Your consumer can query the API on its own, and download 5 subtitles per IP's per 24 hours, but a user must be authenticated to download more. Users will then be able to download as many subtitles as their ranks allows, from 10 as simple signed up user, to 1000 for VIP user.

I think it's reasonable move. They have Legacy API that cost them a lot of manhours to maitain and they decided to cut on costs and replace it with a new thing. Sadly they decresed amount of api calls from 20 to 5 [needs citation]

I would say just subscribe to stuff you like and don't doom scroll for hours. A 15 min session is all you need to catch up for a day in your interests. Also make some posts in stuff you like and care about.

There are two additional queens from nowhere, while no kings are present. That wasn't in any move.

there is proposal for three types of tags: NSFW, spoiler and generic. NSFW and spoiler will blur the images, and generic tags are for content categorization. NSFW and spoiler tags should have the same behavior on lemmy. kbin dev will want to make parity change for his feature.

I think this question is a XY problem. You want to learn a language and not build an app for learning languages. To learn a language you just need motivation and resolve to stick with it for long periods of time. Just grab a text book, some video courses and flashcards.

Flying in Outer Wilds is like kerbal space program without manouver nodes or orbit prediction. It's doable if you understand orbital mechanics.

The most scary thing I think is to optimize the reward is not to recommend a good video but to reprogram a human to watch as much as possible
