Is it not clear which definition of Crypto he's using?

Linus coming out against cryptography seems so unrealistically silly to me that it's not even worth considering.

"Hey bro, chill. We gotta make it look like we're at least trying to pretend it's legit."

Voting doesn't change anything. Not voting kills us.

We vote to buy time. We use that time to perform direct action.

These 2 things are not mutually exclusive.

This is what I've been trying to tell people, especially young lefties.

It just does not make sense to me why you would look at a broken system which gives a massive advantage to one party, see that the people trying to fix the system all belong to the other party, and arrive at the conclusion that both parties are equally at fault and the only solution is to throw your hands up in invisible protest.

It would be one thing if they just said they didn't care, but they seem to be convinced they are actually able to affect change this way.

It's like finding yourself in a fist fight and seeing your buddy just standing there laughing.

In other words, they have a systemic issue is where the threat of prosecution isn't enough to deter employees from supplementing income with theft.

I wonder what kind of conditions led to that.

Let's throw out first-past-the-post voting while we're at it.

Some context that makes this one of the funniest fucking things I've ever seen:

Adin Ross is a huge fan of Tate, to the point where he has funnelled himself into a shitty content niche trying to emulate him. He worships the guy.

He's also a well known moron who can't think before he speaks, which often lands him in hot water.

How about Analogue August or Stop Scrolling September?

I'll also say, Offline October is pretty dang good.

A funny thing happens to a word when you give it additional definitions: the original definition loses meaning.

Great news for traditional antisemites

I saw this coming and switched to GIMP and Inkscape. It's been a pain but I've managed. I'm just the IT guy though, and I would be laughed out of the room if I suggested our marketing team consider making the same switch.

It's not a matter of seeing it coming. They just don't care.

It's more than possible to cripple someone with legal bills

Times like this I wish I was still talking to her and she knew I was queer.

Ugh, same. I broke all contact with mine a little before the pandemic and now a tiny part of me will always be dying to know how deep into the cult she sank.

You just described it perfectly. I grew up in a conservative household and those were the exact thoughts I ended up internalizing for nearly 35 years.

I have an amazing life now, so I wouldn't want anything to change, but damn if I wouldn't have made some different decisions growing up if I had realized I was bi.

Can confirm: just got my results back and it turns out I have something like 20-30% The Gay. This sub knew before I did!

o/

Oh oh, I had this exact train of thought recently! The femboy part downward, at least.

It set off an introspective spiral for a little while that made me recontextualize a whole bunch of shit throughout my life. Turns out not only am I bi, but it has actually been kind of really obvious the whole time.

I had it gone within two minutes if seeing it appear. Found this thread on it:

The top pinned answer has a single line reg command that I used. I assume there are still pieces of it that will just always be around, but at least it's out of my mind for now.

The GPO method should work similarly, and it's what I'm going to try as soon as I see it start showing up on my work domain. I say when, not if, because these things have a way of getting around our deployment schedules. I just know one day will get a dm from a user asking if its a virus and I'll end up finding out a third of the office already loves it.

Could be "come hither", could be "I have mace"

I've lost 50 lbs in the past year. It is almost entirely due to the fact that I replaced alcohol with weed after it became legal here. I sleep better, eat better, I'm less anxious, and I actually look forward to working out now.

It's very hard to see any downsides.

Unfortunately the Republican strategy for a while has been voting with courts in mind. When the only thing you care about is appointing judges, the game becomes "our team at all costs"

It's a winning play in a first-past-the-post voting system. I don't see it changing without voting reform.

The problem isn't that it's a hysterical idea, it's that Trump is dumb, unhinged, and blindly supported enough to try it. We know because he literally tried.

One of the games I play on my commute is imagining what the bike route would be like. I looked it up once and every path included a high traffic street with no sidewalk; where I live, that's straight up flirting with death. Cycling in my area requires a large group and/or limited capacity for risk assessment.

99 percent of ADHD memes are just describing normal human condition.

And when a normal human condition becomes a significant problem, we call it a disorder.

Hey yeah it's funny you ALSO forget shampoo sometimes. Yep, that is normal. Sounds like it's not a problem for you then. Cool.

I'm assuming they also saw the age and jumped ahead into the mourning process.

NO.

If anyone has a term for this specific phobia, please let me know

Rooting has always been beyond most users, even if it's technically trivial. It's definitely solvable, unfortunately most solutions in this direction tend to draw attention of corporate legal teams.

I even tried watching gay porn when I was 19-20ish just to see and yeah... Nope.

Yeah I did the same thing at that age and was absolutely transfixed. Felt weird about it though, so I didn't try again for a while.

Of course it's obvious in hindsight lmao

Nice try, FBI!

But but but if customers know how much it's going to cost ahead of time, they might decide to go somewhere else!

If anything can, it's mdma

My wife and I LOVE our house and don't want to leave, but we definitely thought it was going to be a starter home. We straight up could not afford the mortgage payments anywhere else at today's rates, even in a much smaller house

My gut feeling says that's not entirely true. Generative AI has so many qualities that make could it offensive to so many people, I think we were going to see a pushback from artists regardless. The devs' shitty training practices just happened to give the artists a particularly strong case for grievances.

I remember this sentiment being floated around a lot leading up to 2016. If 2020 should have taught us anything, it's that things can get worse in ways we won't expect.

A lot of people knew a global pandemic was on the horizon. That much was expected.

Trump knew. He knew and threw out the established response plan his first year. We did not expect him to be able to do that much harm.

Not to mention all that sweet, sweet prison labor!

The divinity games definitely felt inspired by DND. I've even been able to convince friends (including some who don't play video games at all) to pick it up because of how similar it feels to tabletop. Larian was a natural choice for BG3 and I'm convinced that was part of the vision with their early work

I grew up hearing about company loyalty. That world does exist anymore but the business world really wants you to believe it does

Made me check hope, even though I knew it was a shitpost.

Remember when Gore conceded in a too-close-call election because he didn't want to risk compromising the integrity of the entire federal government by dragging out the fight?

It's almost cute now

I'd guess it's for droughts
