every second.

What I want to say is: Your point is stupid and your units are too.

"What's up with the wax by the slow cooker?"

"Well, I've read about 10 papers on high performance cycling and have concluded, that hot waxing my chain may save about half a watt."

"When did you last ride it?"

"Also a good question, indeed."

I don't get why you get so much downvotes, because it's not as obvious as people make it out to be and there are plenty of adapters. So it's a good question.

But yes. The 3.5mm jack had the thing companies say they are striving for: simplicity.

DACs are nice and everything but the phone can just decide to not connect properly. The DAC can decide it had enough of your phone. In either case you'd need to reconnect them. And that means unlocking your phone, because a secure phone will block streaming to 'unknown' USB-C devices, unless it's unlocked during the negotiation phase. And if your connectors have become wonky for whatever reason: Well, no music for you.

And then there's the issue where you have to have them at hand when you need them. In your car, on your person, while at work.

3.5mm is great because it actually "just works". One of the few things that can claim such thing.

The innovation of DRM and Intels SGX extention is the reason no current-gen PC can play 4K Blurays in 4K.

As a German, I feel like, we should be capable of seeing 10th of thousands of people die, including reporters, aid workers and literal children, and fathom that this… is bad.

Hello, I'm your boss. Saw you on your phone during your break in the video feed.

You've been asking for a raise for years. Unfortunately, you're a really good performer, always on time, good worker, and I've never heard anything negative that I could base my decision to deny your raise on. So I watched the video feed to find the most minuscule thing that I can pinpoint as a "problem". I was about to tell you that drinking water on the job significantly decreases your performance, but that post you made on your break is now going to be my reason. Screw you. I love money!

Sincerely, your favorite boss

Who's "they"?

If it's Urologists, like, those are the experts. If it's someone on Twitter, they don't matter. If it's women as a whole… oh, boy. Dude. If it's "the jews", OH. BOY. DUDE. HOW EVEN?

Fair point, will do… at some point in the future.

Edit #1: You people are expecting way too much reasonability from someone using emojis to login.

Edit #2: Urgh! FINE. Have your sensible title that actually means something and betters everyones experience. angrily sips water >:(

I don't think anyone takes this seriously. It's just fun to come up with the worst password policies.

Just imagine the error: "Sorry, your password could not be set. If you decide to include more than one animal, make sure they get along or include a zookeeper as well."

Fucking brilliant.

Only data that is not stored cannot fall victim to attackers. It does not matter whether it is a 'nigerian prince', Microsoft or some agency. Even if you completly trust whatever entity with your data right now, they may become problematic in the future.

This is why a low profile is a crucial component of OPsec.

Recall is objectively stupid, even if Microsoft only had their users best interest in mind. And they don't.

I mean that someone saw hostile architecture and then decided to photoshop a trans flag over it for political reasons.

We, as strangers, will never know their exact motivation, but I think if their idea was a message regarding the unfair treatment of economically disadvantaged people or neoliberal hypocrisy, there would be much better ways to communicate the issue, that don't involve something that can easily be construed as anti-trans messaging.

It's a bit vibes based, but you know.... people ain't robots, and even if that wasn't the original intent, that's how the message comes across. And I'd rather have a better, more poignant statement that's worth repeating, rather than this, perhaps unintentionally, bad one.

Especially because people will take this at face value and there are more photoshopped images just like this, making the whole thing a bit sussy, imo.

My "favorite neoliberal"?

I'm an entire person, not a single-sided strawman. I edited my reply to also state that I think neolibs suck too, if that helps to unflatten my thoughts on this a bit. And because I think they do.

I'd also like to add that I've seen this image and others like it posted in anti-progressive groups by anti-progressive people, instilling exactly the message I explained earlier. Which is why I say the message either isn't clear, or just bad.

I don't feel like I'm "gasping at straws". I feel my argument is somewhat reasonable and I hope my point is a little clearer now.

I have to go back to work now.

That'd be my interpretation aswell.

This image is so old I had it on my mp3 player, when I was a kid. (Don't ask why, we'll both just cringe) He just has very thick legs, so he can do all the cool parkouring, I imagined him doing, while sitting in the backseat of my parents car, listening to Nightwish and Subway To Sally.

…man, this post is bringing back some memories.

Thanks, you too!

I'd love to say something sensible, understandable and concise.

But this post is like someone shouting "WHY DID MATHEMATICIANS MAKE THE √ SYMBOL TICK SHAPED?!", convinced they've found a way to prove that 2+2 is not 4.

There is so much to unpack there. Properly responding to every explicit and implicit grain is like reasoning against a beach.

I honestly don't understand how someone can take this or OP's post as a serious statement. I feel like both are extremely obvious jokes.

It's like a line I like to say: "I'm the smartest, prettiest, most humble person in the world." No one has ever taken that seriously, and for good reason. It's not meant to be.

Can you spot why years, months, days, hours and minutes are not SI units?

This is an honest question. The SI units were chosen very carefully with regard to their human usability and scientific universality.
