I don't think water touches water because it's all water.

Otherwise you touching a person would make you two people, because the skin is touching skin.

You can take the ducks you know

No one ever tells you this, but you can just take the ducks. Just like with the city pigeons. Just make sure you don't take a government drone by accident.

Well, my parents grew up in poverty. And based off what they've said, 380$ net worth sounds too high, unless it's an average. At least back then (even adjusted for inflation btw).

People really don't understand how poor true poverty is, and why things from poor countries are so much cheaper. I have literally seen families that subsisted off of dump sites.

Also, children usually have 0 net worth for obvious reasons, so if we include children that stat is ready to reach. Especially since children are counted in the world population after all.

What country are you in and which one are you moving to? I ask this because computer part prices can vary a lot based on country.

I mean ageing technology (what the person might look like after 5 years etc) was also created for human trafficking victims, and I haven't seen it really being talked about in many years now since it came out. Seems weird to base something on whether or not you've heard of it.

If the family doesn't have a recent picture of the person without makeup, then yeah, this would be useful, since people can look pretty different without makeup. I'm the only one who has recent pictures of my wife without makeup for example, her friends and parents only have pictures of her with makeup since she normally does some when meeting them. She's also half Chinese, so depending on how she decides to do her make up, can look way more asian or barely asian at all. If I didn't have those pictures and something happened, the make-up pictures wouldn't be as useful in searching for her.

Didn't know these customized windows os's were still a thing. I thought they did out in the windows 7 age

But like back then, how do we know these are safe and don't have some kind of password stealing malware? Excluding Defender specifically makes it a bit sus

I think reputation is better than the virus total scan, since it wouldn't catch malware broken up in different parts that are integrated into the OS.

I will definitely keep this in mind. Have you had any issues with the OS not having Edge? I thought it wasn't easily possible without causing some issues.

My bad, you're right. I thought it also excluded the software that made automatic onedrive support possible but apparently not.

Recently I've found Fedora based distros better than debian (like Ubuntu) based ones, especially on "newer" hardware (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Hezio/saved/#view=TwZfpg)

For gaming Bazzite literally installs everything you need for you except Proton GE, although Steam's regular Proton isn't bad either for most games.

Sounds like y'all should form a country wide DNS guild, and instead of looking for jobs, just ask band together, and then when the DNS eventually fails, they have no choice but to hire from the guild and pay 5 years salary at once to have it fixed. Then understand if getting hired and fired constantly, you just do a job every now and then and get a huge pay check. So contractor work, but you get to see the companies constantly burn themselves and give y'all with instead.

If anyone needs help moving to the EU (and in particular Finland) let me know. I moved to Finland after 2016 (I saw the writing on the wall for awhile, before Trump - it's just that's when I finally had the best opportunity and Trump accelerated the need to move).

It takes less money to move than you might think to move. If you have a specialty (especially in STEM) it's really easy, and most jobs will even provide language classes for free.

If you don't, it's still possible, but it'll be much harder work I'll admit. You may end up as a janitor or laborer, but know this - you'll still be able to live comfortably. Wages can be much fairer here, public transportation is excellent to the point where you don't need a car at all, and you won't be bankrupted by healthcare. Even a low skilled SINGLE job will afford you financial security - something I remember was not the case in the USA.

And on the bright side, if you want to go to higher education here, university is a lot cheaper or, if you live long enough in a place to become a permanent resident or citizen, free.

If you get yourself at least 8k and 3 months of intensive Duolingo and maybe Mondly, you have a chance to move.

I'd like to note it's not profitable because it generates so much energy so consistently that it's hard to keep prices up.

That's why nuclear energy should never have been a private sector investment but a government one, or maybe hybrid. That's how it's worked in Finland, and the new reactor we had built plus the growing solar really saved us from the electricity spike after Russian gas was turned off.

You do realize that slippery slope argument is what's used when it comes to banning anything else, right?

"Can't legalize marijuana or people will start wanting to do meth" for example.

Haven't really seen it mentioned here, but for those who don't know, the male chicks are not used for chicken nuggets, but primarily for pet food or plant fertilizer. Also not every country does this practice. Not only that, but eliminating eggs from the human global diet would be unfeasible. This is because eggs are the best source of protein, with only whey protein coming second. They are also the only food with such a high protein content that also contains all essential nutrients. And before someone posts "but da beans!" - no, they're not on the same level. Although beans are a good source of protein, they're neither complete nor are they actually as high as they seem, because the protein they have isn't as bioavailable as that of eggs (speaking of, this is why there's certain practices in vegan diets to gain more nutrients, such as eating leafy greens with an acid to get more iron or soaking pecans to remove the pyric acid in them to absorb the minerals they have better).

