Someone linked to the conversation you're describing, and all I can say is "wow". I'm disgusted by the way that admin insisted on attacking a position you didn't take, claiming you DID take that position, and using "well it's the logical next step" as an excuse. I'm in agreement with what another user said: it's difficult not to see Beehaw in a different light after observing an admin behaving like that.

Yeah. Beehaw isn't on version 0.18 and Jerboa isn't compatible with anything below that version, so I figured that's why I went from no crashes to a bunch of 'em. I switched to Liftoff for now.

To be fair, according to the article this project is less than a month old! I'm sure it will continue to improve.

Ohhh, this is a good policy. I'm taking this!

I don't see this as a problem at all. The internet has always been this way. If there was one singular Linux community in the Fediverse and you had to go there to discuss the topic, you'd just have Reddit. And Reddit already exists.

I don't find bots useful. I was on Reddit for years and I didn't use any of them. I don't think the door should be closed on bots permanently but for now I'd rather not see them, they're no better than spam to me.

Yeeeah... It's crazy how many quality of life features Misskey and Firefish have over Mastodon. I'm thinking about making the switch myself despite the big difference in UI.

Sallie Mae has been calling me every morning at 8:15 and every afternoon around 2:00. I would be having a better week if they didn't harass me every single day (and yes it is every single day).

When I had an iPhone 3+ years ago, Apollo was the only way I interacted with Reddit. Once I switched to Android, I cycled through the choices before settling pretty happily with Boost. I don't intend to access or use Reddit on mobile at all once June 30th rolls around, and after the CEO's public comments since the protest, I don't really want to access it on desktop either.

Chuck looks (and sounds!) so sweet.

We don't need bots. It's concerning some people think any community /needs/ bots. That type of infinite growth mentality is wack and I don't subscribe to it. Like you, I block almost every bot I come across and my experience only continues to improve.

I'd love to, but I can't afford it. D: Pain

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is the reason I'm replaying JSRF all these years later! I'm (im)patiently waiting for its release

This ain't "American poutine" by a mile. This is "airport poutine" lol

There are a lot of people who agree with you! Here is a list of 64 modern webrings if you like to peek at random personal homepages or niche projects: https://sadgrl.online/cyberspace/webrings

Wyverns aren't dragons? I thought the words were synonyms / interchangable ... (Note: I have never played Skyrim)

Awesome! Happy Pride!!

Note: I am primarily on Mastodon and have been on-and-off since 2017.

I don't know how much success you will have in the short term trying to pull "field experts" from Mastodon to engage on Lemmy. The vast majority of current Mastodon users came from big Twitter and Tumblr waves, not Reddit. There are different expectations re: etiquette and moderation between the two platforms, and Lemmy doesn't have some of the moderation / privacy / security features that Mastodon users like.

Plus, a lot (not all) Mastodon users dislike Reddit's culture and unfortunately, Lemmy has seen a sharp turn to mirroring that culture. Even I have been increasingly turned off in recent weeks; it's only because I'm on Beehaw that I've found the Lemmy experience bearable.

Ohhh, I'm bookmarking this. This shit is cleeean

Reddit has its fair share of "repeat" subreddits. This isn't unique to a decentralised platform.

Personally, I think Spez is counting on users to think the way you do — make a big fuss, protest by leaving for 48 hours, and coming right back even if nothing has changed. Reddit has no reason to backtrack if they can just wait for the storm to blow over and everyone returns to business as usual after two or three days lol.

The music is so fucking good in JSRF and JSR. I've had the tracks in playlists for years despite not touching JSRF since I was a kid with access to the OG Xbox. It's a shame it was never brought up to any other platform so I'm forced to emulate

What happened with blahaj.zone's Lemmy instance? I'm on their Mastodon instance, not Lemmy, so I was unaware of anything happening with it.

My week is going well.

I was planning to attend the local pride parade and festival yesterday, but didn't go due to sheer laziness lol. So I got stoned and watched YouTube with my boyfriend instead.

Speaking of my boyfriend, three of his Horror Bishoujo figurines came in the mail from Japan today (Chucky, Freddy Krueger, and Edward Scissorhands). He's excited to put them up and I'm happy for him.

After living in this apartment for 4 years, I've finally put blinds up in the bedroom window. Blinds can really change the whole atmosphere of a room, so install them in your windows if you haven't already!

Man, fuck the haters. This sounds amazing and I'm seriously considering using it lol

Damn, crystals.rest is beautiful. This may be my pixel and retro game aesthetic bias speaking though...

I had no idea Hexbear decided to start federating until I saw the shitshow that is that thread. So glad I never have to see their BS lol

I've been jumping between Genshin Impact (Fontaine recently released), Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, and Baldur's Gate 3. I haven't made much progress in Genshin or BG3 because I'm having so much fun in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk lol

Can you explain how you use Pocket with your Kobo e-reader? Which model do you have? I have a Kobo Libra H2O and have never thought to use it for anything other than books I've checked out from the library.
