I'm Danish. Opening beer with a lighter or other things that aren't technically a bottle opener.

Fair enough. I had never seen the word before, but saw it used in comments in the same way that people usually use whine so I assumed it was a misspelling. My bad. Thank you for teaching me something new.

When will I be able to use RCS in other messaging apps than Google Messages on Android?

Would that be "bird law"?

Firefox.

My mother was a professional hot air balloon pilot...

I really liked how this started, but not how it progressed.

I just want an affordable 10" color e-ink ebook reader, that has natural colors, so it is good enough to read modern comics on.

Edit: I forgot to mention "affordable"

Since I switched to Connect for Lemmy, I'm really liking it. I found Jerboa to be a bit unintuitive, which is a reminder of how much a third-party app can mean for the enjoyment of a platform and why people have so strong feelings about their Reddit app of choice that they're willing to leave the platform if that app doesn't work anymore. I don't know if I'd have kept trying to get into Lemmy if I hadn't found Connect.

I believe Dell even has some models that come with Linux preinstalled.

Nah, people aren't smug about using POP OS it's more like Ubuntu for gamers.

Is the deer the Libreboot logo? Mine has a rabbit (Coreboot). I flashed Coreboot on my old Chromebook a couple of years ago and it's been running different flavours of linux since without any fuss.

Yup. That's me.

You can make tomato salad with just tomato and onion.

Wait, so Apple is doing something good for 3rd party apps? I did not expect that to happen in my lifetime

Oh, that takes me back... Thank you.

Wow! Is that what happened to Alien Blue? I remember people Praising Alien Blue Years ago... How did they mess that up so bad?

One step at a time...

"CFU of Twitter" does have a nice ring to it

Then Spez could be CFU of Reddit. I kinda miss Ellen Pao. And Chooter.

Edit: A word.

I don't want to live anymore.

I know life is tough right now, and it sure sounds like yours is rougher than most. As somebody who's been struggling a lot, both with finances and healt, lately as well, I can relate somewhat. I know it's not much of a comfort and kind of a cliche but: when things are as bad as they are now, they can only get better. It sucks waiting while everything sucks, but unfortunately that's all we can do. Also, look around you. There's always something to live for, even if it's just seeing the sunset again or the smell of freshly cut grass. You're right though, if only money was distributed more evenly and the super rich were taxed fairly, things would be a lot easier for many of us. In the words of the hardcore band Deez Nuts:

"money can not buy you happiness it's true what they say, but a motherfucker's still got bills to pay"

Wow. That was a lot of hearsay without any sources.

And that first album is pretty much an under-appreciated masterpiece.

Indeed! Her love versions of "Troy" give me the chills. It's a good song on record but her intensity of the live performances lifted it into legend territory.

Edit: spelling (two words).

I can live without whatever it offers that android doesn't.

But t that's the thing, isn't it? iPhones don't offer anything that Android doesn't except maybe blue Text bubbles.

former Apollo users.

Nurses, teachers, fire, EMTs

I,too, wanted to become fire when I grew up. Turns out it's not a real job. Instead I became disappointed.

TBH loads of stuff about headphones and audio equipment, gaming and computers, etc.

Did you not get sucked into the mechanical keyboards hole? Good for you! I subscribed to r/mk for a long time, but luckily jumped ship before I started getting into custom keyboards. I do have a mech keyboard though but only a basic WASD V2 with cherry clears. Nothing fancy.

I do miss having the money to buy new headphones and amps. I love music and movies, so the headphone hobby actually made a lot of sense to me, and I don't see any of the equipment I've bought as a waste of money. I love my expensive headphones and smile every time I use them 🙂

That's a pretty nice bundle. The games I would want from that bundle are already in my collection, but if they weren't, I'd be all over it!

Spotify/apple/etc don’t produce music and are not trying to out license each other.

Tidal seemed to try going down this road with exclusives but thankfully none of the others followed.

Yes, you can walk around it but what about someone in a wheelchair?

I split my time between Lemmy and Tildes, Lemmy is the most Reddit-like, Tildes is more of a place for contemplation and I like it a lot, but when I feel like doomscrolling a la Reddit, I go to Lemmy.

Cigarette lighters don't explode that violently if they're punctured. The greatest hazard would probably be getting plastic in your eye. If you do it wrong the lighter usually just gets scratched.

Thank you, I didn't know about piped.video so this was very useful.

Good bot!

Lemmy, Kbin, Matrix, Mastodon (rarely, but I do have an app installed for it.)

Edit: ending the parentheses.

You grab the neck of the bottle tightly with your dominant hand so your finger a thumb is holding the cap tightly. Then you take the lighter in the other hand and wedge it in between the dominant hand and cap. Squeeze tightly and use the lighter as a lever.

I've visited a couple of times. My preferred app (relay) is still working, but I'm guessing I'll jump ship completely once relay is affected, Lemmy has mostly replaced my Reddit habits anyway.

EndeavourOS on my laptop, Pop!_OS on my gaming PC.

Yes. Whenever it's fitting to say "fuck Nvidia!" So likely forever and ever and always.

In the high end Audio/headphone community many people still use them. Some of them are really expensive, too... However, as far as I remember, certain iPods are still considered some of the best portable players because their DAC is still really good.

I've told this story on here before, but here it is again: I used to write for a very Windows-centric computer magazine, and after a couple of years I noticed that most of the content I was writing was about how to make Windows behave less like Windows. So I thought I'd give Linux a go, and I haven't looked back since. I've had phases when I tried convincing all my friends to make the switch, but I've realized that it's just not for everyone. I don't think I'm obsessed, I don't customize my desktop much, I just want my system to work smoothly.
