I vehemently disagree with this statement.

We need to compost the rich and use that as a soil amendment to grow heirloom vegetables.

Especially Divinity 2: Original Sin.

Yeah, you should reconsider Dishonored and Prey. Especially at how cheap they are on sale.

I'm being totally honest when I say, This Old House. It's always positive, inclusive, thoughtful. I've learned so much from so many different trades. They restore neglected structures and highlight local businesses and people. They underscore the importance of history and community. That encourage the underserved and downtrodden to use their hands and minds for positive community building.

There are 45 seasons and it's still going. I've tried to put it on just to have in the background and always end up riveted and engrossed. I cannot recommend it enough

I can confirm and I do use this feature of jellyfin. It works great. The reader is unusable. I use Librera for reading. It's great, free, and open source.

So my flow is biblio, mam, library Genesis, Anna's. Then to jellyfin folder that it reads automatically. Then I can download that to any device connected to the jellyfin server. Local is easy, abroad through tailscale.

Wanted to fully experience life!

Grew up gaming. Stopped gaming for twenty years. Now I game again. I've had a great time. Climbed mountains. Traveled. All manner of relationships. Built a nice career. Now I find I can enjoy games without that, I'm wasting my life feeling.

All humans "waste" time. It's odd to say reading is better than games. Or movies are better than TV. They're all just mediums to convey stories. And really, there aren't many original stories, just the same ones told over and over in different ways.

At least with games, you are actively participating rather than passively consuming. And yes I do read lots of complicated books, and watch fine cinema, and great television.

But I also garden, birding, botany, camp, etc.

Sewage in the street by days end. Resurging preventable diseases long thought vanished by the developed world shortly thereafter.

I've got some rocks on a shelf from the Permian. So a little older than 250 million years.

Holy shit that's commitment.

My top 3:

  1. RimWorld

  2. Skyrim

  3. No Man's Sky

If you haven't played a game like this, there is a learning curve. I've been playing stuff like this for decades and there's still lots to explore, in purely mechanical terms, with BG3.

That said, it is very much worth the initial investment. I found playing Divinity 2: original sin very much prepared me for BG3. You could start there a little more cheaply before delving into this expensive title. At least then you can see if you enjoy this style of game.

It's certainly older but Revolution OS is pretty thorough.

I've found a nice home with Mint Debian edition. It has the right balance between stable and current that I prefer.

Jellyfin is great but has some issues that can make it annoying. The 3rd party clients are often better than the normal interface. The server is easy to set up. So I can recommend all of it.

Honestly though, just because it isn't updated doesn't mean it is not great. I always revert to Clementine myself. Still use it daily and love it. There is an updated variant called strawberry which is updated and works great, but the remote doesn't work.

Jellyfin does.

Having tried many, I found that the desktop environments matter more than the actual OS, especially on older machines.

Going for something really light, like openbox, lxde, or xfce, caused less frame rate drop and stuttering. At least on my lower powered mini pc.

The show is much better. But Coen brothers are fantastic film makers.

As a man myself, I fully agree. It's also exhausting as an empathetic man to deal with this pervasive pseudo masculine enculturation.

Thirded for etsy. i went with simple bands of high quality metals. Silver at first then gold for the tenth. They're quite attractive.

I use Doku at work and can attest that it is easy to use and works very well. Even for industrial applications.

All these suggestions are great. I'll just add that qbittorrent has a built in search feature that is often outstanding. And rutracker is great for music torrents.

Thank you. It's not as bad as most people think. But there is a cornucopia of smells that one must acclimate to.

Anything by Gasper Noe fits this thread. I've seen enough of his work to never watch that fucker again.

Whoa whoa whoa, there. Back er down. Red Zone Cuba is a masterpiece of fine cinema.

I have bought accessories from them, like wifi dongles and USB sticks. They're great and have worked flawlessly for awhile. I cannot arrest to their more complex stuff though. I've always been curious.

I took a long break from gaming (~15 years). Then when I came back too it I found all these great games that had came and went. So I started parsing through many of the most critically acclaimed games. I hit Arkane, and Dishonored was so incredible (and I got Prey with them in a flash steam sale for a few bucks), I thought I'd give it a try.

I will say it's probably one of the best games I've played in my most recent gaming phase. It is a super solid sci-fi horror where you can engage. I do not like run and hide games, so this one fulfilled my criteria. The story is also classic sci-fi greatness.

It's also one of the few games I've got an itch to play again.

Just watched that a few weeks back. Took years to psyche myself up to watch it, due to it's notoriety. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it is NOT for the faint hearted. Truly a masterwork in acting and cinematography. The sound, in particular, was haunting and dissonant.

I know it's low hanging fruit, but religion.

IF you have the space, go for a projector. I got a nice short throw 1080 Benq with a decent 120 inch screen. And wow, it's incredible. It's amazing for shows, movies, and games. I paid 800 total for everything. There's everything from 200 dollar to 5k dollars, depending on what quality you want.

Yup, all 3 of those. Especially Mother!

Nocturnal Animals is an amazing movie but really difficult to digest.

Sacred Deer, as with most of Lanthemos' films is really really odd.
