Wait really? Many days my only breakfast is black tea and never had an issue

I like the taste of coffee but I'm way too sensitive to it so I'll only get it when sitting in a coffee shop with a bad tea selection. Tea doesn't seem to have any effect and there's much more variety. I've had times in winter when I was drinking 4-5 cups a day.

I find myself adding this to a lot of hack/breach headlines lately

Why does it feel like lately more and more articles fit Not The Onion or A Boring Distopia?

Also worth mentioning you can copy more files on it afterwards and it works as normal storage too.

"C is accessible" is not something I expected to read today

Pocket space is only half the problem. The other half is one-handed use and the flip is huge when opened.

Recommendations on YouTube are pretty bad but there is still good content. You just need to find some good channels and basically only browse the subscriptions tab. It's a much better experience

Not sure if this applies to the US but for most things you buy from a supermarket the generic supermarket brand is usually just as good or even better than the big brands. And it's usually much cheaper.

I recently found out about URLCheck. You set it as default browser and it gives you a popup when clicking on a link. You can preview, edit the link and open it with the app you want instead of automatically opening it in its default app. Especially useful for apps that don't give a link preview on text like my comment that hide the link address.

At periods when playing a lot of geoguessr I often catch myself looking at license plates and street signs when walking on the street, as if trying to figure out where I am.

Also years after I stopped playing assassin's creed, I still get a mental image of a red outline when I walk too close to a cop.

A mouse with programmable keys on the side. It's so convenient combining control keys with mouse movements in one hand.

It's not a weird animal but cats. Stray cats are literally everywhere and aren't afraid of people so many will stop to pet them. And on the other hand, when visiting other countries, the lack of street cats does strike me a bit weird.

Not sure about languages but do headphone letters actually get translated? I've always seen them as L-R.

Next step is for people to also start using it and we'll experience the beginning of AI generated slang

The original image said windows where this would be accurate but I doubt it applies to the average linux user

Especially useful when the specific thread is now the first result on Google.

DuckDuckGo as a default with Google as fallback depending on what I'm looking for. For lemmy the default search of my instance works well enough so haven't tried external engines.

Imo it doesn't make much sense to advertise an OS while it's still required to install it manually. Last time I was looking for a laptop I couldn't find a store selling anything with Linux or even without Windows pre-installed. How many people will be convinced by an ad to look up instructions online and actually go through the process?

I'd ask what I'm looking at here but feel I might regret it

The good thing is GoPros are still good years later. Most of the action my GoPro 4 has seen was in the last 2-3 years after sitting for a really long time.

Swallow pills. It takes 3-4 tries every time for the smaller ones.

Because it's something you use a lot for small things throughout the day. When you need to quickly answer a message or look at a map you shouldn't need to stop and place down everything you're holding.

Greece but pretty sure it applies for Turkey too

I don't know if you count the A series but most people I know buy that and not the S series, and that's usually much cheaper than a pixel. Also I feel like it's an unpopular opinion here but I really like OneUI and once you get used to it, it may not be convenient to change back to stock.

If you've come across the short story Guts at some point, it's apparently part of the book Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. I haven't read the whole book so not sure what the other stories are like but this story is really trying to be both gross and fucked up.

Watching game shows like the voice or masterchef of other countries to get a feeling of "real" language/accents. Usually movies or the news use a more formal and clear language but when you understand these shows you know you can understand people in everyday conversations.

I don't know what happens with dogs (there aren't that many strays) but most street cats were never pets, they've always been free. There is an effort to reduce them that's definitely failing.

This is good news but I love that our current standard is at "not nearly as disastrous side-effects"

I've always wanted to try this but is there a privacy implication? I guess it connects to an openstreetmaps account, which will then keep a public history of all the places you've been.

I don't know if the question comes from there but that's the exact plot of White Christmas in Black Mirror. I'd say if you build something with the ability to suffer then its suffering matters. Not sure how you would prove that though.

I'd like to add the sloth bear to your list

I feel this is mostly the case with short stories (and a lot of those works were short stories). Where there isn't enough material for a full movie, the writers are free to add more to the story without messing much with the original. DADOES did have enough material but the movie decided to go a different direction while keeping the main theme. I wouldn't say one is better than the other in this case as they're pretty different.

Until this article I thought you could swap eSIMs between phones, exactly like normal ones

Usually not and I always found it weird. In the rare occasion a smartphone appears in a dream it's always impossible to use, like nothing works correctly. I actually had a dream today where I was lost and Google Maps was giving some very bad instructions.

Strangely enough I don't think I've ever dreamt of a computer even though most of my day is spent in front of one.

This was a wild read

I've only used ChatGPT and it's mostly good for language-related tasks. I use it for finding tip-of-my-tongue words or completing/paraphrasing sentences. Basically fancy autocorrect. It's also good at debugging stuff sometimes when the language itself doesn't give useful errors (looking at you sql). Other than that, any time I've asked for factual information it's been wrong in some way or simply not helpful.

Regardless of home alone, every version of Carol of the Bells I've heard is great. And it sounds like a horror movie theme so I listen to it throughout the year.

Bet it still doesn't have an SD card though
