My cat pretends he's starving to death. Every day. Even though I just fed you, Mojo

20+ years ago, when I was a freshman in high school, a Palestinian refugee joined our class. He mentioned off-handedly how quiet it was where we lived at night - he was used to hearing rockets/bombs all night while trying to sleep.

Then I started reading.

Considering they're en route to the hospital now, welcoming my very first nephew to the world would be a pretty awesome highlight

"There's not enough blue to make a cat a pair of pants!"

From my southern grandmother, when she'd spot a break in the clouds on an overcast day

There hasn't been any single major event - just years upon years of proving that they were trustworthy.

I wanted to tell you what an incredibly apt statement that was, and to thank you for teaching me a new turn of phrase I plan on using excessively

I've tried digital books, but I've found that physical books work much better for my brain. I retain more information and can "get lost" in the story, whereas, for some inexplicable reason, digital books being read on a screen kind of "flatten" a story for me. It's almost like a 3d vs 2d experience for me.

I'm registered to donate, they won't take them unless I get an expensive genetic test. My brother just passed away, and they wouldn't let him donate anything because we had an aunt a couple of generations ago who had Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (a prion disease that causes dementia)

All the time! Both when lying on my side and lying on my back. It's comfy

I have an unopened bottle of Seagrams from 1946, and a bottle of Old Forester from 1953, where time + the VERY heavy glass stopper cracked the plastic seal and broke the cork. Both belonged to my better half's grandfather

Hi neighbor! Wisconsinite here to throw our hat in the ring. I used to live on a residential road in the Milwaukee area that had a sign on either end that said "Rough Road". It was permanently installed. There were asphalt patches on top of patches that had been used to patch older patches. Half the patches turned to potholes, and then they ran out of patch money. But apparently had just enough left in the budget for signs.

I moved to across town to another suburb of Milwaukee, and the new street I live on partially caved in right beside my neighbor's driveway

Thanks, I hate it

I drove through Nebraska one time, and the only thing I remember is how bad that state smelled. "Industrial Rot" was the best way I could describe it

Ah, so it's organic, free-range, small batch shit.

Oh, man - Tim Minchin's "Inflatable You" is amazing

I hope this investigation takes out Vos, too. THAT would be a win-win for the state

I have! But unfortunately, I had the same result as if it were my phone/tablet. I really wish I understood why it was like this for me so I could maybe work on it, but I guess I'm just one of those "need-to-physically-turn-the-page" people :/

"Me Talk Pretty One Day" had me audibly cackling. He's the best!

I've heard a couple of variations, but that's a new one for me! I love it!

Thanks! I'm so freaking excited! For them, for me, for my parents... lol!

I, too, had to do a double-take

Was this the one with flying cats? Because that show was SO GOOD!! Except for the first few minutes with the dog...

If you want to keep those dress shoes, you can get them re-soled. They'll be good as new!
