🤠🤠

When someone would ask a good question that you also wanna know the answer to, but then all the "answers" were just jokes bc everyone wanna get upvotes. I dont really mind jokes but those times it was a bit sad, then sometimes no one would answer for real bc i guess they see 10 replies and assume surely one of them is real already.

Also repost bots.

And apple vs samsung feuds.

And sometimes looked like whenever some people try to organize action or protests, comments just spamming that "protests do nothing" or "voting does nothing," or "what is this gonna do," not suggesting any other solution either, almost like trying to encourage apathy? Or discourage action. Sometimes i wondered if those were bots.

Also the r/wooosh when someone didn't understand a joke. .-.

SAME its happened on Reddit where I would have a back and forth w someone where we disagreed but it was respectful, and then in the middle of it I'd notice the other person's comments being -1 even new ones. Meaning someone who isnt in the convo would start downvoting the other person, and I'd be like 'what if they think I did it? What if that damages a mutual understanding they were close to reaching? What if that turns them off from considering a different point of view bc they assume I'm doing it and that I'm hostile?' Then sometimes I'd be like "sorry someone is downvoting you its not me"

This is a good point. Because even websites which replaced others, oftentimes the older one is still there. Like even Digg still alive after Reddit got more popular. Some people say Tumblr's dead but its really not especially for specific interests like games. The success of you isnt based on the failure of someone else, and its important to remember and not become cross because reddit still has users. Especially its been only like 10 days and a lot have already gone onto other sites.

I dont wanna give them traffic so i just trying to avoid going at all on reddit

If the sub were private that time, wouldnt it have prevented him from being able to delete the comment in there in the first place (bc he wouldnt be able to see them when its privet?) In this case he was able to see them i guess because he was able to delete them specific. But am not sure

Bc not all of them know how. some people just started magazines bc they were told "is there no magazine for that thing u like? Just make it yourself!" which doesnt necessarily mean they know how to moderate a community or even do custom CSS.

Better yet: "this question has been answered here <link to old question, answer does not work/doesnt apply or work anymore>"

It barely went down then gone basically back up... this is like those articles who say "people are FURIOUS about blah blah" and then it's only one tweet with no likes or retweets someone saying "i kinda dislike blah blah"

Now that i read it: i saw some ppl here wonder about bots posting comments or maybe downvoting, bc of apparently a lot of comments being against the protest suddenly more than before? And more downvotes on comments about it? If really bots are being used for this, will that also contribute to the traffic metric like a normal user would?

But that said im not sure if theyre bots, but i did see some people mentioned that they thought there's some false accounts speaking on Reddit's side.

Don't download it just to try! It has trackers be careful. Is better not to ever download it really.

This is kinda random but till know i always saw "camaraderie" which i guess is more of a French influence spelling, but TIL comradery also an allowed way to spell it! Also ya I agree w you PLUS there seems to be less bots than Reddit atm

How can i hide this post

Everyone, on kbin u can see who boosted , downvoted/reduced, or upvote/favourited any comment by pressing "more" then "activity". For posts it's at the bottom of the comment section

There are less reposts bc its newer and bc there is a lot less bots

Is not a supernatural thing but a girl pretended to be a cat. Apparently this is kinda common? Or at least since then I seen a few people online say a girl at their school also pretended to be a cat? I think we were 10. Anyway I don't know how she is now because she left about the year later and idk her last name to look her up.

I'd like to say that I've seen comment of yours about language before and I want to say I really respect this. I know for me some words are harder to say in English (like rural - though I have practiced! But atm when I say sounds a bit like roool lol) and before seeing on Reddit, I wouldn't have thought that conversate isn't considered a word by so many! It doesn't seem so wrong to me. And it helps to know there are people in the world like you who wouldn't just be disgusted by the difference.

It's in line with other behaviour he showed tbh. Like he acted like rules, regulations and warnings are kind of pointless or at least are overly careful. So probably he thought "this still works, it isnt broken so they're probably just not using it because they're overly cautious." Or MAYBE he thought "well its only gonna be used for a few hours at a time, and by the time it gets too bad to use i will have made enough money to buy better and make a replacement." On news on TV a reporter said that guy told he wanted to be an astronaut before but was not allowed bc of his eyesight?+ Maybe that was a regulation that he thought was "pointless," stopped him from doing what he really wanted, and he just never got over it. Which is a bit sad if so but not excuse..

