Oh goodness, I hope it's nothing minor.

Back in the early 2000's I was working tech support, which gave me admin access to users' computers over the network. I could pop open their CD drives from my desk; drove one particular user absolutely batty for a day.

Neil Armstrong. Got to shake his hand at a symposium where he gave a talk.

"Approved by the FAA" is overstaying things a bit. The only thing they were approved for was testing; there's a lot of road (pun intended) between that and certification.

Can't forget Krull!

LOL! I had to screen shot this response. Thank you, I needed that laugh! 🤣

I actually have some USB-A to USB-C cables from DeWalt with reversible USB-A connectors. Certainly no reason other companies couldn't have built them that way.

I heard about a service that might help: https://www.focusmate.com/

I haven't used it, but I've thought hard about doing so.

Nethack.

If you are eligible to vote, and don't, that is the same as a vote for the winner - whoever that is.

There may be a difference between habits and muscle memory. Seatbelts and parking brakes would be the latter.

I was introduced to Jimmy Buffett through Margaritaville and Come Monday playing on the radio; I don't think I'd ever even heard Cheeseburger in Paradise. When I started collecting music, Songs You Know By Heart was one of the first albums I ever bought - and I was hooked. I bought Boats, Beaches, Bars, and Ballads on cassette and it was on constant rotation; I listened to Bars so much the cassette broke, and I had to move the magnetic tape inside to another shell so I could keep listening to it. Then I went to my first concert in Irvine, where he sang "I Love the Now", and knew there was so much more to experience. His music kept me going through some of the darkest parts of my life; when I was thrown out of the house at 15, Jimmy's music was there. Through depression, anxiety, stress, his music was a light in the darkness. I will mourn that I never got to take my daughter and sons to one of his concerts, and help connect them to that part of my life; I will mourn that I never got to think him personally for everything he's done for me. But I will celebrate his life and his music, because even if I never got to meet him in person, never got to shake his hand and say "Thank you", my life wouldn't be what it is without Jimmy Buffett.

Thank you, Jimmy.

So why won't you lick my boot heel?

You picked a fine time to leave me Yuscil.

This is probably closer to the truth, as I first heard it in Firefly in 2002 before I started hearing it everywhere.

First, the beginning of your post sounds like the opening line to Jimmy Buffett's "The Devil I Know": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9WBXNW8Kj4

Second, my favorite experience with the B-1 was at the Edwards AFB air show. They were at max power, full afterburner, but near stall - the nose was pointed way up and they were just crawling across the sky. The ground shook; the cars were parked on the flightline (pre-9/11), and every car alarm went off at the same time. It was awesome.

At the same symposium I met Dick Rutan. I was standing in a group and he was across from me wearing his full dress uniform. Out of nowhere he sucks his hand out to me and says "Hi, I'm Dick Rutan, I flew around the world. Maybe you've heard of me." My response was not eloquent.

I was at E3 once talking to Jordan Weisman about MechWarrior 4 when Steven Spielberg walked up. He said, "My kids aren't going to believe I got to meet you!", which left Jordan and I stunned. Apparently he and his kids were big 'mech fans.

The skies are too clear, life's so easy today.

If not, nethack has probably consumed close to 1000 hours of my life.

I don't know who you are, but I love you.

Have you heard the better version? 🤣

Check out Firewalla Gold. I think it would meet all of your requirements.

Poe's Law.

It's a direct quote from him.

I loved that scene with Garibaldi.

As someone with 7-year old, ADHD-I and AuDHD-C twins, I just have this to say: If you figure it out, please let me know!

The Firewalla is pricey but amazing. I am running the Gold at home, and it runs Linux and supports Dockers so I'm running PiHole on the router.

So... M.E.R.C.?

I couldn't get into GW2, but I put a ton of hours into Guild Wars. My top three are probably Star Trek Online, Guild Wars, and Borderlands. Honorable mentions for Nethack and Command HQ.

With 400 charges and a [big] lawyer bill

That's way better than mine!

It's amazing, isn't it?

The whole album is freaking epic, but this is the best on there by far.
