Well, she was manipulative towards the patients. The worst part was when the young suicidal patient was with the girl and she reprimanded him, saying she was going to tell his mom. And she let him of her sight. It was just a power trip.

Wonder if she's even alive

This is generally my belief. There is no dichotomy. Life is full of gray areas. Also what is morally virtuous or superior to you may not be the case for others. Take religious differences, for example.

I actually had my partner read this too, and we're in agreement, so you've got both a male and female opinion here lol:

SHE asked for your number, SHE wanted to spend more time with you. Seems awfully convenient that she wasn't able to do her work for whatever reason, and instead was content with just chit chatting. Also – hearts are flirty. Especially at work AND you just met the person.

We think she's interested but you probably didn't do enough during the hang out, and she didn't want to embarrass herself, so she just downplayed it.

Our advice is to just ask her out. She seems more forward, so she probably appreciates confidence. "Hey I had fun talking! We should get dinner some time. Are you available?"

Mine's the Vietnamese bánh mì. Cucumbers, cilantro, pickled carrots and daikon, jalapeños, mayo spread (similar to Kewpie), paté, and your choice of meat, on a Vietnamese baguette. I prefer traditional cold cuts, char siu (xa xiu), or meatballs (xiu mai). And I always pay for extra paté.👌🏼

They were certainly negligent in not properly assessing McClain (who was already restrained) prior to ketamine admin. Once ketamine was given, they then also failed to monitor and recognize cardiac arrest.

This case will likely lead to change in paramedic emergency care protocols.

I sort of feel sorry for the paramedics in the sense that they were too complacent and should have told the cops "no" when they tried to dictate patient care (as in, 'you need to sedate this dangerous person'). I work in healthcare too, so I'm familiar with cops trying to dictate medical care and the importance of advocating for your pt when that happens. It can be intimidating to tell a cop to fuck off, but sometimes you have to do it. If nothing else, it's your ass on the line.

Damn I have a really cute baby alpaca pic too, but I don't wanna post it because I'm basically snuggling with it and it'd be hard to crop myself out. xD They have really soft fur too. Super delicate and wispy.

I'm not surprised. There's all kinds of fucked up backstories like this once you start digging. There are very unhinged people out there who get warnings, get put on admin leave, maybe transferred. Very difficult to fire if local govt and unions are involved. And you bet your ass they protect each other because that means selfishly protecting themselves and the entire department.

“Impacts of wolf reintroduction... need to be properly reviewed to avoid unintended negative consequences to the natural environment, wildlife, and people of the impacted communities,”

Pretty sure the wolves are more natural than cattle ranching...

I get the autonomy thing and refusing care is cool and all. Totally their right. I just remind them what the adverse outcome for refusal could be, document that and move on. BUT if I'm charting that the patient took the medication, I'm 100% standing there to witness it because I'm not just gonna trust them on it and potentially falsely document. People cheek their meds, pocket them, take them at a later time with other meds to get high, or whatever the hell. DON'T blindly trust patients. But yeah. Basically - I just care about the legalities. Lol

You gotta browse through the list of communities and go more niche lol. For example, I'm subscribed to stuff like aquariums and plantscaping, travel, NFL, horror movies, awwducational, 2000snostalgia, food, ramen, true crime. Of course local communities, my state and local area for example. I like birds, so birding, why not? I'm watching kaiju movies now, so I subscribed to a kaiju community. Specific games I like. Specific music genres I like, shoegaze for example, but alternativenation's an easy start. Explain like I'm five (ELI5) and Today I Learned (TIL) are popular and not full of downer stuff. I'm subscribed to stuff even if there are no\few subscribers, because one day, there will be more.

The only thing that sucks is that I'm also subscribed to tech and news, and being that those communities are the most popular, they're always flooding the top of my feed. Sorting by "hot" helps.

Fun question! There's an abundance in Vietnamese. Usually used by parents and/or old folk (I can hear it now...)

Mèo khen mèo dài đuôi — Literal translation "cat praises cat's long tail." A way of expressing narcissism.

Uống nước nhớ nguồn — Literal translation is "drink water, remember roots." So you'd pause, reflect, and remember where you came from.

Gieo gió gặt bão— Literal translation is "sow winds, weather storms." A way of saying "you reap what you sow."

Có công mài sắt có ngày nên kim — Literal translation "Perseverance grinds iron some day into needles." Used like "practice makes perfect."

Trời có mắt — Literal translation "Heaven has eyes." Usually used when someone's wronged, but don't worry - heaven is watching.

Gần mực thì đen, gần đèn thì sáng — Literal translation "near the ink it blackens, near the lamp it lights." You're influenced by those you're around.

Nuôi ong tay áo — Literal translation "raise bees in shirtsleeve." As in "to nurture a snake in one's bosom," kindness will be met by betrayal.