Removing eggs from the world diet would actually lead to more ecological harm, even without more ethical chicken rearing practices becoming wider spread, because the amount of farm land needed to ensure proper nutrition for everyone with a mixed vegetable diet would be significantly higher than ensuring there's just enough eggs for everyone.

You don't like baby chicks getting ground up? Don't own carnivorous pets, and buy from more ethical egg farmers. Or if you can, honestly just get your own chicken or 2. You'll have enough eggs with even a single chicken to be honest. Hens don't need much space, males can be eaten once their 4am crowing drives you crazy - although they do keep the hens happy. If you can afford it or don't have very particular diet restrictions, go vegan - you probably don't need as much protein as you think. I used to be vegan until kidney failure, and now with a transplant am back to mostly vegetarian (at least for now until I can go back to being fully vegan). I also used to raise animals for food and farm because I came from a poor family initially. If you don't care, then just consider eating less meat and eggs will ya? Too much ain't good for your health either. Plus it'll taste better if you don't eat it every day. A weekend bbq is way more special when you haven't had meat the prior everyday.

Weird how y'all haven't figured it out yet considering Finland has and Germany has had nuclear power plants for longer.

But I suspect it's more of a lack of wanting to do what's needed for storage because 'politics' and boomers than it is because it's not possible.

Considering no one I've met so far that I've told "a grizzly bear can bend steel bars" knows that - no, most people don't know much about bears, or how dangerous a bear is. Heck most don't know how fast a bear can run or swim. Heck there's people who constantly get injured or killed because they want to pet a wild bear.

This doesn't negate point A that you made, but the other huge factor is, most women, men, and everything in between don't really know much about bears, or have been exposed to bears, and that's a gigantic reason why so many women picked the bear too. Heck, your point B proves that - you clearly don't understand the threat, or you'd know that it's not a threat, it's a death sentence. You are not, in virtually any scenario of being stuck on an island with a ever growingly hungry bear, going to live. You can't swim away, you can't climb a tree to escape. You'd have a much better chance of killing an openly hostile man than surviving a wild bear. You basically just said "yeah, I know how missiles work, they fly in the air and go boom when they land - that's why I can survive a missile".

And the question was designed to create this divide, because had this question instead been with something that IS perceived as more dangerous (like, would you rather be stuck in the middle of a large pool with a shark of a man), it wouldn't have received the same amount of replies, since sharks are seen and portrayed as scarier than bears. It wasn't designed to actually improve society, it was designed to drive another wedge and make us forget that the real danger is the wealthy and corporations that literally kill and poison us daily.

Roe v Wade being overturned was not "more of the same"

That's because they kill in different ways. Cats are more like Rogues - you get a scratch one day and then later you're dying a slow painful death of Cat Scratch Fever, or silently end your pregnancy with Toxoplasmosis.

Dogs on the other hand are more like Barbarians, they just brute force your death in person as fast as they can.

Edit: Parrots are Bards. That is all I will say.

Well you are in a shitty situation.

I know there's the joke that Finland doesn't exist, but didn't know people like you who took it seriously.

From 2019. Yes, we've figured out how to store it permanently. The country of 5 million somehow figured out what the hundreds of millions in Germany, USA, and others couldn't.

Or more accurately, actually did it. The solution has been known for awhile.

Also, never said a private company had to do anything - that's just a strawman you brought up.

Yeah, and like most of Europe, that German population lives in cities, not random forests and mountains in the middle of nowhere where you could also do underground storage like Finland has done.

Not to mention Germany has more land.

That combined with what you mentioned about cannabis triggering your headache sounds like the issue might be your trigeminal nerve (my guess mylohyoid) or similar nerve branch in the neck area. Sleeping likely causes it because there's constant pressure on it at night as you sleep.

An orthopedic pillow might help, something such as this for example: https://www.amazon.com/Osteo-Cervical-Odorless-Adjustable-Orthopedic/dp/B09964WTF5?th=1&psc=1

Alternative hypothesis would be it's blood pressure related, perhaps orthostatic hypotension or fluctuating hypertension - you can test this by getting a good blood pressure machine and checking in the morning before you get up from bed without moving much, immediately after sitting up, immediately after standing, and then stay standing still for 1 minute and take again.

Probably don't need the coffee by the way considering the medicine you take (Ritalin)
