Yeah, I don't know. I feel much more sorry for the girls and women who get hit by that hatred. And they definitely do. Online and sometimes offline as well. I see it in school (in Germany) how some boys as young as 12 already bought into the incel narratives and treat the girls accordingly. This has to be stomped out.

I think it is quite unfair towards someone to be with them only because otherwise you wouldn't have any friends. Unless of course you both know about that.

Many people do not invest in relationships and that is the main reason they end up alone. I have seen this in other couples a lot.

For example, my father always tagged along but never had any respect for the work my mother put into relationships with friends and families. When they divorced my father became a grumpy and lonely old man who gets increasingly awkward the longer he spends cooped up alone.

He believes his way out is finding another woman. He seems to be unable to understand that it shouldn't be another person's job to "make" his social life...

A partner is no replacement for friends and they can't be the stand in for all other relationships.

It's also important to remember that this is how most abuse cases work out. There is almost never enough evidence because it is almost impossible to proof beyond reasonable doubt. It's incredibly rare that someone gets convicted in an abuse case, no matter if they actually committed abuse or not. The victim has to basically stand in court with the gunk and fingerprints of the perpetrator still on them and video material that shows it wasn't self-defense from the other side, for any conviction to actually happen.

But OP was very likely referring to the fact that women discuss how female bodies are depicted unrealistically in almost every piece of media. The meme makes fun of women talking about that issue, pretending that men are also depicted unrealistically. That's the whole punch line.

Can you give a few examples of which IPs have been "re-written"? Rey for example is the protagonist in the new Star Wars movies. They weren't remakes of the old ones. And Galadriel was always that powerful.

That's what you take from it? No, I think there should be no reports or articles or mentions on any cases that have not yet been decided upon by a court. A private's persons life is not ruined by an accusation because it almost never leads to a conviction, regardless of whether they are guilty or not.

He looks too happy and to pretty, this did not bode well with Turkish police!

Just checked and can't believe it only got 40 %. Perhaps it's because it was too close to the Matrix hype at the time. In my friend group we even called all these movies "vermatrixt".

Where in the study did they wrote that?

Sorry, I didn't mean this on you specifically. Just that we can not tell people (as a society) to just live more frugal without addressing the overall problems that drive so many into consumerism. It's a bit like how people treat drug addicts. I see the same in the recent climate debate. Instead of focusing on the root issue, it is reduced to judging other people's morals or character.

When people accept something happening in a male character they do not accept in a female character that is at least sexist. If Rey was male perhaps there still would have been some whining, but the sheer amount of angry men tears online over Rey being too good is in part due to her being a woman.

I wonder why people didn't lose their mind over that Lego movie being political. Why is "average Joe is the real hero when he just lets go of restrictive norms" not a political statement? But "Barbie is the hero in her own movie by abolishing restrictive norms" is woke/political?

I actually think something like that would be great. Not only for Reddit but also for the data your internet provider, email provider, WhatsApp, Google, Apple, etc. has. People don't realise that these companies have all kinds of sensitive data. And with "companies" I don't mean some abstract organisation but literal employees, as in people.

I am more shocked about people being shocked that Lemmy instances can see your upvotes.

What? No, what I mean is that it was known how people were increasingly aligning their opinions to the right for probably more than a decade now. Especially in exactly those areas which now voted for AFD. But instead of doing anything about it then, it was washed aside with: "Eh well it's all Nazis there anyway! What a bunch of idiots!" and that was it.

Again and again there was the occasional article where all people agreed upon how bad those people are and for a while perhaps being called right-wing or Nazi had some weight in persuading people they should seriously question their opinions. But without any further action, I wonder what people were thinking how this would prevent those people from voting a party like AFD further down the line?!

Now some of them are already at a point where they will just proudly agree that they are right-wing or conservatives. What a surprise.

