I'm confused too, self checkout is the best thing ever, no social interaction and pretty much equally fast, while allowing for more checkouts in the same amt of space. Though tbf only if done properly. One store here started having them like 10 years ago and there was like a 10% chance each item that you'd have to call over an employee bc the scale didn't work. Haven't had any problems with the ones i encountered recently.

40 was stupidly high and rare and now it's still stupidly high but less rare and people very much still complain about it, 30 wasn't super rare my entire life and i still complain about anything over 25 lol.

Local weather doesn't mean much anyway, hottest 2 weeks on earth and where I live has been mostly pretty chill with 2 days that were actually hot (and those still only went to like 31). Pretty much the way i remember summer commonly being a while ago.

And just to be clear i am in no way trying to pretend climate change isn't real, it's real and we're all royally fucked, but 30° really isn't anything new and also saying "it was 40 degrees for a week" on its own doesn't really say more than "global warming can't be real it was -10 last week".

Calling it global warming isn't stupid, the globe is warming. It doesn't mean "everywhere is warming" but "the global average is warming".

This will also vary based on the individual, and there's probably at least one transperson out there that doesn't care. But for those that do, I'd think it comes down to it being one more aspect where they're put into a box they really don't feel like they belong in. Something that on its own would likely not be a big deal, but if you're already trying to 1) get away from everything your birth sex has confined you to and 2) try to feel as close to your actual gender as possible in every day life, it can make a difference.

It's not actually "no tools", it's "no specialized or proprietary tools unless provided for free by the manufacturer".

I think as long as there aren't many posts anyway, it doesn't really matter. Once there are, it's unlikely the not open ended questions would get much traction. You have a few options, one is sharpkeys as people mentioned, alternatively there's also the microsoft keyboard layout creator that lets you make a custom keyboard layout where the two are swapped.

If you only want to activate it temporarily, you could also use autohotkey to define a hotkey that makes you type a colon instead of a semicolon and vice versa until you switch it off.

My issue with hot weather is that around 25°C i run out of layers to remove to stay comfortable, and I can't even get to that point if I'm anywhere outside my own home because running around naked in public is sadly not socially acceptable. So when temps reach 35 outdoors I just feel like dying as even indoors tends to heat up to >30 if the temps stay for a few days.

So I didn't quite try it to switch, rather installed linux to dualboot specifically because one game had lag issues on windows, and ultimately there are just 2 things keeping me from making linux the main and windows the backup.

One is game compatibility, while linux has come a long way it's simply more convenient to be on windows which can effectively run everything (even if there are a few more performance issues at times).

The other is that I couldn't find a DE of which I liked the look that could handle high refresh rate monitors properly. LXDE works for my purpose and I think it looks ok, but by design it just doesn't feel as nice to use as windows.

Hated gnomes UX, liked KDE but it couldn't handle my monitor. Wouldn't wanna bother with trying many more options unless I actually know it will work with my hardware.

I have tried like 5 different vegan meat things now and they ranged from bad (the times they involved cheese, my god vegan cheese sucks) to "ok, but would rather just eat something that is vegan without trying to be fake meat."

The Muv-Luv trilogy, or rather Muv-Luv Alternative in particular. I just went into hermit mode for the full 60 or so hours it took me to read/play all of it.

It still has its flaws of course but the worldbuilding and character interactions with such a dark and conpelling but not edgy story are something that nothing else has matched for me.

If we're talking about gender as a social concept in society, a woman is "a person the majority perceives as a woman"

If we're talking about one's identity, a woman is simply "someone who perceives themselves as a woman"

If we're talking about genetics, a woman is a person with 2 x chromosomes, if we're talking about primary sex characteristics, a woman is a persob with a vagina (or do we wanna limit it to having had one from birth? Both yes and no answers might be relevant depending on the context), etc.

You should be able to turn off the swipe inputs for the kb entirely, at least i could on mine (the accidental activation was annoying me too). You can probably find it searching for swipe in the settings.

Having multicommunities (either the option to automatically combine all communities with the same name across federated instances into one feed, or some sort of manual linking from the mod side where a community gets combined outward facing while still being hosted across servers with seperate mods) has already been brought up and would be a very good feature to mitigate this issue too. It's not something that has to stay impossible forever.

Honestly I would argue it doesn't matter in either case.

If it is about possession, there just isn't enough of a negative effect from allowing someone to look at that stuff for another month or so to justify serious infringement on rights without a conviction. The abuse has happened, and a single individual looking at it some more won't affect things much. And after an actual conviction they'll just be in prison, or after release you would have a justification to monitor at least their own internet traffic.

If it's about production, the internet traffic isn't likely to be the problem. Someone sexually abusing children isn't likely to stop just because they can't put it on the internet anymore. At that point you'd rather need to keep them away from children in the first place.

I actually do give them some money as there is a band I really like and due to shipping costs/import tax yt channel membership is the most viable way I have to support them, so while it's less than yt premium, I'm still not completely leeching off the platform.

basically, all of this. My issue was that no matter what I tried, said game was clearly displayed at 60hz on my 240hz monitor (very fast movement so it's extremely obvious, and it looked identical to if i set the monitor to 60hz in windows). Tried a few things but couldn't get it to work.

G2A isn't more fraudulent than other marketplaces, if someones selling a game for less than any official retailer it's likely to involve fraud. G2A and Kinguin are just the biggest ones.

Regional pricing is the alternative to it being cc fraud, which I'm pretty sure still qualifies as fraud but since the publisher doesn't lose money from it it's kinda whatever. But many games are now region locked and still show up on these sites, I sure wonder why.

It's americans assuming everything must be about the US and everyone they're talking to understands US terms or even is from there.

Like using state acronyms with no context and assuming ppl will know what it means. Or random cardinal directions when there's no country context. The whole thing likely exists because of the insane cultural bubble US education and media perpetuates combined with many people on the english speaking internet actually being from there.

Oh and also many of the people on reddit complaining about it were utterly unable to see when there was context implying it's about the US so they weren't really better.