Weird is some people who are alive who like him being like "nooo he was always so careful about everything how could this happen." I think he was just good at rationalizing his actions and explaining them in a way that convinced those people but that doesn't mean he actually was using a perspective of safety even if he framed it that way.

+(Interview from 2017. Funny is back then he said the price is like 105,000 dollars per person, which less than half of what those people paid the last time. Also in the interview he didnt say why he didnt get to be an astronaut, it was a reporter who said he told him he didnt get to because of his eyesight but in this interview he just said that he wanted to be an astronaut but this is like exploring another planet and he wanted to for his whole life.)

Im commenting before reading: I wonder if traffic'll go up a lot from r/place tomorrow. I dont plan to participate know some ppl even who are staying away from Reddit plan to participate in r/place to put a protest message. But what I wondered if Reddit trying to ensure the mothly activity for June look the same as other months so the dip was not so noticeable. But how much does activity usually increase when r/place happened before? (If at all)

But ik also some ppl said theyre leaving Reddit June 30th, so maybe itll look different then.

TBH Im tired of constantly hearing ab their sillyness tho i know keeping themselves in the news is maybe at least part of the goal of this lol.

Yea. I guess "reddit cannot survive without its moderators" =/= "reddit cannot survive without HUMAN moderators." Probably if they had the capacite to, and any excuse, they wouldve already just replaced mod system with AI.

Codecademy can be good if you are just starting out like the first time trying CSS. Probably would wanna do the lessons on html and then CSS but ya. I took already computer science course in school (only intro course yet bc is summer now) and there can teach more stuff, but before then i already did some lessons on codecademy and it helped to have context for the beginning parts of the class.

I think is just that it depends on the person, like some ppl might be less open than others bc thats just how they are whether or not they were ND. Maybe thats just how hise personality is or how his traits manifest

I dont even think is just like that bc someone made a post about the response from users of the piracy subreddit to the blackout, and those there also were saying things like, that those who left are mod boots lickers. I don't know if it's so much ab your interests, bc there are people who care and people who dont in probably every group. Probably bc a lot of people against what spez is doing already left, so the ones left are mostly those who support spez or apathetic *tho not all of them

Sorry commenting again because I wanna say I so agree about megathreads. I thought it's just me being picky, and maybe I should just be glad for the organization. But really, I didn't like them all so much because sometimes it slowed a topic or stifled the conversation about a topic. And it really seem to make the topic be more hidden. (I understood sometimes to have one big thread organizing links for example, but for some things it seemed to hide a subject from wider view, and even tho searching posts wasn't so good on Reddit, trying to search through the megathread seemed worse..)

U can take the redditor out of reddit, but u cant take the reddit out of redditors

No but really i think is just a human thing. Like when someone makes a popular song and then many people try to make a similar one. Or someone does their hair one way and many try to copy. Or even in real life, there are some jokes that are old but are known now because they got repeated a lot. Even the figure of speech i use there, is repeated over time. So im just teasing a bit, i know it's not only a reddit thing lol (but did happen on reddit a lot! This repitition does remind me a bit of those reddit comments like "and my axe!" "I also choose this guy's wife" "narrator: it did not" "sir this is a wendy's" "instructions unclear: ____" etc. but hopefully wont be as drawn out.)

That guy did NOTHING when he had a chance to stand up against what was going on. he even was mad he got banned bc he admitted he wasnt one of the ones who enacted any actions in protest, and that it was another mod who did it. Were always so annoying and bein an antagoniste just bc he knew he wouldnt get banned for it and drunk from online "power" so idrc.

Good thing for him is that usually when reddit makes a good decision is not permanent so maybe he will be unbanned soon.

Thats a big one i think. Iirc people would use an extension (or maybe a 3rd party app?) to block those users that commonly repost things and for a period of time i saw people saying their feed changed a lot on Reddit just from that. Tho Idk if thatd change much lately bc a lot of reposts I saw before coming here were from new account that were bots tryna build karma :/

Yeah i agree. It was a very sad thing. And even worse to make light of when you consider the number of people who become imprisoned for minor things or even wrongly. If prison rpe is so prevalent as Reddit jokes made it seem, it wouldn't only happen to people who those making the jokes believe 'deserve it' (which, also, is awful to think about rpe.) I remember learning in class about David Milgaard, and he wrote about his experiences, including that violation. I wonder if those who joked "they'll love (random young guy in publicfreakouts video) in prison" even know or care how awful r*pe really is. It's really something that should be prevented.

