I'm enjoying this aspect of the push back against reddit management. Ironically there was a great niche subreddit actually dedicated to vacuumcleaners and suggesting the best ones
Red flags everywhere, you know I'd forgotten that was everyone's response on reddit!
I hadn't realised this was an issue, but now you've pointed it out, images would definitely be nicer on the left. It's just a better read!
I've heard good things about elemental, so I'm not sure why people aren't going to see it. But with the flash, there is the obvious issues with ezra miller himself and the whole superhero fatigue thing, I think people are just a bit done with the whole idea.
I think in many ways the repetition of posts and worse replies. I know there was a bit of a hive mind going on, and in some ways it could be funny and a force for good, but I'm enjoying not reading the same set top comments to things!
I couldn't agree more, discussion is a lot more civil. Even when we're all disagreeing I've found people are giving each other room to put their point forward and listened (apart from one climate chnage thread but nothings perfect).
So I found the official app awful and insanely slow, I always assumed it was my phones fault though. Literally gave up on things loading several times.
Happy to be on kbin instead!
We do need action on all levels of society, and we need to be treating this as a crisis.
On a local level (in the UK) there are a lot more community and Council groups being setup to try and find solutions I would absolutely recommend attending those.
On a larger scale - vote at all levels, council and governmental, vote for people who are putting climate change at the front of their agenda.
Other than that, ensure your pension is invested in green and eco investments and try to fly less (maybe even drive less).
I don't know much about kbin or the fediverse's history so this is good to know. I also think kbin is pretty great, very usable, looks nice, teething problems have been minimal!
So I like to think about it needing to be bottom up and top down change. So while the main contributors will likely continue as usual, we as consumers can change demand and markets with enough impetus. And also vote for officials that forefront these issues. In a crisis you just have to do what you can.
This is the problem, people have been quietly talking about this issue and trying to convince people for decades. Barely anything has happened. Protest is supposed to be inconvenient. Not sure whether this type to protest works, but the quiet, passive way certainly doesn't.
Hah, yeah I've got to wonder how many times I read that. Someone else reminded me of the amount of times I'd read red flag on reddit as well. Hopefully we can build a whole new community here, a fresh start!
Same, this is what I think of as well. So a cute and nostalgic connotations for me (even if they didn't have a great sense of self preservation).
It really does! I hadn't realised how much I just wasn't engaging with reddit and just lurking. The community here seems much better, although I'm missing my more active niche subreddits. Still early days though!
I agree with this sentiment, while I cannot control what others do I can make changes in the capacity that I am able. I also think that change drives markets, dairy alternative milks are a great example of this. So while our efforts may be small in comparison to the ones that others with more could make, it doesn't make them meaningless and better yet acts as an example to those who are unsure or sitting on the fence.
I also think we may have reached a point where it's just too late to debate what the best action is and it would be better to try and do something with the view to this being an emergency.
I've found myself saying magazine/group/community to cover my bases, so having a common name might be nice.
Wind farms have been very successful in the UK but we are also quite a windy country. A lot of people are now on green tariffs so I feel as though it's moving in a good direction.
So I walk everywhere and have often found community and society while walking. I even find that places people say aren't friendly actually are, but you just need to walk them regularly and say good morning to people. Cars separate people from the other people in cars and often just create a load of stress.
Honestly I find that making physical hand written notes better cements the ideas in my head. It may be because I'm older so I started with only pen and paper which means that's how I best think, but for me writing and typing are two different tools and I tend to use both.
I've taken to more national holidays over flying in recent years. I quite enjoy it but I do recognise what you are saying with the reduction in flying having an impact on holidaying in general. I would strongly encourage finding places to see within your country as there are often brilliant places to see and stay and it helps the local economy.
I appreciate your consideration, hopefully we'll see change at all levels!
I know that trains aren't always an option, especially in America. But if you can some train journeys can be really beautiful, especially across Europe and it's a much slower way of seeing places.
I have the same large Dutch oven and we use that and a cast iron pan for basically everything. I envy your le creuset collection we barely have space for the Dutch oven!
Brilliant, you can only do what you can!
I'm on kbin and they are called magazines, but I think communities are a better catch all. Everyone knows what you mean by that
We suggesting Branston's instead?
I think you might have something there with oat simulator and stay!
Brilliant sound track!
My fav, mostly because of nostalgia, has to be the final fantasy 9 soundtrack.
Absolutely, it's a difficult one as I/we have little to no access to the main carbon contributors so I try to do the little I can instead! And vote!
Agreed, basically what I live off anyhow. But then it is leaf water, so unsure if the rules would allow!
Never tried in the tin but beans and sausages are a classic combo
Lovely work, really liking the walled garden sections!
Impressive work! And brilliant to be repurposing so many things.
There are way more mosquitos now, never used to be a problem in the past. Awful things!
Yeah I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Along with seeming like zootopia and inside out, I also don't think it's really obvious what the film is about. I'm fine with films being vague but they also need to be intriguing. I just think it's a shame as I'm a massive fan of animation so I want it all to do well. I definitely need to find time to go see across the spider verse, the first one was amazing.
I get what you mean, I do the same. I just don't want this place to end up like reddit where people don't want to comment or post.
Walking alone and tending to my allotment. Although sometimes trying to get things to grow can be a bit frustrating!
I've been using the website on brave on my phone and it appears absolutely fine! The only issue is that I think brave blocks the image up loader apart from that all good!
Nope, enjoying kbin way more than reddit so far. Even if this doesn't work out I think I might have kicked my reddit habit!
