I think there was a golden 20 year era for learning basic computing. If you were a kid somewhere between 1985 and 2005 you had to figure out some slightly more technical things to use a computer. I'm late Gen X and so was exposed early on to the Commodore 64 and MS-DOS, but kids working with Windows 3, 95 and 98 would have developed similar skills.

Not sure how you had your Chromecast set up but I have the 4K version on one TV and the Nvidia Shield on another. The apps I want are favorited and sit right in the center of the screen. I turn it on with my remote and select the app to launch it. I'm not sure it could be any simpler.

I live in a small city with municipal fiber. 1 Gbps symmetrical is glorious and I would happily pay more than the $70 they're charging.

My provider recently started offering a 2gbps plan for $30 more a month. I was tempted until I thought about the money I'd need to spend on new equipment to take advantage of it. 1gbps fiber is plenty for now.

I've been in Plus for quite a few years now. I used to be able to get it for $40 around Black Friday. That was an acceptable price. If I can get it for $60 this year I may re-up. There's no way in heck I'm paying $80.
