Unrelated, but for no real reason whatsoever, I preferred HDMI over DP until recently when I noticed I was having noticing some weird behavior with my laptops and my usbc dock.

I did some testing with DP cables instead of HDMI, and it totally fixed it. Ive since been converted to DP.

I go through spurts of reading, and I had been putting off ebooks because I like to own the physical books and have them fill up a shelf etc.

I recently got a Kobo and it's been amazing. Definitely been reading more, and as others have mentioned, it's so great when travelling. I've got a little camera sling bag that I carry when travelling, and it just manages to fit in there so I can have a quick read when I'm waiting for something/got some down time etc.

My fear of this happening (which I thought was irrational) has now been validated as being real.

I used to live in an apartment that had a swimming pool built on top of some commercial units, and every time I'd swim, I had a fear of falling through.

Very interesting reading all the responses, as I am a rear pocket person. Hate the feeling of having things against my thighs when I move.

Though having it in my back pockets does mean I take them out everytime I sit down.

Do you have any problems with gnats?

Yeah, essentially.

Obviously made by different companies, Kindle - Amazon, Kobo - Rakuten (A Japanese multinational).

When I was doing my research on what to buy, I was weighing up between the Kindle Paperwhite vs Kobo Clara 2e.

I think most people say that the Kindle has a better selection of books available in their store (though I've only had one book I couldn't find for the Kobo, but I solved that issue by purchasing it while in a different region), and the Kindle is Larger. The Kindle also has a top screen layer than makes it flush with the body.

In the end I went into a physical store to have a look at both of them, and went with the kobo, mainly due to how I preferred the smaller size.

edit - oh and just remembered as I read another comment in this thread, Kobo is compatible with Libby, which is what is used to "borrow" ebooks from your local library (I believe in most places around the world?, not too sure on that), while Kindle is not. Though I havent used it yet, as when I went looking for a few books I wanted to read, they had already been checked out by other users, and there was a waiting list for them.

Same here in New Zealand. Had them around for a while but never heard about flexible prices like this (other than items on sale of course)

Yeah, I currently have a Dell Xps13 and won't be getting another Dell laptop after this one.

Other people have said the same, but Apollo was my most used App on my phone.

I find that during the day, I mainly browse Reddit on my phone, as I can't stand not having RES on my work laptop. I'll have to see what sort of adjustments I'll have to make, as I was looking at using both Reddit (via browser on my laptop) and Lemmy (via wefwef on my phone) whilst the lemmy community gains a bit more traction.

Admittedly I've kept out of the loop on this whole Musk Twitter fiasco. Could anyone ELI5 why Musk is trying to tank Twitter?

Yeah, though I haven't used it yet, it's good to know it's right there when I want it.

Been using it today and it's been pretty good. Only bug is sometimes when I come back out of a post to the main feed, the feed becomes frozen. Need to click one of the menu buttons and return to the feed to get it working again.
