Yup with inflation the $60 would be somewhere between $80-85 dollars equivalent in buying power.

So its technically cheaper. $60 today is $40-45, 14 years ago.

These are great for wildlife as they provide a safe crossing over high-speed highways. They are usually design to be in already existing migration paths where moving a proposed highway may not work and not disrupting migration paths is of importance.

The way car companies are working around this legislation is why it's so hard to find and buy smaller sized cars (like smart cars) even if there is demand. It also makes our community less safe for pedestrian traffic.

Could you imagine having to fill up on gas driving to a specific gas station designed for your make/brand of car.

Hey honey, going out to fill up the car at the local Subaru Gas Station.

We did nothing and tried everything!

I would take being on the computer all day over being stuck in traffic as shown in the image. I would even say I prefer it to either walking or cycling down a street designed like this.

It sucks that streets like this are considered normal in car dependent north american cities.

We need more transit (that has its own dedicated lane), and cities/towns that are designed for people as opposed to cars.

These are the same people that throw their trash out their car windows and litter in public parks and parking lots.

Giant propellers in the sky kill whales got it, but propellers underwater are fine right? Behind a large cargo ship right?

Makes sense as to why airplanes no longer use propellers as well.

It's almost like we need to prioritize a better form of interconnected transportation that's more efficient at moving larger amounts of people with a small foot print.

To clarify, it does not have to be a bus, but it can be a tram, train, subway, elevated rail, cable car, bike, scooter.

There have been study's, these crossing are usually design to feel like open fields in a sense, so most animals will cross quick and on high alert to get through the "opening" in the field.

Wow, shrinkflation even in digital content.

Less about what comes in the box and more about what you get over the years sounds like most video games now.

Now send it back to the manufacturer please!!!

I don't know why we let corporations use a publicly funded recycling and waste collection program, paid for right from our pockets.

I buy the product, and then I pay to have it thrown away?

There was a documentary I watch years ago where they went into great detail into this, as well as the design of these things. Can't remember where i saw this documentary though.

Anyways, researchers setup cameras trigger by movement and body heat to watch these overpasses and found no evidence of higher predetor active.

They also went into detail about how these things are design with extra width and gentle slopes to make them as "friendly" as possible depending on the specific species that will be migrating in the area, as different wildlife species prefer different types of crossing structures.

For example:

Grizzly bears and wolves

Wary animals like grizzly bears and wolves there is a "learning curve", it may take up to five years before they feel secure using newly built crossings. Grizzly bears, elk, moose and deer prefer wildlife crossings that are high, wide and short in length, including overpasses

Cougars and black bears

Cougars and black bears prefer long, low and narrow crossings such as underpasses.

Elk

Elk are usually the first large species to use the new crossings, even using some while they are still under construction!

Here are some articles that talk about some of the studies:

Everything you bring with you, you take back with you. This includes the bodies.

Jokes aside, it's just good manners to always leave an area cleaner than you found it. This means pick up after yourself and anything extra you find in the area.

The older I get the more I agree with Agent Smith.

It's funny how this repeats every generation.

20 years back, my school removed mirrors in both the men's and women's washrooms, girls kept leaving lipstick on the mirrors, and the guys kept drawing on them with Sharpies.

They even removed toilet paper and hand towels because kids kept soaking it in water and throwing it up on the ceiling.

After that they even removed all the doors to the stalls in the men's because kids kept leaving black marker "doodles" on them (ie. graffiti).

On my third year they ended up painting everything a very dark green colour. This included the walls, stalls and the ceiling to cover up all the black marker. The green made it almost impossible to make our any new graffiti added in black marker.

Can we sue Tim Hortons here in Canada as well? Coffee cups and plastic lids everywhere at every intersection and park.

If a blind man were to ask a police officer for help crossing the road, the cop would probably shoot all the drivers.

A ZigBee local control thermostat OTH4000-ZB. No cloud services needed.

Absolutely, though I do wish more of the public and local governments would follow this type of mentality. Seems like most local towns and cities have lost this.

Seems like everything's more along the lines of "if it's not completely broken, then don't bother fixing or even improving it."

This video here explains one of the issues one minute in as to why pedestrian deaths are rising. Definitely worth a watch.

If you are into self hosting, I suggest you look into unraid, from there look at sonnar/radarr/libarr (tv/movies/music), run these in radar as dockers. I recommend looking a spaceinvaders videos on YouTube to get you started.

These three dockers will help with automating your torrent downloads.

Once you get comfortable with this I would suggest looking into seedboxes to host your download clients outside of your local network. And I would also suggest looking into nzb downloads to help pull more content. There are some excellent nzb sites to sign up for.