Called the cops bc he was wearing a ski mask and therefore looked suspicious

This is going to be super Asian... But I usually have rice on hand, and in the fridge an assortment of Chinese pickled/preserved veggies, fermented tofu, Vietnamese fermented prawns, salted and/or century eggs, kimchi, jars of seasoning like sate for example. Keeps forever (use clean utensils to avoid contaminating the jars) and good in a pinch.

Even better to add a side of greens if I have them. Boil or saute for a few minutes, then toss them in whatever seasoning (oyster sauce for example, keeps it simple and magically makes everything taste like stir fry).

Yes! I stopped caring about the edited mark. Why should everything be perfect at the first post? I edit for grammar all the time, fix my phrasing, edit for better flow, add things I forgot to mention, etc.

As a Californian who also works in the ED, there are levels to mental illness. Clearly you haven't seen the worst of it.

Bc that's just what girls do bro😂 It's actually clever on her part. She basically found a way to ask you out without having to ask you out. Or "hang out," if you prefer. It's low risk, and basically no way of you rejecting her. She could always default to, 'well I was just doing my own thing anyway' lol.

I guess this is a sigh of relief for healthcare workers :D

So instead of wild agave, we could be growing agave, but the big distilleries don't want to

Thread bumping would help a lot actually!

Ooh. There's a place in Seattle called Un Bien that makes a great Cuban sandwich. The original cook from Paseo (their Cuban style sandwich won 2014's best sandwich in Seattle) left and opened Un Bien. I always make sure to stop by when I get the chance!

And it currently has a higher suicide rate than Japan.

Same. Time doesn't mean much anymore, other than 'what time do the stores open' and 'should I do my shopping now before shit closes' lol.

When you search it in maps, it comes up as "Windows XP Bliss Hill"

I don't do turkey and cranberry sauce, porkchop with applesauce, paté with jam/chutneys... something about meat and fruit sauce. Well but I don't like chicken and waffles either. Oh, and bacon donuts!

High Fidelity for me. Idk how many times I've watched it lol.

Yikes! But I could totally see this scenario happening lol. Maybe he came off agitated, manicky (he's in the hospital, maybe he's panicking or upset or whatever). Then he says he's famous too so the doctor was like oh ok, grandiose delusional. Check, check, and check. Assuming he doesn't already have a psych history, I don't see how they would've came to the mental illness conclusion if he was simply calmly saying who he was lol I mean that would've been really stupid

Or the whole police dropping them off at EDs on bullshit 5150s like we can cure homelessness lol. That'd be great

You can try to find it at a well-stocked Asian grocery store. It's called "tom chua" or "mam tom chua" (sour shrimp) and sold in jars like this:

The flavor is actually more sweet and sour though. It's very strong, so I'd recommend it more if you're already familiar with fish sauce. You eat it whole, complete with the shell (it's softened similar to sardines are).

Little death mittens

Sometimes I get called out for pacing around when it's like no! I'm actually doing stuff.. except I'm being forgetful and inefficient so I keep having to backtrack >_<

This is something Japan would do.

Yeah I don't really relate to the complaint because why does all your fun have to come from a single website? Does your online content have to be a one-stop shop? I just hop around Lemmy, Tildes, read sports news, maybe watch some cool videos on Youtube, etc etc. And when I'm bored with internet, I have other stuff IRL to do. Yeah I'm just not treating Lemmy like an endless scroll feed like Reddit or Instagram. I just check out what's new (I might pop in a few times a day), participate if I want, and move on.

The linked in-depth article by Allie Conti was a good read too. I would've done a charge-back, regardless of the blow back. Fuck AirBnB - they should be complicit in this.

Hey! There's !aquariums@lemmy.ca, !aquariums@lemmy.world, and !aquariums@kbin.social. The lemmy world one's a bit more active, but I don't care, I just subscribe to them all lol. I haven't found a substitute for r/PlantedTank or r/Aquascape yet though. Someone's created !plantedtank@kbin.social, but it's dead.

Edit: I just realized there's !reeftank@lemmy.world and !ReefTank@kbin.social if you like saltwater!

Seems like a no brainer! And especially useful in dense cities where you don't want to be stuck idling in a car.

The U.S. doing business with Mexico over China is great. Some pros I can already think of:

With increased transport using rails, it'd be easier to smuggle shit, therefore you'd think the cartels would be more cooperative. Which means less violence, less turf wars, etc.

Better for the environment. Much less fuel to transport stuff.

If Mexico's economy improves, a lot of the illegal immigrants that would normally come to the U.S. would probably go to Mexico instead (closer, similar in culture and language).

Pretty much can't think of a single con, other than prices going up a little bit. It's worth it.

Saves time from having to draw them on every day.

Had a good wallowing, thinking my life was over. Then slept on it. But yeah - just a refusal to let whatever it was be the end. And to continue not for others but for myself.

The FBI doesn't fuck around.