Well a lot of stuff posted on here seem tech related (or cat related lol) so i get if youre not into that maybe doesnt seem so interesting. But it can help if you look in magazine for your country/city maybe. Or for your interest. Or even something like cooking or news if you like news?

Not everyone tho i wasnt using Reddit bc im trying to avoid giving it traffic. Some ppl also just left like deleted their account even just before the blackout

The article says

In a brief statement Friday, Sweden’s Prosecution Authority said it has launched ”a preliminary investigation where the crime classification is murder, but there is no suspect in the case.”

Maybe that is what the person meant or referrence

I think he had (I think it's called survivorship bias? Can it be survivorship bias if someone applies it to their own self?) Or just thinking he is untouchable or exception. I am not saying all rich people or their child are like this, but he came from a rich family and sometime people like him get a bit insulated to think anything wrong can happen to them, or they would have a way out all the time.

Sometime i have greek yogurt and fruit? Tbh i dont eat breakfast sometimes bc usually i am not hungry enough to eat more than once if i even get hungry at all. My parents used to make me finish breakfast when I was like 4 and under but then they stopped and were more like "you dont have to eat if youre not hungry." So i guess if youre not hungry maybe not force yourself to eat? But at the same time i get esp if you do lots of hard work u might wanna have at least protein like boiled egg.

I do get ppl saying its complicated. A lot of people dont know much about servers just as a start? (Not that you really have to to use kbin or lemmy.) or know anything about federation or what it mean in this sense. If you ask them what is meant by instance, most people saying so probably wouldn't understand that in this sense even if English's their maternal language. Not even that those people arent smart, just like just because you dont understand a foreign language doesnt mean youre not smart: this is just an area they dont know about.

I think some people find it strange that people are confused, because maybe they dont often talk with people who arent as familiar with technology, or more used to being on 'tech' related parts of the internet where some people would understand these. It seems this way bc the community of kbin seems to be more into technology, like i seen programmer humor posts get popular a lot, and discussions about linux, and the technology magazine, and stuff like that.

If so i can see why someone being confused would be surprising. But know that: a lot of people probably wouldnt join other social media either if it was more user-driven (in terms of setup? If thats phrased right?) which is why stuff gets more simplified on official websites and app. Is important to remember that many people (even some my own age!) dont have any context for all of this stuff they would need to deal with and decide in order to use Kbin/Lemmy - dont know what is an instance. What is federation. Defederation. I would say its easy to understand once you try, but i know i speak for myself who already has some knowledge and interest about technology and learn fast. And not everyone even wants to use something that required them to figure it out as they go.

Yea i noticed some ppl here who have a profile pic, they have a kinda similar style i guess (but nothing wrong w that!)

really i was thinking its nice to see more people with their own pfp, is kinda cool to see who youre talking to.

(Sorry to say im not in that group though - am not a guy, do not have a beard and tho i have glasses i dont usually wear them in pics lol)

Idk if youve ever seen the bagel made of semi solid pasta and sauce that had a bite out of it? I think that was in TIHI once. Im gonna try and find it and link it.

Edit: this is the google image result. U can see is from that subreddit but also posted other places.

Why dont ppl just post a screenshot of a tweet instead of linking it, same with reddit posts ?

I dont, but i understand people expecting kbin or Lemmy to be replacements bc people have said that theyre replacements for Reddit and to move there. And tbh kbin is not bad (havent used Lemmy much)

Yea :) like a few times in new i saw stuff that seemed like they miiight be ads in disguise but it seems to happen a lot less than reddit (where new posts couldve been several reposts and bot nonsense.)

Just say youre doing whatever it is youre doing. Like "relaxing, staying home" (? If the field is at your home? Or is there no field and that was a joke lol) I'm not from or in the U.S.A. and if someone asked (online) I'd probably just say "just staying home I don't live in the U.S.A. ." (But since you're in the U.S.A. ofc u dont need to say the second part.)