Depending on how it works out with the AFD in that town, I am sure people in similar places are watching closely. This can escalate quickly. I believe, when this doesn't turn out as a complete desaster for the town, a kind of domino effect will happen and more people will feel comfortable voting for the AFD. I mean, they are already branded as right-wing Nazis, why not vote accordingly? When a 60 yo village dweller finds he agrees with some of the points the AFD makes and that makes him right-wing, perhaps being right-wing is a good thing? That's how people work and we need to step in at that point and not wait for a miracle of them suddenly making a mental U-turn.

Why is it woke when female or "minority" characters are this way but not when white male characters are this way? Your points describe the majority of movies featuring a male white protagonist.

And how is Galadriel not the way she is described in the original IP?

There are more problems with nuclear energy, though. The biggest being that we burden future generations for literally thousands of years with a growing amount of waste. I am not sure why this is always missing from the discussions of people who are pro nuclear power.

It is making the same mistake again as we did before: creating a problem for future generations to solve. And in this case the problem is dire and, because of the immensely long timespan, we have no way to reliably plan ahead for so long.

I am pretty sure that's the punchline of the meme. "Women say they are unrealistically portraited in media, but look at how men are shown!". That's the oppresion olympics you pretend to be against, is it not?

No, I am really not that good in English. I often realise people understand it slightly different than what I meant. But I can't do anything about it lol

But that's not the topic? I wish MGTOW would just go their own way already instead of pestering everyone with their bullshit.

What bias?

So you feel like whenever people talk about how there are unrealistic body standards for women they also have to mention and talk about unrealistic body standards for men.

But at the same time you complain about feminists allegedly talking about feminist issues in discussions about men's issues.

I feel like something doesn't sound right with that logic...

The concerns were raised but ignored by the media and in politics. It doesn't stop people from voting for right-wing parties if you just insult them as right-wing and never do anything about their concerns. At some point they just accept that mark and act accordingly.

Rape is always violence.

What is your plan on how to protect victims?

Because a lot of the people here never were the victim of a crime and think they never will be. Crime is something that happens "to others". Especially sex crimes like rape is something people here feel especially apologetic for. Those poor rapists... I wonder why that is.

How are you helping the victims?

People do these things to fight negative emotions. If you want people to change their ways being arrogant and not showing any empathy won't help.

Anybody who is dependent on consumerism got to that point because society sells these things like tasty food, vacation, alcohol, tech gadgets, etc., as an easy fix for pain and other internal struggles. It's not about teaching them to be frugal. Almost everybody has something they rely on to deal with their negative emotions, but it's easier to see in others than in ourselves.

Someone who tortures (including rape) or kills other people should not be allowed back into society, in my opinion. We can't just continue to tell all the victims "Ah well, shit happens!"

What are your thoughts on how to actually prevent crime? What is your plan for the victims? What should happen with the people who have been tortured, raped or killed by the criminals you care so much about? What about the children, parents, friends, loved ones of the victims?

Which "economic environmental conditions" lead to rape?

A huge chunk of feminists are pereptrating hatred of men and are praised for that?

I don't think we share a reality. Unless with a "huge chunk" you mean one hateful twitter post by one individual or whatever you are referring to.

Otherwise please show to me a few examples where feminists perpetuate hatred towards men. Otherwise I assume you were tricked by some Andrew Tate video into believing there is a conspiracy against men by female raptors in the shadows or something.

But in one case the victim is a person with feelings and in the other case it's a tree. I find it quite concerning that people seem to struggle to see the difference.

She was an old woman in the democratic party. That's three things a lot of people on the internet hate. Since most agree she was a politician not fit for her job anymore they can go all out with the insults without getting too much backlash.

I have no idea who this person is, but the vitriol and hatred I see towards the person is extreme online. Especially a lot of sexist slurs like "bitch", "cunt", etc.

As someone who was in the same shoes as the person you reacted to: I was absolutely repulsed. It's the main reason why I waited until my late thirties to get a partner for life.

When I got the slightest whiff of the men being with me because he liked that I was short / skinny / childlike that was the end of the relationship. It's not only superficial, but also highly questionable to find your partner attractive because of these traits.
